Some interesting AH activity related to the new fish:

Blowfish, rusty spear, and rusty kunai (katana) all appearing back-to-back on the AH. Could mean that the rusty items are, indeed, related to gutting fish.

Confirms that all new fish are obtainable (rather than just existing in the .dats and being implemented later)

Again, we see all the new fish, as well as the rusty weapons (and their "unrusty" equivalents) all appearing very closely to each other.

Basically I just looked at single blowfish that had been sold on the AH, scrolled through the servers, and picked out these people who had sold one to themselves. There was a fourth person on Gilgamesh I didn't include, as well as someone from Carbuncle.

Are the "unrusty" items going to be worth a lot? I don't know the jobs they're used on well enough to know whether it's worth putting the effort getting a lot of these rusty items to sell (assuming they are from gutted fish).



And yeah, my guess would be that they're fished in Abyssea. The Dried Squid bait is probably a drop off of one of the mobs/NMs/treasure caskets in the area, which can then be used to fish up a NM. All just a conjecture, though.

So maybe gutting has nothing to do with anything. It's beginning to sound like you can pull up the rusty items (katana, spear, scythe, and shield) just like you would a rusty subligar or leggings, and there just happen to be fish in there as well. So I wonder what the fish are used for.

Rusty Kunai - Sinking Minnow, Meatballs *pic*

NM monster - Nahn (Red Crab, True Sound, half the size of a Hume) *pic*
Shrimp Lure no bites
Moat Carp -Insect Paste (seems to be only catch)
Crayfish -Slice of Moat Carp (seems to be only one)
Giant Catfish - Ball of Trout (Seems to be only one)
??? - Meatballs (Single but had terrible feeling with music of The Big Catch)
Without Rings was a bit tough to bring to 75% Was similar to a legendary

2nd time with rings - was similar to a Gugurasaurs. Took a while to drain it's HP and lost due to lack of skill (Ebisu + Moglification + 5 Skill armor + 100) *pic*

This has got to be a new Legendary. What it is I cannot say. Might be the Crocodile.

Next time I am in there (Saturday) I will fish exclusively on Meatballs till I catch that weird fish.

No. If you see the pics I just uploaded (sorry about that) that NM basically raped me in 3-4 hits. Took me by surprised since it popped while I had sneak and just started attacking.

I went in with Trout Balls, Meat Balls, Crap Slices, Insect Paste, Sinking Minnow and Shrimp Lure trying to quickly see what I can get with a few reels of each. If I had known Meatballs were the target bait I would have spent more time with them. In the last 13mins of my time there I only was able to reel it in twice. Moon Was 24% Late Waning Cresent on Watersday.

Least next time I'll just stock to hell on meatballs and just go to town. Had to use my Alba and Penguin rings cause I lost my Imagry from the death I took at the hands of the NM.

I noticed in the pics that the fish you lost due to "lack of skill" was a "Terrible feeling" fish with only a single "!" mark, which is really interesting. That would mean it's a stackable fish under normal circumstances, but I've never seen "terrible" and "!" before (at least, not at 100; not sure if it's possible at lower fishing skill levels).

E: Sorry, looks like you mentioned the single "!" mark in your original post, I just glossed over it.

What made it weirder as well was the song was that of a non-stackable big fish as well. So it's a legendary single fish. Think it's the first time I have ever seen such a thing as well.

Hey all, first time poster in the fishing thread~

On my first Abyssea [La Theine] run (to activate the quest, or whatever it was we need to use our first stone for!) I decided to give a shot at this fishing thingy in the SE pond. I had a random stack of shell bugs on me I used to get a GP fish a few days ago, and tried them. I got the "terrible" + "!" message, and reeled a few of them in, turned out to be Pelazoeas, the bug-like thingies. Bite rate was rather good, except twice I must've hooked the legendary one as I received the same message but it had a fuckton of HP. Using alby I barely managed to drain 20% @ 68 skill.

So there are atleast two new fish who use the "terrible" + "!", and meatballs might be good for singling those out the legendary ones (didn't have any on me to test this though, sorry. Just a thought). Hope this helps!

Caught these 3 in Abyssea [La Thenie]. Support wore off as I entered so caught them with 85 Fishing + 4 from gear, Alb and Penguin were used.

Looks like there are three points around the lake that are used to pop NMs. Maybe you can trade the fish to one of those points?

Or, more likely, there's a quest you can do in that area that requests you to turn in those fish. Does anyone have a quest list for that area?

Also what pond were you fishing at to get them? I tried with robber rig on the pond right near conflux #4 and didnt get nay bites at all.

I just went Meatballs to catch the "Terrible feeling" with a single ! fish. I did hook quite a few rusty items though. All this was in the North Pond.

pelazoea appears to go for 734 for me in mhaura with decent fame. blowfish under same circumstances is 469.

Anyone else noticed less fishbots in Nashmau?

I just got my first "Hey are you AFK" message ("Please step away from the water etc) in Nashmau. I know people get those a lot fishing Trumpet Shells and other commonly botted places, but I've never got one in Nashmau.

Strangely, I'm also the only person fishing here today....

Sorry for what is probably a dumb question, but never having gotten one of these myself does the GM send you an actual /tell and then watch as you move away from the water or is it like a menu box where you click an option to indicate that you are physically at the computer?
