Yeah. I used to post on Lisa Ardnt or w/e and Titanictus when it first came out but I lost interest when they changed the fishing system. Something about a huge obvious bias against me makes me not want to do it.

lol you mean lisa bot? but yeah, i was lvl 70(69.7 i think to be exact) when they changed the fishing system and gave up on it to the point that i sold my lu. it wasn't until i reapproached it with a better idea of skilling(lvl 60+ and a lu in the old system meant you lived in north qufim and sliced cod), that i reapproached it and got to 100.
I remember reading the huge scandal when that was released but even that was when Titanictus was up and when I was already 100 and losing interest, so I never read much about it. The whole "your rl skill + what you play on determines if you're successful" is a load of crap seeing as how that doesnt matter for other crafts. It's like if we made crafting like DDR where you had to hit the right keys if they came up and if you press the wrong one your synth fails. And you die and you're sent to HP.
I'd actually craft if it was like that. xDOriginally Posted by Not Kuno
minions, i want to make romance explosion on you because your suggestions got me to hook up my old ps2 and fish gugrus with it. the difference was literally like night and day. i actually caught 6 gugrus in one ride at one point. and then i switched over to my comp b/c we had aspi camp in an hour and realized i forgot to turn in my fish.
and then this happened.

1/46. i pick up my ebisu sunday morning. /squee <3
Grats![]()
many thanks ^^
i did learn one unfortunate thing in my fishing the last 25 of my gugrus... as has been discussed in many a thread, the boat from whitegate to nashmau doesnt exist because as soon as you load into the boat(ie, leaving the dock) you receive the message that you're arriving in nashmau. now while this is awesome when needing to refill silverpieces, i found out that it exists for ANY boat leaving whitegate. in other words, i boarded in whitegate, stocked with rings and meatballs, and as soon as the boat left dock, i found myself in mhaura. now fortunately, it happens so quickly that i was unable to use charges on my rings, so they did not go to waste, but it drops you at mhaura literally @4:00 or whatever game time, so you're left unable to make it back onto the boat to ride back to whitegate in time, and thus have to wait for the next boat to arrive.
now while i am not one to complain since i'll be picking up my ebisu on sunday morning, i thought it was information worth sharing, that you only get one boat direction when fishing gugrus. i'd leave mhaura, you get your 16 minutes or whatever it is(it's 2 game hours shorter than the regular ferry), then reboard and find myself sitting in mhaura waiting for the next boat. sure, it allowed my rings to recharge(those of us who have used albatross/pelican/penguin rings on the regular ferry know that essentially after the 4th or 5th ride, you're waiting 4 to 5 minutes for said rings to be up, and thusly wasteful(especially penguin rings) to use on that boat ride. so the silver lining for me was that that never was the case.
now it's time to 1) sell my lu and 2) figure out if any of the non /ex baits will catch those npc for 25k a pop fish in the WoTG areas lol. then again, my girlfriend needs hecta hands, so i can always spend some time in kuftal if need be.
Hahaha! Amazing luck. Have fun with that rod, and the gil from your Lu Shangs.![]()
I gave up on Gugrus for the same reason Mart.
In the end I set my HP in Mhaura and would warp back when the boat docked in WG. It's not that practical though... :(
I wish they would just fix the boats already.
What level Woodwork do you guys recommend? I went through 4 stacks of light crystal at 69 and couldn't fix my rod. I'm getting a bit low on funds that's all![]()
The Lu Shang fixing synth caps at 80 so you'll get a good success rate around 72 I guess...you can get skillups on failures starting at 75. So I'd say 75.
it's a level 80 synth where, unless you are attacked by a mob, hit by an AOE, cast upon, or zone, you will not lose the rod(ie, /blockaid on + sneak and stoneskin, and never synth after seeing the 'we're nearing wherever' message.
I started(mind you this was under the old system) fixing my rod when i was level 72 w/ hands and apron. lvl 69, statistically you can fix it, but you're gonna be blowing through way more light crystals than you sound comfortable with(and i don't blame you). im trying to remember what i bridged there, i think it was clothespoles(yar, just checked wiki, repair synth caps at 73). it sucks from a fisherman's point of view trying to yield fish b/c clothespoles snap like twigs, but from the getting woodworking standpoint, that 3-4 levels is awesome because most every large fish on the ferry will snap it. you'll also find yourself picking up several fishing skillups in the process provided you're fishing things that would give you skill anyways. this whole process in the original system was called 'break-fishing' wherein you would take a 5-6 rods you knew would snap like twigs, and as they snapped, the skillups you'd get from fishing as well as woodworking were incredible.
just remember that if you fail a clothespole synth, while it is rare, you can still lose the materials, so i recommend bringing 4-5 rods with you. once you get to about 72, or the cap of 73, if you've got at least your gloves, you'll find yourself still breaking your lu synths, but being 11 lvls away from cap vs. 6 makes a HUGE difference. oh, and remember you can only get a skillup upon a successful synth until you're 5 levels from the cap of the recipe, at which point you can receive skillups even from failed synths. just, and i can't stress this enough, whenever fixing your lu, do a sea horror check(or better yet, just make sure you have sneak up), make sure you have sufficient time remaining in your trip to not lose the rod due to zoning, and always put on /blockaid, which wears when you zone, so you'll need to do it every time you're on the boat. and if you're fishing with someone in a party(my girlfriend's first to 75 was brd, so she was sick of hearing this speech i assure you), make sure they know when you're going to fix the rod and that no, its not funny to cast ballad or refresh or cure1 or whatever on you, unless they want to be the one replacing the rod.
Ah cool, I'll give that a try. I've been camping jeuno AH for petrified logs to synth to lumber but it's taking a while since people put up like 3 at a time.
Its 75 on breaks, I think you can get skill form success from any level you can attempt the synth. Actually I know you can, that is how I lvled alchemy crafting potions for 10+ levels.Originally Posted by vegetaa
Aren't we saying the exact same thing, except you call a "break" what I call a "failure" ?Originally Posted by Minions
And yes I can confirm you can get skillups on a successful synth as long as you can attempt the synth (meaning you're 15 levels or less below the synth cap).
Had a friend fix mine or goto Rab.Originally Posted by pies

Does fatigue reset at JP midnight, or 24 hours from when it kicks in, or something else?
most indicators suggest 24 hours, as i've fished to fatigue from like 5-9am est, and was still fatigued an hour later, which was jp midnight. if i'm wrong, by all means someone correct me, but that's been my experience
