Not sure this fits here, but, oh well, made this not too long ago with 11 synergy skill:

Oh ya @ talacca with cooking I got sick of my inventory being packed full of mats and sushi. I ended up just npcing all fish. I didn't personally find the time/inventory worth the difference. Then again I wanted to bltzkreig to 100 so it's all personal preference.
Got a Mercurial Sword on the 3rd Ryugu I ever fished up lol
I've been using a Minnow targeting Merc's and avoiding Ahtapots. I have been using stamina rings I gotten long time ago here/there but as of late I just been going at it and fighting them normally.
I did get a batch of skill ups on Monday, first I've seen in 3 days. Should I use a Shrimp Lure and use rings and target both Ahtapots and Merc's, or just stick to minnow and merc's?

Erlayn, definitely go for the shrimp lure now to target mercs/pots. You'll struggle a bit till you get a couple more levels - especially after the easy time on the istrid's. But well worth it.
Finally got my fishing high enough to catch Dil with ease. Just hit 52 today, and loving the fact that I can turn these fish into quite a bit of profit. I just fish them up, then go buy the mats and craft them. I also have a mule that I sell cooking stuff on, so my inventory isn't too greatly affected. Fishing up just Dil's and Merc's @ Talacca with shrimp lure.
Edit: Eww, just found out about fishing contest. 525 got me 29th place, nobody got over 600 for the Gugru Tuna's, but the highest was like 549.
Whats the best way to get my Big One to work it's magic while still capping storage space?
Worked like a charm. Now which way to rotate them so I get that hidden bonus urat was talking about?
I kid, I kid.
You want them all to face the window, also you need to organize them in accordance to the Fibonacci sequence in a 10x10 matrix along the back wall of your mh, then get your moogle to perform a pagan fish sacrificing ritual to unlock the hidden super moghancement mode.
It gives you +200 fishing skill and lets you catch more than one liks and gugrasauruses per cast, and makes it rain wherever you walk.
In return you need to give up your soul to the fish demons however but its soooo worth it.
3 Mannequins + either 3 of: Commode, Chiffonier, or Cabinet works great.
Pretty poor question but is there a recommended order of getting the fishing guild items? Nearing 10 skill so yea still a ways off from starting XD
I've been thinking about this too and I think the best order would be:
Waders>Apron>Map=Rumors=Signboard.
Not sure about Mooching though- I've heard mixed feelings about it.
Depends on how eager you want your ebisu or how you go about skilling up daily i would say. For me, i went Rumors> Signboard > Waders > Apron.
If you are like me that fished to cap everyday for 2weeks straight with pelican, you should get at least level 80 by then so i suggest you get rumors first to trigger the quest. Then just mass buy the ebisu fishes and grats!!!!!!
Edit: Or you can just mass buy once you hit 30 for belly's quest and decide how you want to spend your GP. Maybe you start saving up for rumors when you go 1/1 on silk/shoot... You never know!
The waders, apron and fishing hole map had an unnoticeable effect on my fishing. Even tried testing with/without and got results all over. They just look cool, set you apart from the fish bots haha. The only guild item that is ever really needed is serpent rumors if you plan on doing the ebisu quest.
Mooching is really only good for catching matsya now I guess. If you're after the ebisu quest fish, it's better time spent to just farm up a few sets of rings from charts.
Thanks for the responses all!
University will start in a week so been fishing what I can in the mean time. Even then, often I can not fish to cap and tend to average around 60-100 attempts (not always actual successful catches). Likely it will stay around 5 stacks of bait at my current level when university starts so it'll be a slow road ahead of me.
Ebisu Rod quest is something I'd like to do but that will also be a slow road ahead of me so I am in no hurry. Getting moat carps still for Lu Shang as well (yes yes I know "lol")
Don't have Pelican Ring yet but planning to try to obtain one.
Assuming the way I currently fish (and during university) this path wouldn't put me behind on getting Rumors when at the appropriate level? Luck is involved I realize but it appears to be the better path.
Odd, one time I forgot to reset my Moglification from Map+Sign and Ryugu Titans were very noticeably harder. Usually I don't need Albatross ring on them, but w/o the 2 furnishings I'd get time message or fail. I noticed you didn't mention Signboard, which Map is just +1 skill, whoopie. But Sign has extra effect "and makes it slightly easier to reel in your catch"
imo, skill only helps for legendaries (the ones that are higher than 100 skill) to bring you closer, or over their cap. Just eyeball (I know sorry) but I get less line snaps when I go full out with fishing guild support and armor.
My ideal for GP items would be: Rumors > Sign(buy the big one) > Map(sell the big one) > Apron(synergize into awesome Smock) > Waders > Belt(if you forget, or support wears) >> Mooching(maybe it will be more useful in future or you use EX bait often >> Frog Fishing(hey, I used this twice before!)
