I'd have to look through logs to give you an accurate number and I don't really feel like doing that at the moment to be totally honest.
Time to catch? I don't know maybe 15-16 seconds? give or take a few, I get them all down to 0hp with out fail that's not difficult, how much break line compared to actually pull up though is what I'd really have to look through logs for, sometimes ill get 10 in a row sometimes ill lose 10 in a row to line break. Hard to tell.
Is 15-16 seconds using any rings at all? Seems pretty fast for a legendary using no rings.
Just wondering how long of a fight other fishers are getting without any rings for Hakuryu.
Dreading the thought of going through the hassle of getting albatross/penguin rings again especially with all the new abyssea gear to upgrade.
Thanks for the help.
No rings, they're really pretty weak for legendary fish. Like I said though, give or take a few sec it was just an estimate.
Wow, I must fail hard then, unless Ebisu really makes it that much easier to catch legendary fish.
Lu Shang's + Seagull Ring, 90+5+1 fishing skill
I can barely get a Hakuryu down 1/3.
It simply regens too quickly for me to get its stamina down.
You're 10 under cap and not using ebisu, I'm sure that's your problem. I didn't even know Hakuryu were hookable with Lu's, lol.
Oh that's right, I did forgetI remember your awesome post now though.
I've been documenting my fishing results on wiki so far http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Hakuryu and I can provide some facts about Hakuryu. The time allowed to reel in one is 39 seconds with an ebisu. Sinking Minnow "bite" rate is much higher than minnow lure, by 5-7% probably but wont know for sure until more data is recorded. Although the bite rate is higher I have been experiencing a much higher line snap rate between 8-10%.
Lets say you casted 1000 times with minnow lure and 1000 times with sinking minnow lure. Lets say the standard "Bite" rate for minnow lure is 10% and Sinking Minnow is 17%. Also lets say the standard Line Snap rate for Minnow lure is 31% and Sinking Minnow is 39%.
Bites:
* Minnow : 100
* Sinking Minnow : 170
Catches:
* Minnow : 69
* Sinking Minnow : 103.7
My numbers are approximate, they aren't perfect and far from it. In fact the numbers slowly fluctuate up and down during the seasons so it will be some time before the data is even close to being reliable. But at the moment that's where my data is pointing at and my own experience with fishing.
Ooooo very nice information thank you, it's nice to have actual confirmation that sinking is better.
Also I would like some confirmation from fishers. Is it possible to fish up Hakuryu in the ponds instead of the seaside? Also has anyone tried meatballs yet? I dont have the time to experiment with other lures or bait unfortunately. Let us know if you know anything!
I think someone stole my name and put a K in front! ^
Ocean only, only tried minnow / sinking
haha, na I was originally Kalila on caitsith back in 2003, then followed this linkshell to siren where I had to change to Kalilla D:
Also I believe the rings increase the bite rate on Hakuryu by 2-3%. I'll try to find the true % but for now that's what my numbers are indicating.
Don't think I replied in this thread for a long time, currently fishing crocodillos, and its taking forever for zaldon to give me ring, let alone starting on working on other ring, /cry, at this rate, going to go passed amount of gugrusaurus I needed to get saber shoot.
[EDIT]handed in 34 crocodilos now, and still no ring, thats 13 more than gugrusaurus i handed in for saber shoot.
Gotta love random number generators, I'm about 20 titans away from Mercurial Sword taking more fish to get than both of my ebisu items![]()
Went 1/about40-50 on crocodilos, fuck those things btw. wasted about 12 stones. then went 1/2 on freakin pazeoans cocksucker. Oh Zaldon I h8 u. I'm not sure number wise but I feel like i'm catching more hakuryu's now with the rings, using sinking minnow. Just such a pain to get.
Also a bit of numbers
Ebisu rod, with puffin/noddy, using sinking minnow
Cast 450 times
57 Hakuryu bites
38 # of hakuryu cought
184 fish released
I'll do about 500 later with minnow to see what happens
Ok I couldn't take it anymore, used minnow, 210 casts
15 hakuryu bites, 148 other bites
only caught 8.
Not the best sample size but it was quite terrible.
Finally got my Puffin ring just now, went 1/77 on it.
1/77 O.o jesus
