So for mule account I just finished doing Under the Sea and activated the Sand Charm quest. I finished The gift, but apparently when trying to trade Oswald a Shall Shell for "The Real Gift" (quest before inside the belly). It will not accept it, or will not even ask for a shall shell. Am I missing something? Or do I need a little more Selbina fame? :/

See last time I did it I don't remember me waiting till JP midnight or gameday. But then again I could of finished it long time ago at 23:00 and then waited till after 24:00 to finish the other part. Will try when I get off work.

Try completing the Sand Charm quest. I did "Under the sea", "The Gift" and "The Real Gift" within 5mins without zoning out. The only difference is that i completed the sand charm quest for Bostaunieux Oubliette map like months/years ago.

I know I had to do the sand charm quest in order to complete the rest for inside the bellt, was annoying.

Doing some testing right now while waiting for Ein, it's definitely not 20 over, I have a slow auto-depletion on Ahtapots which are 90, I'm 100 skill +1 furniture) +2 or 3 (paid). Even if paid was +3 that wouldn't put me 20 over. I was going to go test on dils but it's ein time, booo. I'll see if I can try after rq.

Don't think it is over 20 cause at ~90-94 skills + 4 equips, i have auto depletion on cave cherax. Maybe cause of ebisu.

Stamina is degenerating over time when no keys are touched.

- This means that the fish in question is “Too Weak” to your fishing skill. For a fish to be “Too Weak” to your fishing skill, it’s cap has to be 20- levels less than your fishing skill. For example, Moat Carp cap at 11. Let’s say you are level 30 fishing, there is a 19 level gap and this fish’s stamina will simply stay the same if not touched making it “Even Match” and making it a decent reel. This is another time where fishing gear is useful. You’re level 30 fishing and you decide to equip one part of fishing gear, which makes your fishing skill 31. Now that the difference between you and the Moat Carp is 20, this fish now becomes “Too Weak” and it’s stamina will deplete on it’s own! Making these fish a quick and easy reel in. Again, this disproves people negative comments about fishing gear.


It's from 2006 though, so a lot could have changed since then. Or they could have just been wrong in the first place.

So yesterday I had fun. I was on the boat on SAM75/NIN37 fishing. Great place for skillups right now because I'm catching Cone Calamary, Noble Lady, and Bluetail which all bring a good price on the AH and good skillups. I was averaging 4 to 5 of each per boat ride (also had mule on boat for sand charm). Silverhook popped and I was able to solo him without any problems, No drop though, and I killed a few crossbones. While killing a crossbone some guy invited me because hew as dieing. So I accepted to help him out really fast. Sand charm drops. I ask does he need it and he says "no I don't know what its for" Well I lot on my mule. Pass on me and ask him to pass. He lots on it for 996 and I asked why he lotted. He states "because in a few levels I can wear it." I got mad and proceeded on 8 more boat rides with no pirates. I had previously been on the boat for 10+ boat rides. I swear some people are just retarded.

In relation to the auto-depletion (which I have no information about yet), I have been checking every level I am in Nash to see when the fish stop auto-regening (being too low as opposed to too high compared to the fish level). At the moment I haven't pinned down the exact level difference for fish 'auto-regen' but when I do I will post it to confirm for people.


Also, 3 of my fish won the fishing contest this month.

What's sad is I tossed 2 fish that would have easily placed in the top 20 too. I sort of overestimated what was needed to place this time around, but last time the contest was Giant Catfish so the competition was much tougher.

Maybe next time I'll take some of my decent extras and bazaar them near the contest NPC or something. :-/

Came 14th with 245 pz... My fren came 18th with 254 pz so yey! I get 24 Zebra Eels for nothing go me!

Inc. No Zebra Eels GP fish for the next year.

Ya wtf. I removed signboard/bigone/allgear/support which should have left me with flat 100skill + ebisu. After that I went and hooked some ahtapots, dils, ryugus and titanictus and all had a natural auto-depletion. I'm not sure if Ebisu has auto depletion on fish your skill or lower and we never realized it or what. It'd be nice if someone with Lu + 100 skill ONLY can go hit up the ferry with meatballs and hook a few ryugus/titanictus and tell us if you also naturally deplete. I was going to use this method to prove whether paid support is +2 or +3 but ya ebisu is screwing me up.

So I'm not 100 skill, but with 97 + 3 from fishing gear, I didn't have any auto-deplete on Titanictus or Ryugu Titans on an entire boat ride.

Got a .2 off a Titanictus while getting that info, too. Wootaru! =)
