/yawn Just woke up early and thought to myself "Today is the day I cap on Fishing Smock and get it made." So... here I go, the final lvl 34-44 stretch.
No need for a guide fellas. Especially since I assume you both have an Apron from fishing and/or another craft.
Just start on Juice from lvl 0~5(7), then start crafting on your Fisherman Apron or any crafting Apron if you have it up until 44 or whenever you wish to successfully create it. Electro, if you have Alchemist Apron, it's even better than the others, since it composes of 4 elements to skill up on, instead of the usual 3. You'll both also want to purchase rocks and have fewell made via Alchemy.
At least, this has been what I've been doing.
I think fishing smock caps at 40. Could be wrong but i didnt get any skillups after like 8 attempts. Someone please verify.
Accidental success on my smock @ lvl 35. Early yays. XD

Ahh well, still have Alchemist's Apron to skill up on, and now an epic smock to fish with. >_> Just need Ebisu...
Lol @ sounding out shocox!
All right got my Smock at Lv6 Synergy! Thought a friend of mine did help out. Man it really does get easier with friendsWish MMM wasn't being so stupid. Damn brothers keep finding that 3 Eyed Fish way too quickly....
Does anyone have any tips for the Saltwater MMM?
I have managed to win once using Large MMM bait and my Lu Shangs, but I got no bites the second time I tried that.
I'm still not exactly sure what the best way is to level Synergy via failcrafting an apron. Do you just keep spam-feeding it the wrong element, or what? Does it blow up a bunch of times (i.e. will my level 20 Alchemy mule die if I try this on him)? Sorry if I missed it in the main Synergy thread. Even if my mule wouldn't survive, I'd still like to do this on my main with the fishing apron.
Since aprons have 2 different elements just spam feed one of the two and ignore the other.
Id suggest if your doing fishermen's spam feed the ice one since its paralyze effect every 2/3 feeds actually wont stop you from continuing. Id get 25% of the time a occasional "urat is paralyzed and can not operate the furnace" but other than that easy prey.
Slow process, is slow, but if you can successfully stun the esplosions you'll actually get decent skillups from that as well.
We do strictly Saltwater, for the Pirate Chart drop. Saltwater is definitely tougher than the freshwater, but I like the challenge. Whether you get bites or not is totally random, sometimes i'll be the one that catches every fish for our group, while the next run it'll be me with 0 bites, etc.
We go with anywhere from 2-6 people, and my setup all depends on what we're trying to fish - I will start with Large MMM balls and Ebisu, and try to land some big number fish, turning in each fish after catching it. If the competition starts to get close, or you're within 200 pts of winning, usually i'll throw on a Shrimp Lure and grab like 3-4 ogre eels and its a sure win. (because the eels bite fast and can be reeled in fast)
we will lose the Saltwater competition maybe 1/5 runs - but yes, its nowhere NEAR as easy as the freshwater.
That sounds unfortunate...I thought apron failing was supposed to be the cheap way.
Hmm, are you refilling fewell at NPC? That's like 100g per fewell, crafting is 10~20gil per fewell, not to mention stacks of crystals may even be cheaper than NPC refill. On average, I've spent 2k per level up of Synergy. Sometimes 1k, sometimes 3k. Just find an Alchemist to craft some orbs, or do it yourself (NQ saves gil too, only a level 35 synth)
Apron failing is the cheap way really. Some blow ups it will say "a minimal amount of (element) was lost" and that is 1~3 fewell lost. If you refill fewell cheaply, that's only a loss of 60gil. Not to mention there is no "start up" cost of gather materials then selling results. imo, done right, synergy is very very cheap to level up, but it just takes a very long time and is slow going.
I bought 50k worth from NPC, yeah.. Spamming water/ice to get my apron gets awfully expensive...
And synthing the fewell is fine and all, but Slime Oil is at 20k a stack right now, so that gets awfully expensive as well. I'm going to look into some new options over the holidays.
Sub THF and kill some in Korroloka Tunnel?
Yeah, Slime Oil kinda drops like candy even with only TH1.
I raised some dead taru at a Synergy Crucible who then saw me failing my Smock synth... he was Japanese and directed me to Port Windurst to meet up with his main, who synergized it for me :D
Fisherman's Smock: {Found it!}
(don't worry, I'll be skilling synergy on my cooking apron :D)
Been doing MMM nearly every single day since it came out, still no fucking seagull ring. -_-
