Way back in the thread there's several discussions on it, I and I think 2 others have noticed it.

To sum it up, there seems to be a random chance after you've been fishing for a long time (about an hour~hour and a half for me) in same zone, the Ebisu seems to go into some kind of god mode for a few minutes

Your bite rate skyrockets and you'll hook fish like mad. Not only that but you drop Liks hp must faster (I have an SS somewhere on this thread of me taking one down with no rings) and your line snaps go to almost 0.

It lasts for a good 2-3 minutes from my experience and then fades off. The rare time it happens to me I've managed to successfully land 6-7 liks back to back.

It feels like it oscillates after the first shot, coming back on and off every 20-30 mins.

Due to its random and unpredictable nature we're still very unsure if its just us fishermen going crazy from sitting at lagoon for 6 hours a day and seeing a lucky streak, or if it is legitimate.

With all these new ebisu holders I wanna know if anyone else has had this happen?

On a side note I am starting to consider it may only proc when you have guild support, as I don't ever recall having it happen without it.

The other day I was fishing and I was talking on AIM with my fishing buddy... I remember saying:

nitsuj: Whoa weird.. I just caught 2 Lik in a row.
    nitsuj: Uhh 3.
    nitsuj: 4.
    nitsuj: 5....
    nitsuj 6?
    nitsuj 7 WTF....
Then I went like an hour without netting one. So in all honesty it's probably just coincidence (i.e. I flipped a coin 20 times and #7 - #15 all came up heads!) but it seems to back up your hypothesis at least.

I don't believe in that "ebisu rage" you talk about. Concerning increased bite rates, that's just the way fishing goes: Most time you get average bites rates, and other times you geta bunch/none at all. Just your basic bell curve statistics.

I've never experienced the ridiculous stamina depletion. Have all GP items, wearing all gear, fishing support, etc.

And if I recall correctly, part of your "ebisu rage" theory was based off your watching someone else fish up a lik within a matter of a few seconds. Later, it was found out he was using a fishing program to kill the fish's stamina.

Edit: Or whoever came up with the theory. Might not have been you, I don't recall. But I do know someone who vicariously "confirmed" the theory by watching someone else fish later redacted their statement because they found out the person was using 3rd party tools.

Second edit: Granted, I do zone every 4 or 5 charges (1:20-1:40) when fishing liks, because recasting your line begins to slow down (i.e. at that point, spamming /fish macro, you get 3 "You must wait longer" messages instead of 2); zoning resets that type of fatigue. And fishing gugrus = constant zoning. So I haven't entirely disconfirmed the possibility that staying in the same place for an extended period of time without zoning enables an "ebisu rage" mode. Though it still sounds kind of silly, and if there was a noticeable effect, it seems there would be a lot more evidence (in terms of people sharing the same observation) at this point.

Moar edits: Every half hour = dawn/dusk. You could just be observing increased bite rates (and therefore, more catches) during these times that fish have been reported to be exceptionally active.

As much as Id like to say it is fluke, the sudden change is really too much and too dramatic for me to consider it fluke.

To not just have bite rate go up, but stamina depletion line strength as well, all at once in noticeable amount, I dunno.

As for the stamina depletion that was something else entirely, that was moglification XP

Next time I get the rage mode I'll SS the results. I have a few here from cave cherax as well.

    Edit: Found some old ones.

Right when you see me losing enchantment, I got some kind of penguin ring effect on cherax, 100% reel in, basically ebisu went all crazy on me.

I think the ebisu range theory holds as much water (pun intended) as your previous overwhelming water theory AND your theory that wearing +water element gear increases bite rate. Random shit is random. I think my record is something like successfully reeling in 11 straight gugs. Sure it was great but I paid for it later with a lot of no bites and snapped lines. I can't say I'm surprised someone else has "seen it" because they *WANT TO*. If you really want to find out something concrete on the ebisu that has not yet been confirmed go back and figure out the hidden fishing skill it has. We confirmed awhile back using different skill levels, and rods, that Ebisu forces an auto-depletion on fish it "shouldn't" while the Lu does not and breaks these confirmed rules:

Fishing skill 13 levels above capped = Auto-depletion
    Fishing skill -24 to 12 = Stagnant
    Fishing skill -25 and below = Auto-regen

Note: I don't intend to bring this up for the purpose of arguing/morality of "bot fishing"/shame. It is simply a point for others to consider.

http://www.bluegartr.com/forum/showt...kitaro&page=78, where you admit to using a botting program.
(and then the next page for the "rage" discovery)

...I was blatantly fishbotting. I was reeling in a legendary fish in 5 secs flat...
I just used the bot on the annoying stuff, like rarer legendaries that have terrible bite rates and the guild only wants 3, and for making money on trumpet shells
Further, http://www.bluegartr.com/forum/showt...ge#post3055271, wherein you dispell the "water strength/moglification" myth given to you by another fisherman:

"As for the moglification, that one was from me standing beside me friend and watching, and as I've recently found out, I wasnt the only one bot fishing there..."

"I know there are bots out there that can instantly kill a fish, so he may have been stating that simply to provide explanation as to why he was fishing up liks so easily."
It is a bit concerning that literally two days after you (Urat) admitted to using a fishing program, that you discovered this rage mode that very quickly depletes a fish's stamina without the need for rings (and which also triggers only after long periods of time fishing in the same zone).

Sounds like the perfect excuse for someone who sees you never moving from a single spot in a zone for hours upon end, and accuses you for being able to fish up liks/other fish in record amounts of time without fishing enchantments. "I wasn't botting. I was in rage mode!"

Again, I don't mean to be accusative. I'm just giving my impression of the situation. When I get some proper time, I may dedicate myself to spending a day fishing liks without zoning to test the theory. Worst case scenario, I make a lot of money by fishing lik.

Edit: /wave Aihree. Sorry, read the post, but didn't read the name.

I agree. Fishing is fishing, random days.

I've never experienced "ebisu rage" the way it has been described as 20~30min after being in a zone. I did however pull up 8 Gugrusaurus in a single ferry ride, 7 of which were "in a row". So that was nice, but the zone doesn't even last 18min

On a serious note we should figure out the hidden fishing skill attribute to Ebisu. I just really am not looking forward to digging back and compiling everything. We narrowed it down to something like 78/ebisu would not auto deplete a ryugu but 79/ebisu would, and we were then trying to determine exactly what level ryugus are.

I just accepted the "newest" Ebisu update was +5~10 fishing skill (Kinda lame normally, but omgwtfbbqsauce awesome for Lik/Gugs/other Legendaries). No help in stamina/reeling I've noticed

I'm talking out my ass sort of since I still haven't gone back and figured out the exact numbers, but I thought based off of old tests the hidden skill was 20+.

edit I just found this in an old notepad

Aha, the slightest autodepletion on Titanictus at +1 skill but NOT at +0.

I'm sure of it, I got it down real low and let it sit and it went to 0.
I can't remember what level the guy was though with ebisu =\

Actually Nibu, as of the 13.37 rmt pwner auto killing fish is detectable like pos hacking.

Instaban, so no I certainly am not and was not doing that XP

    Edit:

But maybe you guys are right, maybe all this is just me trying to derive patterns out of nonsense.

I don't know if I believe that. Only reason I say that is I had a friend level his mule's fishing that way, with auto kill. When I asked him if he was paranoid about doing that he said he's been doing it for months without consequences, lol.

I was reading over some forums and apparently a bunch of people got banned for it left right and sideways when they used the ffassist dll or whatever one it was the killfish function was written on.

Im not sure if it was dll specific or just the new system checking for rapid fish hp changes. If the first then maybe your friend is using the new FFACE function which might not be detectable. Yet.

Or maybe its just salvage ban style of SE sitting at waiting for people to use it then mass ban them all. Either way after almost losing ebisu I am staying the hell away from all that :/

    Once was enough for me

+20 skill sounds more right & plausible, yes. Ebisu just made it so fracking easy (with molification sign/map, all gear, rings) to catch Lik/Gugru compared to Lu

As far as I know, no data is sent to the server to notify it of a change in the fish's HP.
only packet that is sent is when you have "won" the mini game.
This is of course unless they have changed it. I belive you will get auto banned if you complete the mini game faster than is possible without memhax.

it's a bit like the flee tool thing, use it a bit and you can get away with it, but zoom across a zone in no time at all, and ur gone.

I use my Ebisu everyday and really, I haven't noticed any rage mode.

Something I notice occasionally is I have a hard time depleting the fish from 100% to 50% but after I hit that point, 50% to 0% HP is a piece of cake.

Especially on fishes that tend to move a lot like Ryugu Titan or Lik.

I just hit 60 fishing, and I'm noticing something really weird.

I don't think it happened before 60, only after, but on 'ligis and Ahtapots in Nashmau, I'm seeing auto-depletion.

I thought auto-depletion was supposed to happen only when you were 20 levels ABOVE the fish in question - not 26-30 levels below the fish in question.

I do have bronze-coin support from the al'zahbi guild, which activates seagull ring, but I don't remember noticing this effect prior to hitting 60, and I've had seagull on and activated since mid-40's.

Am I just blind to this having worked before 60, or is it some 60+seagull effect?

edit: Took seagull off, I see auto-regen (not auto-depletion) so I guess it was seagull doing it... but I really don't remember it happening before 60.

Apologies, for being too lazy to search entire thread:

    Fishing skill 21
    Mhaura >< Selbina Route
Setup: Halcyon Shrimp Lure Seagull Support, tragetting nebs/nobles

    It's only been since I hit 21, that i'm getting line breaks on what i feel to be nobles. Is there something else biting that acts like nobles that can break this setup? Been pulling up nobles for 6 lvls or so, with no breaks prior to hitting 21 and today I've had 4 in 2 rides ;;
