Ok so what exactly is the system we're using to determine the exact level of a fish via stamina fishing?

I'm currently at 97 fishing and I'm kinda bored, so I would like to help analyze the levels of some fish we don't know yet.

This goes for non-Ebisu:

Fishing skill 13 levels above cap = Auto-depletion
Fishing skill -24 to 12 = Stagnant
Fishing skill -25 and below = Auto-regen
advanced fishing support is +2

Here's some older data we're using to try to figure out hidden skill on ebisu:

Got a no deplete regenning fish on a pirate ride, short time limit, I'm guessing that was a gugru. No +skill.

No depletion on Ryugu Titan with +4 skill.
Kaeli = 80 skill w/ebisu
Aha, the slightest autodepletion on Titanictus at +1 skill but NOT at +0. I'm sure of it, I got it down real low and let it sit and it went to 0.

More, I have auto-depletion on Titanictus/Ryugus with 100 skill + ebisu with 0 gear/support/furniture which means ebisu gave me at least +13 I believe.

Bolded the important part for this discussion.
What we need to figure out next is the exact level of Titanictus. The only way this can be done afaik is with a level 68+ish fisherman making the auto-regen kick in or stagnant based on changing of skill gear.

- If Titanictus is indeed 100 skill as wiki says then 75 fishing skill should be stagnant while 74 fishing skill should auto-regen.
- If Titanictus is indeed 101 skill as Great Blue says then 76 fishing skill should be stagnant while 75 fishing skill should auto-regen.
- If Titanictus is indeed above 101 skill then the numbers need to obviously be adjusted.

I'm not sure how different the rod action will be on titanictus/ryugu at 75ish with I assume Lu but the tester may need to use ring(s). Personally, I know I was able to tell the difference 90+ with Ebisu because of the rod movement., but I'm not sure lower with Lu.

Shaddix is currently checking regen/stagnant on titanictus as he skills up w/lu.

I just came back for some more torture. Figure I'll fish for 110 mins then test my luck. I can test to see if +skill varies on megamoglification once I get ring!

Still working on noddy ring myself but Im in no rush. More focusing on catching up in level and abyssea stuffs

what parser are you guys using to see what you caught/what bites you got etc. I need to do tests on puffin and noddy.


Ok anecdotally..... and eyeballing......fwiw puffin+noddy appear to be a huge improvement. Though it could just be the day/weather whatever. I will just parse by hand this first batch and I should be able to come up with some numbers.

Ok yeah was just luck, pulled up like 5 haks within the first 10 casts is when I made that comment. Sorry for pissin my pants! Though I realized I wasted a ton of time because I can't parse it right unless I fish up the black sole as well. I have no way to distinguish between black sole and items unless i catch the black sole so I gotta restart ; ;

There was some testing going on in the other crafting threads, and although the STALL ALONE gives mega-moglification, there appears to be additional jumps if you have *all* the stuff including the signboard, even though the key item remains the same.

Zouri has proposed (and seemingly proved on her own) that having everything is +5 to your skill, but it hasn't been verified by a 2nd party yet.

Interesting, what about all the other new crafting crap that has been introduced?

I'm seeing what appears to be a handful of generic crafting pieces furniture, boxes and stuff, and then one item for each guild that can be made through synergy

Goldsmithing - Ornament Case

Smithing - Display Blades

Bonecraft - Shell Assortment

Clothcraft - Set of Fine Raiments

Leathercraft - Set of Courier Bags

Woodworking - Set of Chocobo Carvings

Fishing - Set of Stockfish

Alchemy - Flask Set


All of these are close to same levels in crafting, have similiar style of description / etc, appear close to each other in dats, and follow pattern of synergy having a big clump of crafting items every 10 levels or so. Gloves -> Aprons -> Furniture -> Stalls

I'm guessing these furnishings also do something for crafting when put in the house. Maybe they also compound moglification, maybe they just give moghancement: crafting of that guild the same way the big one does for us, but now every guild has one thus allowing people to buy item off AH for moghancement instead of building gp.

I dunno, I'm almost high enough in synergy to make the chocobo and fish set so I'll see what happens when I put them in my house, however if anyone beats me to it and has the available resources I'm very curious to know what these furnishings do as well.

I now have stall + The Big One in my mh, next I'm going to try and make the stockfish (like 5 of them because they're going for 100k on my server for some reason) since, if their water power is what wiki says they should be pretty decent for increasing water potency.

Can someone tell me if you can still catch Nebi's in Sea Serpent Grotto and where the best location is for them?

Yes. You get plenty of them at the pool under the bridge, just don't place yourself directly under the bridge itself. Fish off to one side or the other, or else you won't catch anything.

Shrimp lure = Grimmonites, nebimonites, breams.

And for those fishing crocodilos, be prepared to lose a bunch of them "due to a lack of skill." They might not be the toughest fish to fight, but even at full fishing+ skill, mega moglification, ebisu, etc., I lost about half of mine to "lack of skill."

Edit 2: Yeah, meatballs. The only other bait listed on wiki as hooking crocodilos is minnow, and I'm sure I didn't use those.

78 through 82 all have autoregen on titanictus. Though it is slower than it was before. In particular levels 79+ is very very slow autoregen.

Man, perhaps I'm just having unluck. Caught about 14/25 (lost so many to low skill) so far in 90 mins. Had to break out the PS3 controller and everything as well.

Yeah Crocs are really tough to catch, don't know why but even if you are 100+++ they will still be lost due to lack of skill around half the time.

Why do you care about water potency?

@croc, meatballs ftw. Also know that they will trigger !!! good feeling, you can tell they're crocs though by the way they fight. Nahn is similar but stays to one side or the other for slightly longer. If you happen to pull up Nahn you can just run away and deagro him.
