Love Hakuryu!!!

Spent five hours over there today and got like 26 serpents. Already double of what I made in Talacca, when fishing all the way to 210.
Averaged like 5.2 fish per hour at 50~60% moon. Line break rate was 30%-ish and I never got a "lack of skill" at 97+3 as with Liks / Gugs.
Also got tons of Gigant squid that I can probably never sell without making mules and 0.4 skill ups (.1 .2 .1).

With a good ebisu fish market, I was easily making more than ~50k an hour. However, the fact that I can just NPC Hakuryu, instead of leave a mule on overnight/haggle/compete with other sellers, makes it much more appealing. And you were also fishing during a "meh" moon phase, so 5.2 an hour might be the worst of it.

I hope I just had a bad session then. Was just at them for ~90 minutes and only came away with 1. Part of that's just me being rusty...but I only hooked 8 in that whole time, and 4 were line breaks. The others I just couldn't deplete all the way. Need to play around w/ ring setup, as I had forgotten and Albatross ring. Plus, I completely forgot to switch my MH over from woodworking back to fishing. But I'm not that encouraged. I did come away with 17 squid in that time, but selling those is gonna suck. wish SE would finally expand AH slots. was around 70% waxing moon, btw.

Thanks for this info! I'll give them a shot too with my Ebisu and girlfriends Lu... will report if it breaks the Lu.

From the reports I read, I thought crocodilos were supposed to have only one "!" mark. I just started fishing, and so far it looks like Kunai = "!", and spears, crocodilos, and monsters = "!!!"

e: Not used to this Mega Moglification effect. I can't multitask as well as I used to (like writing this message while fishing) because of how fast I get bites, or reel in without getting bites.

They just changed it with the update Nibu. They used to be ! as well as Pelazoea and Dorado Gar...but now after the updated they are all !!! like they should be.

All 4 legendaries sell for the same price, but I think Hakuryu are the only ones worth it because you don't have to waste stones. Very annoying to get line breaks all the time, I'd rather just go fish Armored Pisces ><

what did yall target pels with? i tried crayfish balls and was getting puffer fish too ;/

Hi im new to BG but have always been a big fisherpeople, i read that barber had problems trying for pels. i also had some problems, i got a stack of every bait avliable from guild and whent out till i found the right one. Crayfish ball was the only bait that worked, but i have to say that i was using puffin ring at the same time so i don't know if this would effect it. also would like to add that Yay for Hakuryu! i am glad that SE finally gave something to people who have ebisu holders. i spent the day on and off fishing these managed to get 100 of these from monring till now.
you can target:
Gigant squid, black sole and of course Hakuryu using sliced cod.
Bluetail, Gigant squid, Cone Calamary Hakuryu with minow.
black sole and Hakuryu with sinking Minow.

if you would just like to target Hakuryu i would recommend you use sinking and cancel black soles. i recommend this since less fish bite on this lure. now i know what you guys are thinking, "where do i get sinking minow not from AH". most of you probably already know but if you get on a ferry you can purchase them from the guild on the ship for 600-2k each. most of the time its 600gilish. i would take a lot if you have the space "Mog Sack" ^^I'm trying to think of something more to add to the vast information you guys have accumulate and do my part but i think that's all i can think off

Awesome! Thank you for testing all of those different baits out! And wow, 100 fish! A smooth 1 million gil in NPCables. It sounds like sinking minnow might be the way to go.

For anyone having shell bug availability issues like me that stumbles across this thread....

3 stacks of shell bugs netted me 29 pelazoea. 3 Stacks of crayfish balls with puffin ring equipped gave me 12 pelazoea. So much less efficient but still an option. 1/39 on ring so can add that in with the other numbers here. 1/1 on crocodilos thankfully enough since those nearly made me get on ps2 to fish them w/o any rings. Any idea what I should sell the left over crocs for? Have like 30.

Also thanks for the explanation concerning the changed "!" and "!!!" on Crocodilos etc. since update. I had been out there cancelling all the "!!!"s having read it would con "!" and wondered "Why no Croco bites..." until i gave up. lol><

You can garden Shell Bugs! I have a whole batch cooking in my mog right now Gonna fish Pelazoea when they are ready and just rinse/repeat.

Annnd also, I'm on my way to selbina to get on the ferry to buy some sinkers! Fishing up 1mil worth of fish in a day is...ah-may-zing! After I get my bastore breams for GP of course!

Well, now is the best time to do it! I'm curious as to how much gil this is going to introduce into the economy (since one is creating gil via NPCs), and whether/when inflation will be noticeable. Since it looks like those who will be significantly profiting from these fish are only those who have Ebisu fishing rod, it probably won't have too bad of an effect anytime soon. On the other hand, from what I recall of the last census (well, the in-depth one from a couple years ago), a little under 1,000 ebisu rods existed, so we're looking at 1,000+ people who have access to this form of money-making.

Again, this is all even assuming hakuryu will be worth going after. We only have a couple peoples' experiences to go off of right now, and while it looks promising, it may be too soon to say for sure.

Well, I have an ebisu and I know one other person that does and I can say with confidence there is no way either of us will be spending any amount of time npcing fish at 70k an hour. I know there is something attractive about npcing stuff, it does make it easy. But the bottom line is that choc digging, ninja tool making, abyssea trigger farming, and about a billion other things give twice as much gil and you can do them while being braindead. The reason is there just isn't enough time anymore. When the expansion hit last week all of a sudden I was looking at needing to finish 21 magian weapon trials. That's on top of 2 sets of +2 armor I need to finish, all the new +2's, and our emp weapon group. It's just impossible to keep up with the pace of the game atm and the first thing people put on the back burner is making gil because its pretty worthless unless you are going after relic/mythic. Heck, nebs are 20k a stack and sold out on my server and tacos are 45k and sold out. Yeah, its not an npcable situation, but its just way more gil. Ninja tools are being sold at 500% markups. Heck breeze geodes are 40k and with the wind in grauberg you can get way more than 2/hr. The most I've gotten is 9/hr.

All that to say I don't think you will see an ounce of inflation come from this because I don't think many people will do it.

To expand on what others have noted, I took ten stacks of Crayfish Balls to La Theine (A) and managed to catch 34 Pelazoea in about 90 minutes. Certainly not stellar (far more Blowfish bites than Pelazoea), but definitely doable given the scarcity of Shell Bugs. Got my ring on the thirteenth trade. Also got a 0.2 skill up on Pelazoea at 96 fishing.

So uh, trying to level fishing on my 2nd character, plan on skipping Lu shang's and going straight to ebisu, since I have so many fish on my mule that refuse to sell but need to hit 78 or 88 or whatever level it what first

Anyway, I already capped on istiridyes, so I want to head back to Tallaca's for Mercanbaligi, Ahtapo, and Dils. But, uh, is there any non-Lu shang's rod that will work there? I figure some rod out there must be doable, maybe skip out on Ahtapots and just do Mercanbaligi/dils, that would be fine too, but idk which rod. I took Lu shang's for granted on my first character
