Has anyone tried the stream in MMM? There's a sparkly stream just right of the starting pond.

I use that one exclusively on freshwater when the catfish/monkes/donkos aren't biting well at other ponds. Has a good pipra bite rate (small bait) and those add up fast.

Would seem like a no to me, have had friends as low as level 20ish fishing go in them and catch a few things inside. However with a higher skill, you'll get a better bite rate.

Can you fish Trumpet Shells without an Ebisu or Lu Shang's? If so, what rod would be best?

Composite or Mithran. Mithran should make you lose a few to the "too small" message, however.

I can hook and pull up any of the large or small fish in freshwater on any of my jeuno maze mules using their MMM rod and baits/lure, all with zero fishing skill. My mules seem to get the same bite rate as my lvl 100skill/ebisu character.

Haven't tried the saltwater rune enough to say if it's the same way.

I have yet to catch a Monke Onke in there .... 60 fishing with lu's and blah blah blah..... I normally win via Giant Catfish... duo this with a friend... 0/10 on ring for me though.

Here's my findings so far. The fresh water maze is quite consistent as far as what is where.
I always start out on the second pond with a worm lure, it catches Black Eels (200 pts, stackable to 3) and Monke-onke ~500pts.
When that dries up, I hit the 1st pond with a frog lure for Giant Catfish (~450pts).
The 3rd pond has Giant Donko which are worth less than any of the others, so I never go back there. You'll never catch crayfish or moat carp on the lures, only baits.

As far as the saltwater goes, my bite rate has been horrendous and the Bros. always win within 10 min. I dont waste my time. But the 1st pond has Gugru Tuna (Sinking Minnow) and the 3rd has Veydal Wrasse (Minnow). I've never caught anything worthwhile from Pond 2, but there must be something. I've tried targeting 3eye fish, but haven't got one yet.

I've been only using copied mazes so far, but i'm saving up to make my own ideal mazes. After quite a few runs, the only thing i have to show for it is a few runes and a Heron Ring. Saltwater runs suck big time because the brothers often get the Three-eyed fish and bone me, so I am hoping to avoid it completely if possible.

Also, I caught 4 Monkie-Onkes in a row right at the start of my last MMM run. >.>;;; However, that is far from the norm. I usually start there just to fish it out faster so the brothers can't take advantage of it.

I got my friend his Seagull ring on a copied maze I randomly picked up.
It's got runes 111, 020, 019, 094, and 104. Dropped the ring and brigrands.

I've seen 2x Seagull's and 1x Heron from fairly basic freshwater runs. Like I said before, I'd just go directly to the main pond with frog lure until it was empty, then moved to small pond to the left with worm lure. Pretty easy wins generally.

Just finally got around to doing my Brigand's Chart... I brought 2 friends to pull the Pugil off me...

Got chest > chest > fish > ran out of time.

You get a chart then save up a bunch more marlins so your friends can hold the fish from the first pop while you go trade more marlins to get another chart then come back and do it again without having to worry about fishing up the pugil. I've done ~5 or 6 charts like this before. The pugil rages at some point but you can just zone it to buburimu and the rage will reset.

The later posts have more of what you're looking for.

Best run I did was getting myself and two others brigand's charts, and stockpiling 117 marlins on myself. Use the first chart, and if you don't pull up a mob, oh well, maybe you got a penguin ring; if you pull up a mob, have one of the other two people hold it. If you didn't pull up the mob, you might consider calling the event off, turning in marlin to get another chart, and restocking those marlin.

If you did pull up a mob, hold it, and have the other two people use their charts. They will not fish up another mob, and you will always fish up your 4th chest (and maybe 5th, if you are lucky) because you will no longer be able to fish up a monster from the event. Once those two charts are used, warp to selbina, turn in more marlin, get another chart, use chart, and repeat until you are out of marlin and charts.

Puffer Pugil increases in strength every 15 minutes or so. When it becomes intolerable, a quick zone into Bibiki Bay and back will reset his strength.

My last experience with those 3 pre-obtained charts + 117 marlin netted me 5 rings (1 run no ring, one run fished up mob, last 5 runs rings). Though I might have been lucky.

Well, that's why I said you save up a whole bunch of marlins so you've got a really good chance of getting another chart (or more). If you know other fishermen who are in need of rings this is a really good way to knock out a whole bunch at once, since others can be popping their charts while you're off trading more marlins to get another chart for yourself and then they can be trading more marlins while you're doing your chart, etc. Really, it doesn't seem like too much trouble because you get a MUCH higher chance of getting a ring this way since you're almost guaranteed to get an extra chest. Would really suck trying to get rings if you're only doing 1 chart at a time...

edit: Also, if trying this you can also just save a pirate's chart so that it forces you to get brigand's every time.
