Why do you care about water potency?

@croc, meatballs ftw. Also know that they will trigger !!! good feeling, you can tell they're crocs though by the way they fight. Nahn is similar but stays to one side or the other for slightly longer. If you happen to pull up Nahn you can just run away and deagro him.

Im a superstitious kind of guy when it comes to things that dont matter.

I always /bow to zaldon when I commence trading, I like to wear my lucky gobbie hat whilst fishing, I follow the directions for crafting.

As a lv 100 carpenter getting T2 water took me all of half an hours work and like 10K gil, and my M needed a bit of revamping anyways.

But we havent even done any testing on the effects of various levels of potency of super moglification anyways. After jp midnight when fatigue wears I intend to test out exactly what this moglification does whilst catching peles.

From the way its worded and from eyeballing my prediction is it lowers wait time between cast->hook. That or it makes the rods hang more to left/right sides.

Grats Sho ^^ The last time I turned in Pelazoea to get one for my man, I brought like 42 fish with me...and I got 5 rings. I still have two in my d-box b/c I just don't know what to do with them! (they don't sell on the AH on Titan either)

Interesting, what about all the other new crafting crap that has been introduced?

I'm seeing what appears to be a handful of generic crafting pieces furniture, boxes and stuff, and then one item for each guild that can be made through synergy

Goldsmithing - Ornament Case

Smithing - Display Blades

Bonecraft - Shell Assortment

Clothcraft - Set of Fine Raiments

Leathercraft - Set of Courier Bags

Woodworking - Set of Chocobo Carvings

Fishing - Set of Stockfish

Alchemy - Flask Set


All of these are close to same levels in crafting, have similiar style of description / etc, appear close to each other in dats, and follow pattern of synergy having a big clump of crafting items every 10 levels or so. Gloves -> Aprons -> Furniture -> Stalls

I'm guessing these furnishings also do something for crafting when put in the house. Maybe they also compound moglification, maybe they just give moghancement: crafting of that guild the same way the big one does for us, but now every guild has one thus allowing people to buy item off AH for moghancement instead of building gp.

I dunno, I'm almost high enough in synergy to make the chocobo and fish set so I'll see what happens when I put them in my house, however if anyone beats me to it and has the available resources I'm very curious to know what these furnishings do as well.

Well I made some stockfish to sell and for shits and giggles put 4 in my MH. I removed everything except the Panetiere and simply had Moghancement: water, with faint water energy. Adding back the fisherman's sign first I got moghancement: fishing, big one back moghancement: fishing, and to no surprise adding the stall back gave me mega. Left one in my MH cause it looks cool and selling 3!

I've decided to skip fishing the black sole along with haks and I'm going to get at least full weeks worth of data with my current setup before making any changes. I really want any testing I do to be absolutely conclusive. So don't expect any puffing ring or stockfish tests from me for at least another 2 weeks.

Though I did pull up 11 haks in the last 30 minutes.... lucky!

I did some basic testing via parsing program on effect of the Mega Moglification.

It seems to slightly lowering the wait time between cast->bite but its so small its hard to tell. I may be testing on to finicky of a target so I need to try and find a fish that has reliable bite rates.

"built" it myself in that I took an older fishbots code and tore out all the stuff I dont need, so all it does is keeps track of what I catch.

I finally got myself Visual Studio and oh my god am I loving this program.

levels 83-87 all have auto-regen on titanictus. very very slow, but it's there.


also, I am actually going to reel in black sole for my puffin test, because I am going to kill myself if I get another 10x no hak bites followed by 2 line breaks in a row. I would be murdering my whole family if i tried to fish up nothing but haks for two weeks.

So a friend of mine was complaining to me the other day about how some of the new legendaries are fatiguing him really really fast, and he couldnt figure out why he could only catch 8-10 of them a day whereas I was catching 40+

We both had pretty much the exact skill levels, however, I happened to know he uses... alternative means to catch his fish quicker.

So I decided today to test it out, and I have to hand it to SE they actually did an anti fishbot move that is actually smart.

This info is based on the last 100 or so crocs I just sat fishing while screwing around with a self made kill-bot to see what happens. I was using the kill bot so I could get exact times on how long I fished for, I have no problem landing crocs so this was purely scientific.

So, it seems SE has secretly implemented a temporary fatigue system on fishing. You have some form of fatigue they keep track of that increments based on how fast you kill the fish. For us normal fishers we never notice it as we kill the fish pretty much exactly as fast as we should be. HOWEVER

As I sped up the kill bot faster and faster up to killing the fish instantly, it became apparent that the faster you kill the fish the dramatically higher you get this temporary fatigue. This fatigue works exactly the same as normal fatigue however it takes only about 5 minutes to wear off, which is also smart as it can indeed happen to a legit player if they're just really good.

After instant killing crocs I managed to go 2-3 before hitting the 5 min fatigue. Killing in 2-3 seconds took about 4-5 crocs, killing in 5-6 seconds took about 10, and anything higher became hard to measure until it hit the time of being normal.

Good job SE, this here is a system that actually works. Especially considering how nowadays the majority of RMTs have ebisu's and lu's and are using legendaries to make money.

The only thing I have to say about that...is that the fatigue is NOT temporary. Once you hit it by using said alternative means, you are capped for the rest of the day until JP midnight. Other than that, everything else is accurate, and it does seem like a pretty decent way to keep fish botters from making their profits faster than normal fishers can.

Though I did find something saying cancelling fish accumulates fatigue, and rusty items don't consume bait. I didn't know the thing about rusty not consuming bait, I also didn't rememebr reading about cancelling fish accumulates fishing fatigue.... Wondering if I should test puffin in talacca now....


edit2: Wonder if this is why whenever I first start on haks I always get a really nice streak of 10 haks and then bite rate goes to crap.


edit3: I think i will test if I get more or less haks if I release black sole.

edit4: I don't think it's worth it to release black sole actually..... I think I will make just as much gil/day and have a higher gil/hr rate fishing up black sole. I mean it will still take 6hrs to hit cap and that would be about 800k from npc. Fishing only hakuryu seems kinda shitty. I mean I don't even fish for 6hrs every day already, so there's no point in limiting my catches to haks only, especially if releasing the black sole increases fatigue. Which I haven't tested thoroughly yet btw.

If your not fishing to fatigue it does not make sense to cancel black soles. If you were fishing to fatigue on Haks everyday it makes sense.

Every fish does indeed have an acceptable reel in time which relate back to how fast you fatigue. I guess the devs determine what is humanly possible and monitor for it. As to why they only fatigue you rather then ban you should be the real question... Whenever I use that "alternative means" of fishing, I wait until I get the message about taking to long to reel it in.
