JUST MY PERSONAL IDEA AT THE TIME:
Umm...anywhere between 4-6 hours. I can -usually- fish to fatigue during that time, but lately I've been trying a different strategy and haven't reached my fatigue during those 4-6 hours, but I get bored anyways and leave to do something else.
When I was hitting fatigue I'd catch around 35 fish, the other day before I got bored and left I had caught 50ish
What was this "different strategy?"
I haven't fished Hakuryu yet, so I can't join the discussion with my experiences. Maybe soon. All things considered, is the general consensus that these are "the" way to make money as a fisherman now? (unless someone's lik/gugrusaurus market is booming?)
e: Gigant Squid are 10k on Carbuncle; Nebimonites 35k a stack. Jeez...
I've fished for HOURS today... and I've caught 13 Haku and 6 line snaps... Some days just suck. I really think that if you keep fishing on a daily basis for quite a long time, you'll see quite a bit deviation from the 35 range (like you did when you caught 50-ish)
I'm also curious what your different strategy was? Did you change lures?
JUST MY PERSONAL IDEA AT THE TIME:
Yeah I've actually been using minnows because I'm too lazy to wait to get on the ferry. I'm starting to think that the longer you fish there, the more fish you can pull in...or maybe the more you fish them, the easier it is to pull them in? Because yesterday I caught 63 fish before I ran out of bait, and I never got around to getting more so I hadn't even hit the cap yet!
Going to test again today and see what comes of it, but maybe it's just the more one person fishes them, the easier they become to catch, sort of like I'm becoming more familiar with how to catch them. I'll post later tonight with more findings
Ok, double post soon to be triple post later but...I have a question for you all with the fishing stall. I have the stall in my mog house, but my mog is so decorated with furnishings (just for looks, not elements) that I can't seem to get the mega moglification from the stall. What should I add to my mog to make the stall's moglification the dominant one so I actually get the key item?
EDIT: nvm, I just had to completely revamp my MH and put everything back to keep elements balanced and below the stall's strength -.-
Kind've goes back to the fishing cap, I just recently reactivated my char from 5+ months of it being deactivated so I go out to try fishing some trumpet shells and after about 40-50 every day it's hard capped me out. Zoned multiple times, fished in different zones, casted well over 100 additional times with "You didn't catch anything" waited 5-6 hours and went back and still the same message. Anyone know if there is something implemented when you reactivate or is it just bad luck or something. It's been going like that for about a week now
ok i see that many have the misconception that different fish cap you out before others, this is not true! now they may temporally fatigue or decrees your bite rate but i have fished over 100 hakuryu, takes all day but it can be done. what ever SE has done it is not a hard fatigue because the fishing cap is 200+or- and only then have i ever received the "you didn't catch anything" message and only that message. too many factors to fishing to actually determine why people are have a hard time and even those factors(moon phase, fishing lv, weather, ect) are not proven(ok, moon phase is but yeah). now the only thing i know for sure is that the fishing cap is 200, read this somewhere don't remember were but i have proven it right. if you chose to take my word for it cool, if not its still cool and i hope you solve the riddle of fishing GL!
My only guess is that there's an error in the programming and some glitches are popping up for certain individuals, or we're simply getting erroneous stories without the full picture. It's certainly true that most of us aren't experiencing any sort of unusual hard cap recently.
As for the cap, it's been known with certainty for ages that the cap is 200 with normal rods and 210 with Ebisu. I noted about a glitch that would raise the fish cap one day and then decrease it by the same the next day (or vice versa), but aside from that it's very, very consistent. I don't think anyone has (or even can) fish up 210 Hakuryu, but I can tell you that I've fished ~50 Hakuryu and ~160 of other fish before, so the caps absolutely, unmistakeably, have not changed. Unless this is some new GM tactic to fuck with people, this ~50 cap is either a server glitch or the people reporting it are crazy. I see no other explanation.
Also, and no offense here Talila, but you're starting to sound like urat. At least you test your theories, in any event.
When you start a sentence with that phrase, you are almost always offending someone. Just sayin'
But anyways, I never told anyone they should believe me or even care about my theory, I was just posting it because it was what I was thinking and maybe other people were thinking the same thing. Maybe next time I'll keep my mouth shut and figure it out myself. I still have no idea why I started out with such bad luck, I just know that I really was hitting some sort of hard cap after ~30 fish for a few days in a row. Maybe it was just a glitch, I have no idea. Cheech and I both fish now and can easily catch them all day, he even caught 103 of them yesterday so it doesn't really matter. I can take my ideas elsewhere next time though if I'm going to be compared to a 'tard like Urat for posting what I'm thinking.
Ok so, I was going to come back a while back but didn't. Now I am, so it's been like almost 2 years. I'm playing my gf's toon for the moment, she has a lu and fishing44. Where is the sweet spot now with all this new crap added since toau? Back in the day I would have been npcing dil at this level.
You're still npcing dil at this level. Or istridye in nashmau.
Fishing skill ups for dummies w/Lu:
0-53 Nashmau - Istiridye w/Robber or Rogue rig
53-86 Nashmau - Ahtapot and Merc w/Shrimp Lure
86-96 Talacca Cove - Dil w/Shrimp Lure
96-99 Nashmau - Pterygotus w/Sinking minnow
NPC it all for a ridiculous amount of gil before dinging 99
PS not calling you a dummy lol
ok so it's the same as back in the day sweet. Thanks
Oh shit so I just started reading this thread backwards and you can now make 300-500k from fucking NPC fishing now!? FUCK ME IN THE ASS. FUCK ME IN THE ASS.
I made over a mil in one session of fishing 2 days go, all from npc.
