Just as a fun fyi, I decided to keep track of my success/line break rate on gugs before and after I upgrade feet to waders. Currently without waders and using the +1 feet I'm at
Gugs
WITH SUPPORT
Catch - 155
Break - 70
Lack of skill - 0
Catch Rate: 68.8%
For awhile it was sticking around 66%, but I've had a lucky streak as of late so I'm guessing it'll dip back down at somepoint. Anyways I have 2 more weeks or so until I finish waders so it'll be cool to compile data and see how much the +1 skill changes my success rate.
Also, where does the data with an asterisks on Wiki come from that says paid support is +2? I've asked here before but no one can tell me why it's +2 not +3? Can an old fisherman who was fishing before the change confirm that it was +2 because of how it affected their recast?
Whoo thought of a way today to determine if paid support is +2 or +3. I'm pretty busy the first part of this week but will keep everyone updated on progress.
During the old method of fishing where every 10 levels reduced your cast time by 1 second, a test was run where you could see how long it took between casts. That's where the +3 came from.
For those of you ultra old fishers, it was on the LisaArndt site which is now defunct.
Today will put me about 15k from Rumors :D
SOOOOOO CLOSE
I assumed it would be +3, but wiki has it at +3
Synthesis Image Support - FFXIclopedia, the Final Fantasy XI wiki - Characters, items, jobs, and more
Anyways since I'm home and not posting from my phone the test I want to run is determine how many levels above cap it takes for auto-depletion to kick in. I'll then manipulate gear/MH/support to verify or debunk a few things. #1 Whether paid support is +2 or +3, and secondly the hearsay about multiple levels of water energy via MH.Originally Posted by Wiki
I wonder if there's some kind of test we're missing to test your current skill level, anyone with a lower level fishing mule or something that can test how long it takes between a cast and a "Something caught the hook!" Message?
Mayahsp every 10 levels is -1 to the wait time or something like that, cause I swear I had to wait a lot longer between hooks at lv 1 compared to now in the 90s...
So new MMM for fishers, finally an addition to the system I am actually interested in (besides my 0/too many on Kogglemander). And this looks quite sexy:

From the looks of the text it's active when you have fishing support, so basically a 2hour lasting Penguin ring. DO WANT!
fuck yeah... and no charges bullshit..
First I'm kinda happy that they're adding it. But I'm also really pissed that they do this after I spent a ton of time trying to get Penguin rings. Assholes.
Dammit. That might actually be worth wasting hours, and hours, and hours of time trying to get. /wrists
~_~ if i did not give my account away with my E rod I might of spent time making a group or soloing it. Ah well still might aim to get it Im fishing for a 2nd E rod now on my mule account I did not give away hehe that should be fun.
Lol I hate the Ferry so much right now... GP is Titanictus, so I hop over to go fish and I get pirates to and from Mhaura and Selbina. ._. Least I have enough Zombies to do two rounds of GP later.
Edit: 3rd pirate ride attack. >.> Seriously, they can go live again.
