Today I decided to go for my Noddy Ring. Wiki shows about a 1-2% gut rate on it so I buy several stacks of Shell Bugs and head out.

I burn through several stones. My inventory is getting a bit cramped and I'm out of time so I decided to take what I have and get them gutted. I've got 59 Pelazoeas so I make a macro to trade them to speed it up a bit.

First fish traded has the ring in it. Why can't I be that lucky on Ebisu pieces. 0/10 L 0/25 G

So anyone on Diabolos want to buy 58 Pelazoeas?

The drop rate on noddy and puffin rings are more likely ~5% drop rate, similar to pirate/brigand charts. Wiki only has two people reporting their drop rates, and I suspect one of them had a string of bad luck (which then prompted them to update wiki).

Yeah I'd forgot they weren't ex until shortly after I posted. Traded in the rest of my fish and went a combined total of 2/59 for Noddy Rings.

I definitely agree on the droprate being much above 1%. I traded 33 Pelazoea and got 3 rings out of it.
Granted, a friend went 1/159 on Crocos, but I got 2 rings out of 30ish crocs.
In the end, you can't predict, random shit is random, but it's definitely a better droprate than Ebisu items or Merc. Swords.

So now, a few weeks later... what bait are you guys using for Hakuryu? I just met another fisherman who swore by minnows, where as I've been swearing by Sinking Minnow...

I use sinking minnow over minnow, I havn't in any way tried to test which is better, but I feel I get better results with sinking.

I'd say Sinkings for long time fishing aiming for Haku only, cancelling the soles. Minnow if you don't have much time and take all the bites you can: Squids, Soles, Hakus.
Yet, I have to admit, I also never ran a serious test. However, I started with Minnows until someone in this thread suggested Sinkings and I "feel" Sinkings yield better results.

I spent about 30 Minnow Lures the other day and had so many things biting on the lure other than Hakuryu that I don't recommend it. First of all, Soles don't bite on Minnows. Cone Calamary, Bluetail, and Squids are the other catches for Minnow. That's three times as many "other" bites than Sinking Minnow, which only pulls in Black Soles and Hakuryu. Gigant Squids are potentially more profitable than Black Sole, but only if AHed. Both Squids and Soles are very popular for fisherman, so I simply prefer not to deal with the competition. Black Soles NPC for more than Squids, don't pull in any "other" fish, and more importantly, they stack!

I know he bought it from me to use as a bot, so if it is banned, and I call them up and say I haven't used it since march 2009 or whatever, will they remove the ban?

Do you mean to call SE and tell them your character hasn't been using a bot for the last 2 years, or call SE and tell them you haven't used your character in the last 2 years? I'm not sure I understand.

Either way, I don't believe SE is in the business of removing bans.

Both. I buy materials and make new lures as I need them. Since sinking minnow is HQ, no reason to not use it.

It's both cheaper and easier to buy them from the guild, and even if they were cheaper to make I'm still not sure I'd bother.

It won't work, SE would never reverse a ban just because you say you havn't been on it for the simple fact that you can't prove it and they just usually will not reverse bans(Zouri being a rare case).

If that methond worked then anybody who was banned could simply say wasn't me and get their accounts back, sorry but it just will not happen.

Hopefully your account just isn't banned, if it is, start a new one or buy one.
