Crafted my Fisherman's Stall (requires 99 Water whatevers for synergy), and have received Mega Moglification.

"Moogle-powered assistance from your Mog House. Increases your fishing skill, and allows you to more quickly discern when you have a bite."

Well that was unexpected. I thought Mega Moglification would be better overall than the Moglification effect, but instead its only situationally better. Good for fishing up a bunch of easier to catch fish over time, but maybe not so much for landing big baddies if you require the extra help from Moglification.

Unless, of course, the increase in fishing skill given by Mega Moglification is significantly more than Moglification. Then it might make up for the lack of increased stamina depletion, especially when fishing large fish that tend to snap lines frequently.

huh, that would be super annoying if grims now check as good feeling. thank god for composure + sneak.

i finally gave up in SSG, ran out to north qufim to try a couple black sole and the bite rate is lousy but sole can be streaky, so not reading much into that. i wonder if they just took nebs out of SSG and upped the junk rate. wouldn't make any sense, but then again, when have they ever made sense.

Yes it seems large fish are now "good feeling...!!!". Gotta pay extra attention to the difficulty of what bites now. I haven't had one Terrible feeling since the update.

fwiw, not fishing under the bridge, not using any of the new rings (set up is smock/anglersx2/waders/heron/ebisu/shrimp lure). even tried w/o heron or apron. only fishing i've done in the last 72 hours was the MMM, and then only once.
I have yet to get a neb to bite on shrimp lure in about 30 min of fishing at the pond in SSG. Guy across from me is getting a lot of nebs and using sinking minnow - Great Blue says nebs don't even bite to sinking minnow... wtf? Did they dick with bait/lure bite pools?

I had the same problem, shrimp lure won't target them at all anymore. Crayfish paste still works.

Testing in the other thread seems to imply that mega-moglification is +2, but nothing concrete. I'm doing some tests tonight on a +1 = T0, +2 = T1 synth and hoping for some better results. It's not cheap though, so my sample size will be 24 if I'm lucky...

An issue where a player could not catch a “Nebimonite” while having a “Shrimp Lure” equipped has been addressed
From the update notes just now:

awesome... glad to hear it was a coding problem and not some annoying ninja nerf.

edit: down in ssg, everything seems to be back to normal, however, grims continue to be catchable as "good feeling."

Hmmm. I wonder if the change in messages may have been unintentional?

Then again, maybe it only took them five years to fix the messages. It never did make too much since why "Terrible feeling" indicated a fish, and "Good feeling" indicated a monster...

Speaking of, are all large prey (mobs and fish) indicated as "Good feeling" now, or have the messages simply switched (with monsters getting "Terrible feeling" messages)?

I don't think I've gotten a "terrible feeling" anything all day - shrimp lure in SSG, probably close to capping out.

If the terrible feeling message was changed to only fish that can break your rod, it would make sense for an ebisu user to never see that message. I doubt that's the case but it could easily be tested.

Just got my Noddy ring from Pelazoea. Managed to get both rings with pretty good rates like 1/14 for Puffin and 1/30ish on Noddy ring.

Just a quick postscript - did a full load in SSG today, and of 36 grims, 35 were good feeling, one was "don't know." curiously, when doing MMM last night, all of my large fish were terrible or positive (giant catfish and monke-onke). Don't have time to do it tonight, but if I get different messages tomorrow, I'll be sure to post.

Today I decided to take a crack at these new legendary fish. I started out with Hakuryu in Beaucedine. I've found that the bite rate is not to bad at all (using a minnow lure), 10% probably being a pretty good guess. However, they will snap the line of an ebisu maybe 1/3-1/4th of the time. I'm not sure if that means they are capable of breaking a Lu Shang's, but my guess would be they can. However, the most interesting thing I found is that they NPC for 10,285 gil each! That being said I can definitely see these being a very viable choice for ebisu money fishers. I haven't tried fishing any of the other 3 new legendary fish, but my guess is they will NPC for the same price.

I was meaning to ask about the NPC price for those fish. Thanks for sharing! Could you give an estimate for how many you pulled in per hour?

I also wonder if fishermen have been going after those fish in the Abyssea zones since they were introduced, and have kept it as their secret money-maker (assuming they NPC for the same price). I mean, since people aren't AHing them, there wouldn't be the risk of competitive undercutters and whatnot, although there is the risk of depleting a body of water of its fish in a zone (well, for those that believe that theory). So keeping the info on the down-low might make sense.

e: And how tough were they to fish up? Were you using any fishing rings?

Hmmmm can't quite say for sure yet as the first time I went out I was constrained by inventory issues and only fished up a few, and the second time I didn't spend quite an hour out there fishing. However, if I were to give a guess I would say that 7-10 an hour would be a fair number.

In terms of toughness they aren't bad at all, they put up a bit of a fight but really should be no problem. As for rings I was actually just playing around with both of the new rings (Noddy + Puffin), and wasn't having any issues fighting them down. However, it gets frustrating when you have 2-3 line breaks in a row.

If that's an accurate estimate, 70-100k an hour in NPCables certainly ain't bad! Plus, you're catching such a very low number of fish, so you're at no risk of hitting fatigue anytime soon. You could sit there for a couple hours and rake in some serious gil.

Also, I checked JP wiki, and they confirm that Soryu (Abyssea - Misareaux) NPCs for ~10k each. So I'd say that is it extremely likely that they all NPC for the same price.

According to yours and Talila's reports, it seems that they may not have been worth fishing up until this December update, as Kokuryu and Soryu have bad bite rates. Sekiryu and Hakuryu are looking promising by the sounds of it, though!

e: Also, if these fish turn out to be a new money-making staple for fishers, Lik + Gugru prices might skyrocket with increased demand for ebisu fishing rod. Just a hypothesis.

Just wanna say thank you to everyone who is spending time to figure out and sharing the new fishing information. Hakuryu sounds really promising, I'll head over there and give it a try immediately.

Well, hello fellow... fisherpeople, have to be fair to all you girls right?

There does not seem to be any change in bite rate, soryu however seems to be the worse of the scars ones, could be a coincidence of course as i never fished them much, perhaps 10-15 times on each spending 1-2hrs. In general kokuryu gave better bite rate with minnow as bait. On avarage i could guess 5-7% bite rate for soryu and about 10-12% on kokuryu.

Have not gone back to the heroes ones yet but my guess is they aren't much better.

Whether they are worth fishing for or not depends on how many stones you are using for other abyssea activities.

    Love Hakuryu!!!

Spent five hours over there today and got like 26 serpents. Already double of what I made in Talacca, when fishing all the way to 210.
Averaged like 5.2 fish per hour at 50~60% moon. Line break rate was 30%-ish and I never got a "lack of skill" at 97+3 as with Liks / Gugs.
Also got tons of Gigant squid that I can probably never sell without making mules and 0.4 skill ups (.1 .2 .1).

Hmm. Maybe yes! Hakuryu are so much less painful to catch and Liks/Gugs are only 10k on my server as well, so I won't bother with them again, unless a friend wants an Ebisu all of a sudden.
