Has anyone seen pirates attack these last couple days, at least on Phoenix? I've been riding the ferry for about 8 hours now and still not a single attack. (yes, the selbina -mhaura one)

I'm used to pirates attacking every couple rides, wtf is going on here?

    ::edit:: True to FFXI form, when you complain about something, it pops right after. No sand charm drop though, and another person riding ship that also needs it now. -_-;

So after 7 years I have made up my mind to finally quit for real. Lots going on in real life(good stuff very good)

In the end I made up my mind to drop every item on me outside my E-Rod(gave away big items and gil)

But now I want to log out in a area that seems fitting for me. Fishing really was what made me stay with this game for many years, and I even came back once from quitting just to fish lol

So as a vet fisher. where do you think a ideal spot would be to log out? maybe in port sandy for when I got my Lu shang, or rabao for my E-Rod

Or on the boat where I hit 100. port windy also seems like a fitting spot. Just cant make up my mind.

    Thing is all the prices for buying went up and all the prices for selling plummetted. I still don't get some of the prices on AH, Jacardna logs often cost up to twice as much as the lumber >_>;

Bloodwood lumber completely died, people buying staves for 40~50K and selling lumbers for the same price. Its a desynth so the average quetz wwer (I think there were 3-4 of us) would sell em for close to double to make up for the epic break rates.

Really I'm down to making money catching squids and turning em into shihei, the rest of fishing is slowly and surely dying out. Just the prime 6, nebs, blues, calamary, nobles, breams, and soles.
I cannot speculate on the Bloodwood stave desynthesis screw up, as on Midgard it was profitable too. As for Jacardna Logs, its because people are currently using them to push for 100 Woodworking. Myself and 2 others have been constantly trying to outcamp each other at the AH for when logs pop so that we may use them for 99-100 Woodworking.

Where you hit 100 or ebisu, whichever you see as a bigger accomplishment.

For me, if I wanted to quit for good, I'd log out in front of Zaldon. That way if I ever reactivated my character, as soon as I logged on, I'd immediately remember why quitting is such a good idea.

Purgonorgo Isle and Manaclipper are very nice places. Not much in terms of fishing milestones in those areas, but great fishing-related scenery nonetheless.

I have 2 places I would log out. 1 is in The Boyahda Tree just because of a very special event that took place in there long ago that I hold very close to my heart. The other is.....damn I can't make up my mind. I love Gustaberg because I leveled all my jobs there at the start and the zone has my favorite track in the game. The Lighthouse makes for a great place to log out from. The Oasis in Altepa is nice looking place. And last my Mog House. I've spent years in there and it should be fitting at the end of my day as an adventurer I rest in there on last time.

As a fisherman, Oasis of Altepa or the lake in Lufaise where you catch Liks.

So after thinking about it, I think it is going to be as someone pointed out the ship(100) or Rabao(for E rod) I am leaning to Rabao because really the amount of time that I worked on that rod was just out of hand.

And getting that final item was just so great ~_~ I took so many pics of getting the item and then handing them in and waiting almost a full week(I got it late Monday night lol)

edit: I dont need a reason not to come back, I forced my hand. I dropped every item that I could not give away outside my E rod and novio. The two big items in the game that mean the most to me. Everything else I gave away

7 (almost 8...) years is my limit and with all that is going on in my life now its more then what is needed to keep me away.

Where ever you decide to be your final place I would suggest fishing until you get a bite then force dcing so you go out fishing.

Im prolly gonna go out in my fishing gear fishing between the 2 lu shangs brothers. Dead smack in the middle.

Lu shangs always has and probably always will be the biggest goal I've ever achieved in ffxi, took me over a year and a half of fishing to do.

So Im trying to figure out with ebisu now whats a good way to make some money again. Liks/gugras are out of the picture, itd be easier to just go after cave cherax tbh, so I'm not sure what makes money nowadays.

I was thinking going after ryugu titan for a shot at merc sword, or mola mola for something to zaldon for a shot at a nice profit item.

The elemental ore situation has hit rock bottom with abyssea dropping them all the time in gold chests, so thats kind of out of the picture.

As much as Id love to try more ele staves, I have currently gone 1/40 on them and have pretty much given up.

I didn't even realize FinalFisher was a bot when it was mentioned further up the page. I just assumed it was another fishing database like finalfishing.com.

    Good riddance.

So I started fishing on the 11th and I just hit guild points three or 4 days ago. I really like doing it so far, probably because I've never had a craft high enough to do guild points, because I gets me out of the usual places for fishing. Moorish Idols yesterday were reallllly nice. Ended up with like 4k points for 6 fish or something like that. Seems like it really doesn't take that long to accumulate points. Any annoying fish later on that I'll want to look out for? Oh, another question, great blue has Idols capping at 26, but wiki and finalfishing has them at 31? Which is correct?

Turned in around 3500 carp for Lu so I think I'm making decent progress. I had a lucky streak on the AH where Nebimonites were around 22k a stack so I was able to skill up and make massive profit to throw toward carp. They've dropped to 14k since then. For some reason I want to finish the quest instead of just buying a Lu. Not really sure what to skill on now while making profit. Noble ladies are a bit high, though I had two .2 skill ups on the the other day even though I was using a composite rod (Fishing Gugru tuna for the GF's cooking guild item) and didn't actually land them. Any tips on another fish to go for at 28.5?

Been working on Heron/Seagull rings with a friend for about a week and a half. Just landed out first Heron ring. I don't quite need them yet so I let him take the first and we're just going to switch off until we have the set. He's at 70 something fishing and he said Heron would be nice for Titans? We had a maze randomly give us a 5100 goal last night...The person entering for us said it was the same maze as the previous night so I'm not really sure wtf happened. Has anyone had a maze give a randomly high goal like that? Oh and with the Pelican ring...how often do you guys see the double skill proc? My first skill up with the ring active was .2 .2, but I haven't seen one since then, which was about 30 charges ago. Anyway, I've read through a lot of this thread and it's been very helpful. Thanks /

I got a chuckle out of this. I'm on the same server as you and I pulled in about 20m with my wood mule last month. No T0 synths involved.

Totally forgot about this topic since the forum moved. I'll leave you all with this though, whatever theories urat comes up with, disregard them and carry on as if you didn't read them.

Ok so I liked fishing for GP until yesterday and today...Bastore Sardines and Greedies? Seriously fuck this shit. 50-60 fish for minimal GP? Sigh.

Monday to thrusday in GP in general tend to lean more towards a billion little items for a little gp, while the weekend tends to have the bigger better items.

Just wait til you get Tricorn for a GP item, hahaha

Though tbh 4-5 stacks of greedies or whatever doesnt cost that much and it can be some ok GP, 2K helps you slowly march towards your goal.

Don't do what I did and just do the easy GP, once I hit like 90/100K GP on items you realize "shit if I had just bought those 5 stacks of greedies off the AH the other day I'd have my apron right now >.<"

Yeah...I did half of my Sardines yesterday on a mule because I had to turn in so many. Trying to not buy any fish for GP unless I really really need to. Wiki has a ? on Greedies being sold by the Ferry NPC so I'm going to check that tonight. Guess I can just do a sinking minnow in selbina if it comes down to having to fish them. Will be able to target greedies and bass while getting skill from the bass....Still blah at having to bring in 64 of them. Is there a list somewhere of the possible GP fish per rank or whatever?
