I've only gone twice, didn't have summon out the first time I went and we wiped, then went back with the above strat and won.
Didn't know you didn't need to fish, I assumed that's what got the mobs to pop. Handy to know for next time seeing as it's not like you need the nets lol.
I think you need to have a rod and bait equiped to start the BC though? Or is that just the other one?

Just got home from work. Today's GP item is Red Terrapin. Kida's DB has best setup for these as Shell Bugs at Kightswell in Ronfaure. Clan Wind's DB says they will bit on frog lure but doesn't say how well. Anyone have any experence with these?
I don't really want to go farm shell bugs. :|

Back in 2004 (so long before patch) when I started playing, La Theine Plateau South-east lake was an awesome place for Red Terrapins. That was with Frog Lure if I remember correctly. I would try there...

Nice I'll try there next time they come arround.
At Knightswell I was getting a few catfish, but then I caught like 6 Terrapins in a row. Only needed that many for GPs, so bite rate isn't too bad. I don't really like to use bait if I can help it.
I'd really like SE to add more crafting equipment. A fishing hat for example that you could keep all your lures in/on just like a real one! This would mean they took up less space in inventory. Something like that would be really nice and would make you look like a proper fisherman!

u can solo the ring pretty easy if you know how to screw them by using the pathing bug

but you need a higher level friend around so he can clear the goblin bounty hunters for you

Another GP item question… Yesterday’s was Jungle Catfish. I’ve had this before and I remember fishing all 4 up in about 15mins or so. Seemed really easy last time.
I don’t recall exactly where I fished last time; it was underground somewhere in one of those little watering holes probably not far from one of the OPs. I used either Sinking minnow or trout balls.
Last night however was totally different.
It was like I was fatigued, even though I had not fished at all since JP midnight. I would get over 10 “you didn’t catch anything” in a row, or just fish up monsters. I tried loads of places in both zones. Couldn’t even get one to bite. I’m 93 fishing now, so it shouldn’t of been that hard to get them to bite, and like I said before I didn’t have any problems last time.
I hate buying GP items, doesn’t feel right to me, but I’m so desperate to get SR, (only 15k to go now), I just caved in and bought from guild for 25k EACH… Q_Q

Anyone got any tips on catching these for next time? Has this kind of thing happened to anyone else?

I never targetted this specific fish, but what you say sounds a lot like using a wrong bait ><

edit: maybe not, friend just told me he had several similar experiences, "catfish is a nightmare".

I looked on Wiki, Kida's, and Clanwind for bait. All say Troutballs or sinking minnow. I tried both a lot, didn't even get 1 to bite.
Do they only come out at night or something?

Back on what you said about buying GP items not being right, I used to think that way as well. But since GP items are often annoying (been doing cooking lately), and since I don't want to deal with annoying things when I play a game, I now choose alternate ways to get my items. For instance, instead of spending a couple hour trying to fish Jungle Catfishes, you could run to SSG and catch 20-30 Grimmonites that you will sell at AH, to fund your GP items.

Sounds dumb huh ? But well, it works pretty well for me, and I'm kinda motivated day after day, to trade in my items...Plus I love seeing my Delivery Box filled with gil =)

I have no problem catching Jungle Catfish, usually it take 10 min max to be done.
I would suggest to try the side of Temple's main entrance.

Yea, I've never had trouble getting Jungle Catfish at Temple of Uggalepih. I would suggest that next time.

I'll try that round pond near SSG next time though, as it looks cake to get to.
Should have SR Monday or Tuesday! Then I can start Ebisu. :D Can't wait.
Can you actually make money of Liks and that selling to other people wanting Ebisu? I was thinking of just bazaring overnight in Selbina with some, see what price I could get for them. There doesn't seem to be much of a market for them on my Server.

I see a few people bazaaring Liks on Lakshmi (at Selbina Fishing Guild or in Rolanberry Fields). Prices go from 10 to 30k, but I don't think they sell well. Same guy has had Ebisu for months and still has some in his Bazaar.

Minions posted asking "can i turn in liks and gugrus before i get sea serpent rumors?" and someone said "you can't catch those fish without the key item."

But I'm asking a slightly different question.

My question is, can i BUY the liks and gugrus and get them gutted in the Inside the Belly quest from Zaldon and receive the two Rare/Ex items BEFORE i get the "Sea Serpent Rumors" key item.

In other words, is getting the Sea Serpent Rumors key item and starting the Indomitable Spirit quest a trigger for Zaldon to be able to find the two Rare/Ex items from Lik/Gugrusaurus, or can I get the two Rare/Ex items by getting AH Lik/Gugrus gutted by Zalon, save them in my inventory til I get SSR key item, and then trade them in to finish the quest and get the rod.

In other words, will Zaldon be unable to find Saber Shoot / Opal Silk if I haven't started the Indomitable Spirit (Ebisu Rod) quest yet? To put it differently, would I be wasting tons of gil buying Liks/Gugrus and gutting them before I get Sea Serpent Remnants and start Indomitable spirit quest, or can I get the Shoot/Silk now and get the Key item / Start the quest later?

I know it's kind of a complicated question I hope it is more clear now--just trying to figure out if the Indomitable spirit quest and Inside the Belly Shoot/Silk results are totally independent so I can periodically buy Liks/Gugrus on my way to getting my Sea Serpent Rumors key item.

I just caught some Liks and gave them to my friend to trade, he got silk after 10th fish and he does not have SR.
