Nobles can in fact break a halcyon line. Lost a few shrimp lures that way before I decided to just go to SSG for the neb path. In SSG it was easier for me to just cancel !!!'s than try to figure out what would break lines.

If you prefer ferry fishing for nebs, use crayfish balls for bait instead of shrimp lures, which won't catch noble ladies.

Anyone who fishes Cave Cherax regularly care to give me their avg. catch/hr rate? I went down there recently with some time on my hands before heading out for lunch and pulled up 31 in about an hour. I got pretty stoked..until I tried it again later and was getting closer to 17/hr over about 2 hours. I'm guessing my initial session was just really good, but I'm wondering if the norm is somewhere in between or closer to the 17.

There's two very different catch/hour or cast/catch rates for me at the king's fountain.

The first is when no weather element is present, gives me around a 1/3 cast/catch rate.

The latter is when weather is up in the zone and it all goes to hell for me. I'll get didn't catch msg 20times in a row or more with weather. Whenever a element would pop I'd just afk so can't give a you a cast/catch rate, it's that bad. Also the small pool can suffer from the overfishing problem. Was a common place for the afk ebisu fish botters on my server at one time. With 3 ebisu bots going vs myself trying I'd get zero bites with no fatigue/weather up.

I think it was about ~7-8 per ring, so around 14-16/hr for me, it has been months so can't be specific. But i know one thing for certain 31/hr never happen for me, lol. Highest "Didn't catch anything" streak is around 40ish+ in a row on cave cherax. Might have taken some ss somewhere.

Wouldn't that be 21-24/hr, since rings are 20 mins?

In actuality it was more like 28/29, since I caught 2 or 3 within 5 mins before I started popping charges to see what the catch rate was like and just folded those extras in.

The one thing about "Didn't catch anything"'s at FoK: they seem to happen quicker than with a lot of other areas. They happen a lot, but the rod isn't out for extended periods of time. Might just be false perception, but it seems to get reeled back in after a shorter duration.

I found Cave Cherax catch rates horrible compared w/ptery's (see my whining further back in the thread)... The worst is the line breakage - at full depletion come on!!!
However, you can skill up on a line break - that's how i got my last .2 for 100.

I had the added incentive that the Contest fish this month is Cherax, so if I didn't get 100 before my ring ran out at least I'd have a good shot at a new ring. Now, it will go to my mule, along with my Lu's and DO IT ALL AGAIN!!! (trying the 8-99 mule-in-NashmauNPC method to see how much cash it really makes).

I did this on a mule, and I averaged 50k/day up to 53 (npcing everything since I didn't have a bonecraft), and 150k/day after 53(still npcing everything), and I could afford a Shang's by the time I was in my 80's

I would highly recommend this as well, since I do it. Paid for half a stack of Imp. Wootz ingots while waiting for windows and events to start. 8)

I bought a MMM fishing map and tried for the first time last night... I would have won but was nervous, having no clue if I could solo it or not and fished up 3 monsters, each eating 3 of my giant catfish

Just curious from you guys, since I've done a whopping 5 MMM's in my life, on other people's maps:

1) Is it definitely soloable? It really seemed so, had I not fished up the mobs.

2) Do I want to only go once a week to get the ring(s) for C.C., or can I just spam it every night?

1. Yea, it's definitely soloable, mobs are just like regular fishing where their energy will deplete much faster than a fish. I always soloed fresh water with minnow/sinking minnow in the first 2 ponds.

2. When I first started I waited for CC, 10 times (7 of which having full 6 CC, other three were 4-5 CC) and never got anything from the CC chest. Then I just started going every day and had both rings within a week. So I would not recommend waiting.

What lvl have Turnabaligi been confirmed to cap at I can't find a solid answer anywhere lol, I see some say 98 some say maybe 104, I'm at 90 almost 91 atm, fishing up dil's in talacca cove, mostly cause I use them to make sole sushi and make money off ahtapots/mercabaligi also, but I'm not quite sure what I want to do once I hit 96 capping on dil, i want to be making gil while I'm skilling and probably be making less when not synthing some sushi, but I was thinking Turnabaligi and trying to get some ores in the process, although I should be smart and go cherax to get pugils to get closer to the ebisu possibility lol.

sox go back a couple pages in here and you'll see my qq'ing start around 95 on pterys due to slow skill ups - but if inventory/gil are the driver they are good to cap.

I went 98-100 on Cherax and had no rod breaks (don't know if that was lucky ymmv). Go to QC though not KT.

Contest is longest Gavial Fish on Rag this go-round, ends in the middle of next week. Currently have a 127/131, but reading some previous comments from a few months ago make me think I should push for a 130 or 131 to even place. How dead has the contest been lately, and is it worth it pushing for a slightly bigger number?

The contest is still going strong, and gavial fish is pretty easy to pull up so you'll have plenty of competition. When it was gugrusaurus (last contest? maybe one before) on rag I fished nothing but gugru for 2 weeks and gave the biggest one I got that whole time to a friend of mine to turn in and it was only 5th. Had plenty of people buying the bigger ones out of my bazaar too that whole time, and I always thought gugru was one of the fish with the least competition.

What do you do with the other drops? Are there super rare ones I want to look out for? I'm super new to this.

Obviously I know I can make my own maze, but the one I bought is pretty freaking awesome. First to 3000 points, I start at 450 with fishing support.

I was pretty much just going for rings, not sure what to do with the MMM stuff, anyways.
