I didn't know where to put this. I figured fishing forum would be a good spot... We met Poooky on the boat today and watched as he MPK'd some rmt... They actually use perfect dodge and tried to run away....... Then one of them started talking in /say.

We had a guy doing that for a while on Lakshmi. He would ride the boat all day long fishing Titans, and MPK the local RMTs everytime he could. When the boat was in Selbina or Mhaura, he would POS-hack into the water, tractor the RMTs dead bodies and POS-hack again back on the boat...and RMTs were stupid enough to accept tractor most of the time.

Well the POS-hack part probably got him banned because last time I saw him was a while ago. Good times.

In other news, I've been stuck at 68.9 without a single skillup in the last few days, despite getting 40+ Grimmonites and 3 stacks of Breams in SSG, and then 6 stacks of Soles and 20+ Squids in Qufim...all this using skillup ring full time too. I don't know what's going on but it's my worst unlucky streak ever. Well at least it's good money...

On Lakshmi both Lik and Gugru go for 30k. Saw a mule selling 30~ Liks at the Selbina guild yesterday, 1 hour later they were sold out. A couple mules in Rolanberry also have some for sale on a regular basis at 25-35k usually. Let's say you need hmmm 50 of each before you get your items :

50*30.000 + 50*30.000 = 3M for the rod. You know, it's actually not that bad...Not so far from Lu Shang's cost when you think about it.

Sells slower here, none really sell on AH. I bazaar them at zaldon for 20k/ea and am lucky if any sell Server shift and buy all my fish gogo! jk but yeah, seems like hardly anyone on my server pays for fish

I see multiple threads on different topics from other crafts, yet when I make posts about fishing questions specific to the Ebisu Rod outside this thread, people jump all over it and Aurik locks my posts. Is there some rule that fishing-related stuff can only go in this one thread? I don't understand.

Hmm I searched through this thread for my question and didn't find it, and I scanned the page to see questions about corsair's gun+1 and hauby+1 etc., so I thought a new thread about the holy grail of fishing wouldn't be out of place, but people said I was posting in the wrong place and was retarded. I think I was respectful in both of the threads I posted, so I don't really understand where all the criticism is based.

In any event, the answer to my question is that you can get the Saber Shoot/Opal Silk from Zaldon even before you get the Serpent Rumors (and thus before you can flag the Indomitable Spirit quest).

All in all I went 1/71 on the Opal Silk (10k per Lik, 710k in all) and 1/90 on the Saber shoot (20k per Gugru, 1.8M in all). So in the end I spent about 2.5M on the rare/ex items for the Ebisu Rod. For comparison, the Lu Shangs on my server (Ifrit) goes for 1.9M-2M. If anyone on Ifrit wants to buy Liks and Gugrus so that they can get Ebisu at lvl 78 as well, Catori hooked me up and has a huge supply of Liks and Gugrusaurus.

It's called forum etiquette. It should have been obvious from the mass of locked threads by Aurik, with comments like “don’t make shitty topics”, that certain things are accepted and others are not. You’re not allowed to make separate topics about fishing when there’s already a huge thread on many aspects of fishing, not because someone has said so or it’s a rule, but because there is no need too and it’s a stupid idea.
While you’re not allowed to post shitty topics about fishing, I’m not allowed to QQ about BLM.

Things would have been different if you had made a topic that said, hey guys, this didn’t seem to be on BG anywhere, and I’ve looked on loads of other FFXI / Fishing / Wiki sites and couldn’t find an answer to this, so I did some testing myself, and here are the results. If you had done that people would have thought much better of you, but still said you should have posted in the fishing topic.

To come here and make a new topic asking for an answer to something you can’t be bothered to find out for yourself when there is already a perfectly good topic for asking any question that falls under the category of fishing is just asking for a flaming.
People are harsh here because they don’t want it to turn into a moron fest like Zam and KI. If you can’t handle the heat, be better or GTFO.

I've been fishing marlins along with the tuna needed for the current fishing contest, and did 4 pirate's chart quests. (If anyone's tracking drop rates, I got pirate's chart around 1/8, 1/1, 1/8, and 1/7 trades. I'm level 77.)

The first two times I did it with another fishing friend, both of us on smn, and we messed up the BP timing and beat it once, barely. Got a ring and the polearm. The next two times I did it solo: During the first fight my 1st BP was a little too late, so Ramuh died rather quickly, and I didn't have enough distance to resummon before they caught up with me Then during the second fight I made sure to run immediately after the 1st BP, and stand still for the 2nd BP, but for some reason my BP macro didn't work, and Ramuh ended up hitting one with the other two chasing me down.

I'm really not a very good summoner, obviously, so my question is: The Japanese smn solo fight used Fenrir, Titan, and then Carbuncle melee. In my own fights, Carbuncle's Searing Light only did 70 dmg instead of Ramuh's 200 When I'm not fighting on Lightningday, which BPs would be the best? Or should I just aim to use Ramuh and Fenrir exclusively even if the days aren't quite aligned?

And are there any other tips for fighting, besides rewatching the video again?

can the eastern versions of fish replace part of a western recipe, or does it have to be full eastern fish or full western fish. if you dont understand what i mean could you say, replace the grimmonites in a tav. salad with ahtapots, while still using noble lady etc
