Wiki is not great for fish sizes and weights. As dead as it is, I still use titanictus.com. Dont try and register though, Ive been waiting mabye 6-8 months to get a reply from a mod. In that time i went fishing 48-100, got apron, serpant rumors, signboard and ebisu.

I would also suggest cherax to 100 even if you dont have WW. They break lu mabye 1% of the time in my experience.

I say as soon as u get it start spamming it. Faster you skill up the faster u get to higher Gil ranges. Also u can get a new one in 4 weeks anyways.once u fish with a pelican's ring I'll wonder why you ever bothered fishing without one lol. Phone posting ignore any errors or idiotic shorthannd

I'll third this. I've only used 4 charges off it and had it less than 36 hours, and I'm ready to start calling it my precious. 3 levels in the last 2 days, and I don't get to fish to cap every day.

Other than Ebisu fish you don't really need high Fishing skill to reel most $$$ fish in.

Fuck yeah! Finishing 100 fishing, continuing Ebisu quest, this will give me a bunch more fun stuff to do with fishing :D (other than make FAT GILZ)

They did say the fish swallow WHOLE pieces of equipment at least, so that'll make it a bit more bearable.

I'm stocking up on meatballs and going to catch some cave cherax! Which is the best place to go to fish them?

Whatever equipment is inside of the new fish, they seem to have been planning for it as long as a couple years ago...

I just had a conversation with my brother last night that if they were going to extend Zaldon's selection of acceptable fish, it would be relatively soon. The addition of the seagull ring makes mooching a viable option for fisherman. From what I understand, mooching with ex bait gives an albatross-like ring effect, so albatross ring would not need to be equipped while fishing. Fisherpeople can now equip 2 stamina reduction rings, AND have an albatross-ring effect from mooching, both which may prove useful against those legendary fish that only bite on EX bait (I think matsya might be the only one).

I'm not sure what qualifies as a legendary fish, other than that they usually are 100+ in skill, and sometimes have "legendary" in their description, so I might be wrong.

Has anyone had any experience with these fish? What's the best setup/location for catching them? Does one need to have an Albatross ring? Penguin ring? Mooching? There's a little bit of info out there on some of the WotG fish, as seen in these two threads from Titanictus.com

There are also a few threads on Matsya there. Seems that, as many already know, ex is a must, and penguin/albatross rings are pretty well needed (or at least, no one is willing to risk it by not using them).

Lastly, speaking of albatross rings, do they stack with the mooching effect? If (theoretically) albatross ring extends the time able to drain a fish by x2, does mooching + albatross extend it by x3, or do they not accumulate?


Edit: I'm not doing anything important right now, so I'm going to do some research using fishing databases and update the Legendary listing with some possible bait choices that target each fish as best as possible.

If it is indeed Matsya I have to say getting 12.5k from Zaldon + no item instead of 25k from NPC, that took 1 stack of EX bait to catch it, that took 30~60 cave cherax to turn into bait...seems harsh. Rather see some increased % from Zaldon with this update.

Unless of course this is a Relic Lure or Hat

I remember trying those TaU fishes when TaU came out, tried to determine where all those fishes could be caught and baits etc. I was never able to catch a mola mola, prolly need at leeast albatros for it ( gugrusaurus esque, except it stays longer on the line). the other big fishes are easy. might add betta to it ( from the porrogo pond in mamook).

Ooh, a hat would be nice.

How about this for a lure: Makes your line unsnappable, and takes on the characteristics of a bait of your choosing in your inventory (think "equipping" and unequipping the lure with a piece of bait). Maybe make the ex baits exempt from this feature, but it would be neat to have infinite sliced bluetail/cod/meatballs/etc.

Edit: Then again, it would be pretty broken to have such a lure for Gugrusaurus, because with ebisu + unsnappable line, yeah, that would pretty much crash the market.

Awhile back I thought an awesome sig would be me catching a bunch of rare/legendary fish. I compiled this list but never got around to actually fishing them lol.
