Yeah...I did half of my Sardines yesterday on a mule because I had to turn in so many. Trying to not buy any fish for GP unless I really really need to. Wiki has a ? on Greedies being sold by the Ferry NPC so I'm going to check that tonight. Guess I can just do a sinking minnow in selbina if it comes down to having to fish them. Will be able to target greedies and bass while getting skill from the bass....Still blah at having to bring in 64 of them. Is there a list somewhere of the possible GP fish per rank or whatever?

As a veteran fisher, generally nothing is worth fishing for GP until Apprentice-level fish and greater are being requested (I personally wait until Journeyman-level fish).

On a related note, I have 200k fishing GP, and I already have all the items. Never hurts to have extra in case I need to use my fisherman's signboard in a synergy synth!

Edit:

Monday to thrusday in GP in general tend to lean more towards a billion little items for a little gp, while the weekend tends to have the bigger better items.

Weekdays/Weekends have nothing to do with GP fish. Just use FFXIAH's guild pattern to see what to expect.

Ok so I liked fishing for GP until yesterday and today...Bastore Sardines and Greedies? Seriously fuck this shit. 50-60 fish for minimal GP? Sigh.

When you're 10k away from the moglification signboard, you will do bastore sardines and greedies... like I did.

i got maze rune 117 tonight while doing my fishing map. i've heard that salinity shift is bugged. how so? also, if i want to do a saltwater map, what lures should i use in each pond?

also, does conditioning contract do anything for the fishing maze?

Ugh, we tried a saltwater map for fun the other day and it did noooot work out well. We could not get any bites on sinking minnows or shrimp lures in any of the ponds. Didn't help that the NPC team reeled in a Three eyed fish for like 1500 points...Might have just been bad luck (or the fact that I only have 30 fishing skill, doesn't explain my friend not getting bites) but it didn't seem like it was worth it.

yeah, i had a hunch. for every shot at a good two-fish win, all it takes is two bad fish to lose the maze. right now with freshwater, it takes me 7-8 minutes to win solo if i wait until nighttime for better giant catfish bite rates.

You are not. Found that out the hard way when I wanted to buy a signed crystal from the alchemy guild, but found out i would have to give up my fishing guild points to do so. -_-;

Quick question can i pull up Cave Cherax without a Albatross Ring , mine's just ran out and when i get home later i was hopeing to grab a few of these to give to zaldon.

I have 100 fishing skill and a ebisu rod, but my ring is dead or will i need to go get a new ring first.

I'd recommend the tapping method for cave cherax, I find it works a lot better for them than holding. Maybe it's just personal preference.

I'm coming in on my lu's right now. @ 7.5k moat and I'm trying to decide. Should I be fishing for skill ups or just make up for all the lost time fishing moat and farm up nebs to build a capital? Or is there another genius idea?

When I hit about 8k I convinced two friends to fish with me for a few hours every day (it was over some holidays so we had some time off) and pulled in ~600 moat a day.

In the home stretch I'd say fish moat only to get it done. Whatever gil you have, invest it in moat from Sandy (make a Sandy mule to check the AH so you don't miss them). Once Lu's is done you'll make your money back ASAP

seconded. get a couple of friends, with 12-15 stacks of paste each and go to either dragon's aery or the tiny pond in the SE corner of E-9 in rolanberry and grind it out.

how significant of an aid is "moghancement: fishing" in the fishing of rusties in abyssea-la theine? i come blm mostly to ls exp sessions and so im trying to get the blue chest bonus abyssite. is it worth removing temporarily my woodworking moglification? i've fishing for 40ish minutes and have gotten 10 rusties. obviously i'd like to get the 60 i need to max fame asap.

The resident fishing hound in my LS Laftis (People on Odin probably know him) has been making tons of gil from fishing up rusty stuff.

His method:

10 Rusty Buckets (at least, make sure you have the Moghancement)

Lu Shang / Ebisu + (Insert saltwater rig here)

He goes in for 3 stones and comes out with 250k+ in items (I think his number was about ~60)

Anyone who isn't using Abyssea for xp or has a 30+ fishing alt should be in there ASAP before the prices drop.

I've been selling them in bulk to LS mates and others.

You can FFXIAH the prices but iirc

Kunai - 4k (Sell very very quickly)
Spear - 7k (Fairly fast as well
Zaghnal - 8-10k

The Zagnal's are a slower sell but if you find a bulk buyer they are the best bang for your time.
