It does look like it might be legitimate now. Not surprised there were a few fish overlooked for the Inside the Belly quest after the initial lackluster results.

Upbeat=Supermidget. The two names have something to do with an old account that he deleted or gave away, came back and made a new character. He was fishing up every fish in Thickets and trying to turn them all in, then moving onto a new zone to do the same thing. So like I said, not sure if it was an honest mistake or whatever.
Got Heron ring on 8th run, from Alt's coped maze. Testing right now in Nashmau while skilling up. Currently skill level 65, and using both Pelican and Penguin rings.
I haven't noticed anything obvious so far. I think it's the regen when you hit the wrong direction so i'm forcing myself to hold down the keys and not pump to test this out. Looks like it's collaborating, can anyone else confirm?
My results so far were as follows for mazes: (all with Lost and Found + Stillness resonating)
1: Lost, didn't know wtf I was doing
2: Won, worm lure to left pond ftw, chose mithra, only fish
3: Lost, brothers got 18million points on 2nd hand-in, wtf?
4: Lost, tried it with Might etc, lost HORRIBLY because brothers got big fish continuously
5: Won, chose mithra got 117
6: Lost, a colibri spawned right on top of me with winning fish in hand. Lost with 2950.
7: Won, chose mithra and got a giant donko
8: Won, chose mithra, got Lethercrafter and White Mage runes, and a Heron Ring
Observations:
I never depleted a pond by myself, and neither did the brothers. It only happened when we were both at the same one.
The roc likes to hang around me when i'm at the starting pond. Deo/Sneak/Invis have no effect, but if I "lure" him to the side with all the ponds, I can run around from the other side.
EDIT!
Did a few more, I don't think it's hitting in the wrong direction regen thing. Boo for eyeballing.
I first found this the day of the update... fishing the fish all day going crazy not, letting any info about it out. I figured eh I'm sure someone will find it... But after a week past still nothing on it. I told Cdgreg in game about it, and still went on fishing them pulling up only Ice ores then got 3 waters in a row. Yes, I did say it was the wrong fish to have a little fun. No, the picture is not fake or .dat's. I'm sorry for all you people that thought it was real and tried to fish them but I had many laughs thinking about it alland feel like this is my 5 mins of fame for the FFXI fishing world! I'm 25/450 on Ores atm so the drop is pretty good but nothing GREAT. Again thanks for all the laughs I've had it's been a lot of fun.... And as for one last note I will say there is other fish out there you can trade to zaldon, but who knows what?!
EDIT: I just went 0/76 on ores if it makes you guys feel any better.
Well Ice ores are junk, but Water ores seems tempting to try. Of course this'll crash water ores soon too, and we'll need to find the other elements (don't forget darksteel ore & green rock already in quest, this isn't hard to believe)
FYI, with the current rune setup I'm using, and duoing MMM runs, sparkles in pools respawn exactly 8 minutes after you begin the competition. It might be 8 minutes regardless of setup/number of people participating, haven't checked. It's useful to keep track of how much time passes to know whether it's worth it or not to switch pools, or wait x amount of time for respawns.
As for the ore fish: What's the avg. number you can catch within an hour, and the setup you use?
So is the Turnabaligi rumor verified to give elemental ores?
Well just got Heron's ring. Entered by myself with a completely blank M08, the 3 creepy ginger kids ran off, and I went straight for the main pond with frog lure. Fished up 7 giant catfish and won 3,330 to 1150. Picked mithra chest as usual and got 12 marbles heron ring, emperor fish, and 2x sandfish. Hope this gives non-MMMer's (like myself) hope that you can enter with a blank maze, win, and eventually get the rings.
can turnabaligi break a lu and how hard are they to catch? would these be a viable skillup toy for me as an alternative to nashmau?
Fished pretty much all day and now am around 4/90~ on Ores from Turnabiligi,
3 Ice and 1 Dark. That much is confirmed.
As I can see it, unless you get water or dark ore you kinda are going for a bad fish, could get more profit off other fish, I guess depending on if you have WW or cooking leveled. But again seeing as more and more fisher's are gonna be finding out about this the price on these ores are going to be going down which will create less profit for even the WW side ; ;
So far I've tried:
Mola Mola - X
Matsya - X
Abaia - X
Gigant Squid - X
Grimmonite - X
Garpike - X
Gigant Octopus - X
Three Eyed Fish - X
Yilinbaligi - X
Kayabiligi - X
Of course X meaning you cant trade.
Yeah, it's looking more like making the maze difficult with challenging runes is left impacting only the # of marbles you get, and Lost and Found maybe is only useful for finding extra runes in the chest. Regardless, I'll continue to use my difficult setup just in case. If I start losing, then maybe I'll switch it up.
And yes, I am refreshing this page every couple of minutes. I'm on my laptop with no FFXI and nothing to do for a few hours, so eagerly anticipating/hoping more information comes about from the ore fish/the "other" fish.
Upbeat, I feel the need to apologize. I was a bit irked you gave the false information, but I understand it was just in good fun/was not maliciousAnd while I'm dying to know what other fish can be gutted (it can only be one of a couple that haven't been tested...) and what it drops, I respect your right to not share it.
...but that's not stopping me from scouring FFXIAH looking for what you might have sold in the past couple days from said fish. And darn it, you're making it tough by just recently blocking your AH history on Upbeat D:
Great Blue - FFXI Fishing Database << Big list o' fish for those interested in some of the potential guttable fish. Just scroll down and you'll see a few that may/may not have been tested.
Anyone try Morinabaligi? Rhinochimera? Kilicbaligi? I'd search this thread for records of anyone turning them in, but my internet connection is terrible atm, it would take a long time.
After about 7k loss of xp on my blm(don't wanna talk about it), just did Rhinochimera.
Can't trade
Congrats paul, didn't realize you could play ffxi on a gameboy![]()
