The possibilities are endless, what type of data is most important for tracking?
I've been pretty bored with the game lately and that's usually when I go into program mode....
The basics obviously:
Date/Time - you can use this to get vana day/moon phase/vana time
Area
Fish - would need to build a DB on this if you want to record success of reeling in. This is tricky because I believe area/rod/bait have different ID's. Thinking about this, it might just be rod that changes the ID.
Rod
Bait
Caught/Line Break/Rod Snap - can do this based on chat log or character status.
What am I missing?
Is there a cap on the amount of Hakuryu's that can be caught in one day on a server? For example...does SE say "There are 400 Hakuryu's that can be caught in one RL day...after those 400 are caught no one can catch them."
iirc fish in zones are refreshed every game day, no? Could be different with Hakuryu though I suppose.
Edit: If that is the case though then stay away from my fish Nitsuj >:O
I'd like to go fish the legendary in AbysAltepa, but I'm terrified of the cactuar NM![]()
It just doesn't seem plausible that there's a cap. Has anyone ever caught more than 100 gug's or liks in 1 day?
I don't know that I've caught 100+ in a day...but I've come close! And only because I decided to stop fishing, not because the game decided I was fatigued. I'm sure it could be done though, they are easy and seem more plentiful than Haks
A friend of mine just quit and gave me his Lu Shangs.
Is fishing worth leveling these days? Checking FFXIAH only a couple fish seem to sell fast enough to be worth it, but I figure I could be missing something.
you make money one of three ways fishing - npc'ing fish, selling fish, or using cooking skill to make food from fish and selling.
all three are valid moneymakers, but which one is best for you depends on you and your server.
high level fishermen and fisherwomen with an ebisu rod can make a little over 10k a fish npc'ed, for some pretty remarkable profits.
selling fish is gonna vary server by server. on alexander, i can make some pretty remarkable bank on nebs, selling a stack for anywhere from 17-25k. when doing a taco run, it's not uncommon for me to fish 7-9 stacks of nebs in a sitting, and i've never had them take longer than 2 days to sell off all of them.
finally you can fish and turn those fish into food. consumables are pretty much the lifeblood of the economy in ffxi, since so much of the best gear is rare/ex. prices will generally be just over what it would cost to make a stack of something if you bought all the ingredients, so when you provide the fish yourself (spending time instead of money) your profit is greater. i made most of my money in the taco market before some rmt shithead destroyed it and i went back to hakuryus. selling food you've made is the highest risk, since you're spending additional money to what you're pulling in, and there's nothing stopping severe undercutters. at the same time, for a very long time i couldn't beat my per-hour profit selling or npc'ing fish, which was around 200k an hour. but as i said, on alexander, there be some real shitheads, so for me the loss in profit having to constantly relist and deal with flooded markets and severely dropping prices, i went back to npc'ing fish.
if you're starting from scratch, do moat carp until 10, nebs til the mid-20s (they cap at 27), shall shells until late 40s, and then you can probably start doing SSG or gigant squid to get you leveled up.
Anyone know what the 'allows you to more quicky discern when you have a bite' effect on Mega Moglification: Fishing does? Debating if I should bother with this, or keep my Moglification: Fishing inside my mog house.
But does it stack with the effect that you'd get from Moglification:Fishing, or does it totally replace it, removing the effect of "nq" moglificiation?
To whine: I was going to pick up my Ebisu today, and they shut down the servers. Good times!
Guess my next batch of testing Hakuryus will have to wait until Japan stops shaking D:
Someone just posted this yesterday in the wiki discussion of Mega Moglification: Fishing
So, it sounds like you get both. I've never noticed, since I've been fishing with Moglification for a long time, and haven't bothered to remove it to check otherwise.Originally Posted by Vintaru
