Pretty sure this is a really, REALLY bad idea. If I recall correctly, people used to get banned for manipulating their taskbar clock because it would allow them to run faster than normal. I'm sure making it so you move/run/fish slower is equally naughty.

Mayhaps, but Im pretty sure theres a huge difference between pos hacking, something which is built into the rmt pwner to detect, and makign fish actually physically possible to catch on anythign with more than a gig of ram lol

I try to fish on my PS2 to make it easier, but lately its just not working anymore, so I don't have much of a choice. Se really doesnt have a way to detect if youve changed the tiemr on your computer, but they can detect if your character is moving faster than it should.

i'm sure this is a stupid question but i'm quite unclear. why would the seagull ring be superior to the penguin ring if the stamina depletion is the same but it has less effect on keeping the rod in position? with your description of the effects it sounds like seagull should be the inferior ring while you make it out that your impression is that it's superior. could you clarify a bit?

I don't like charged items, and the penguin ring can sometimes be difficult to get. I have 4 penguin rings, so it really shouldn't be a concern, but I still like not having to worry about switching between penguin rings between boat trips to keep the enchantment up at all times, and not feeling like I ever "waste" charges when fish aren't biting.

Given the choice between a permanent penguin ring vs. a seagull ring, I'd still opt for the penguin ring. I even used a couple penguin ring charges while fishing gugrus to compare again, and yeah, I can drain them a little faster with penguin ring (because of the extra time given from left/right rod swings). But as it is, I can drain Gugru/lik 100% of the time with either, and since I nearly always have fishing support on (and in emergencies, I can use Fisherman's belt), I don't feel the need to use penguin ring charges.

Edit: For the record, got another seagull ring today. Went to my brother who went in with me. I should have heron pretty soon.

I just got a Heron Ring today. I'm unsure of what exactly it does at the moment. The change with Seagull ring was apparent to me right away, as it made regen>no regen, and no regen > auto-depletion on the fish I was skilling up on in Nashmau.

Have you checked if it lets you catch more than 200 fish a day? Thatd be a nice ring.

Is there any other reason for MMM fishing then the two rings? or Are the high drop rate rings the only thing good that comes from them(that and charts)

Just for informations sake.

A friend did a maze with a level 1 mule with 0 fishing skill with me yesterday, and decided to help out as best they could by fishing small fish, and did manage to do several hundred points worth.

But the interesting thing she reported is she got fishing skill ups as she caught the fish. So I'm assuming it's possible to skill off the catches there in the same way it is in the regular areas.

Both questions are related. CC are points accumulate the longer you wait between doing MMM runs. I believe you gain the first CC point if you wait 36 hours after your last MMM run before doing another, and 1 more point every 8 hours after that. You can hold a maximum of 6 CC points. If you have CC points, an extra chest will appear after you open the regular one.

In terms of this fishing voucher, I've only gotten it the first day since I've been spamming MMM every day since then. I got an extra rune and 0.2 fishing skillup from it myself.

Every day you do not do a maze you get a C.C. point.

When you do your next maze, you get a second chest if you have 1 or more of them. The more you have the better your chances of getting something nice in the second chest. This of course means your odds go from .01% to .03%

This is where people get the second chest from.

In regards to the question about is there anything other of value then the rings, we currently do not know. There have been reports of two of the new "In the Belly" quest items dropping (Shield and Dart) and it's possible others might be in the treasure pool also, bit with such a low drop rate we've not seen them. But for most end game fishers the two rings are very much worth it, as they are chargeless, and getting the Penguin ring can be a true pain.

I've never gotten a penguins ring. I know the trick is to get a chart, fish up 100 more
marlins, pop one, have a friend hold pug, lose first chart, warp and turn in fish for secondchart, pop second chart while pug is held and hopefully get ring. Repeat for another ring and then repeat/replenish when charges wear out. Personally I've tried the standard way of popping chart and hoping for no pug but I always seem to get one.

I'll gladly invest some time into a slightly inferior permanent ring than continually invest time into reaquiring marlins and penguin rings over and over. To me the minor inferiorirty greatly outweighs the long term opportunity cost.

There is an second chest that pops that only the Maze owner can open, which distributes all inside to his inventory.

The second chest will be a physical chest to open, but it doesn't work the same way as the first chest. When you open it, the items go directly into your inventory, and only the maze owner can open it.

that's totally a fair assessment since you can get fishing support in wg before you head out on your expedition, especially if you're fishing gug. still, having a cap at 2 hrs from the time you leave wg till you need to go back or you need to keep buying fisherman's belts sounds like a significant negative if you're going a long distance or planning a long trip. i was also confused since he made it sound like the effects of the new ring were superior rather than just the convenience, but that doesn't sound like the case. a neat aspect of this though is that for less difficult fish where an albatross ring is unnecessary, one could double up on tiring skill rings and tire them even faster, no?

well by high drop rate i mean its not like a 1% drop rate(so it would seem) and once you get them there seems to be no point in doing the maze.


Also, I was looking back at some of the old posts in this thread its so great reading when like 1 person had the E rod !_!

No fish currently listed on the "Inside the Belly" wiki page that is gutted by Zaldon for 340.

The person who posted the picture (Upbeat of Odin) said "Veydal Wrasse is what you'll want to use to get ores." However, we already know 340g isn't the correct amount you get back. Further, all he would have to do is replace the two items Veydal Wrasse drops with other .dat labels, and it appears like he got two other items (same can probably be done with the price...a simple text edit).

So yeah, take it for what it's worth.

Or, just find multiple people with charts, do a /random to decide order, and use all those charts you have. The first person to pull up a pugil will probably get screwed, but everyone after him will have a very very good chance at a penguin ring. If you go again with the same group, just let the person that got screwed go last this time.

Probably even easier to coordinate something like this now, with this MMM giving brigand charts away like it's nothing, lol
