Does anyone have a link to a good fishing guide that takes into consideration owning a lu shang's? Tried looking around but there weren't any on wiki that seemed decent.

fuckin shit failed again on the damn pirate chart fight. How are you supposed to do this. They kill pet almost immediately after diamond dust and i have no time to run back to selbina.
Honestly I can't do it solo either they always depop otw back to Selbina. I grab a friend, offer them a little reward if M Kris drops and generally people are pleased to help. 3 makes it insta-kill assuming 1 person makes sure to target the walking fish guy so all 3 BP's go off.
Do you mean takes into account *not having* a Lu? Or having a Lu?> If you have a Lu here's something I wrote a couple years ago. If you have a Lu and get to the point where you can fish Hak's I'd probably do that for gil making purposes. If you don't have a Lu then get one. Beg, cheat, steal, borrow, and get one. Things have changed a bit obviously with new high level choices, but fast skill ups in Nashmau remain the same:
Stage 0.5: Nebimonite
Fishing Levels: 0-27
Area: Ship between Mhaura/Selbina or Sea Serpent Grotto
Bait: Halcyon Rod (or Lu of course) & Crayfish Paste
Notes: Skip moats and hit these up for 27 levels. They sell incredibly fast on the AH for about 9k per stack. To save more gil, buy the crayfish paste at the fisherman's guild for dirt cheap. I'm sure they were exaggerating, but people said they made almost enough to buy a Lu from AHing these from 0-27 instead of spending time on Moats and random other fish. I imagine if you would like you can start Istiridye earlier than 27 assuming you have a Lu, a friend began them at level 7 with a Lu.
***ADDITIONAL NOTE: I've heard Nebs dont bite very well until around 15, so it may be best to just do moats from 0-11.
Stage 1: Istiridye
Fishing Levels: 0-53
Area: Nashmau
Bait: Robber Rig
Notes: These are incredibly easy to reel in and stack. If you are a bit patient they will sell on the AH for 7k a stack, or find a high level bonecrafter who synths them into black pearls and sell to them directly for a negotiable price. They also NPC for 300ish gil. I made 70k my first day just NPCing these while racking in a couple fishing skill levels from 30-33ish. I currently dbox them to a high level bone friend for 5k a stack.
Stage 2: Mercanbaligi & Ahtapot
Fishing Levels: 53-90
Area: Nashmau
Bait: Shrimp Lure
Additional Location: Talacca Cove, W exit of Nashmau through Caederva Mire near Einherjar entrance.
Notes: A friend prefers Talacca Cove, the difference is in Talacca you will also fish up Dil's which you will not in Nashmau. NPC rates seem to vary on these from about 600g on Mercs to 700gish on Ahtapots. Mercs are the Eastern equivalent of Bastore Breams and Ahtapots are the Eastern equivalents of Grimmonites. Dil's npc for almost 800g each and are the eastern version of black sole which cap at 96.
[i]This is where a few options seem to open:
Stage 3 Option A: Pterygotus
Area: Nashmau
Fishing Levels 90-99
Bait: Lugworm
Notes: Biterate is acceptable, and these will not break a Lu.
Stage 3 Option B: Dil
Area: Talacca Cave
Fishing Levels: 90-96
Bait: Shrimp Lure
Notes: You will also hit Mercs (single !) which are already capped, and also Ahtapots (!!!) which cap at 90 but the bite rate of hooking dils is similar to Pter's and you will make nice gil off the other 2 fish in the meantime.
Stage 3: Option C: Cave Cherax
Area: Quicksand Caves
Fishing Levels: 86+ or more likely 99-100
Bait: A MEATABALLS
Notes: These will snap a Lu Shangs and/or your line. If you go this route and do not have WW high enough to repair consider buying multiple Lu's.
Stage 4: Option D: Armored Pisces
Area: Oldton Movalpolos
Fishing Levels: 86+ or more likely 99-100
Bait: Sinking Minnow
Notes: These *will not* snap a line or rod if the fish is completely depleted. Bite rate seems to be equal or possibly better than Cave Cherax.
Stage 5: Option D: Lik/Gugs
Area: Lufaise Meadows, Open Sea Route Mhaura/Al Zahbi
Bait: Minnow, Meatballs
Notes: If you are lucky enough to have an Ebisu by the time you cap Ahtapot 90 in Talacca Cove skilling off these is a profitable option. I personally skilled 90-100 off Liks and made quite a fortune bazaaring some for 15k and unloading others to lsmates for 10k each and helping them obtain an ebisu. This really wouldn't be a great idea if you had a Lu, but if you were lucky enough to have an Ebisu at this point, the skill ups were quite decent.

TLDR Fishing for Dummies Version:
All done in Nashmau:
0-53 Robber Rig, Istiridye (If no Lu, Halcyon to 27 on Nebs)
53-86 Shrimp Lure, Mercanbaligi & Ahtapot
86-99 Lugworm or Sinking Minnow, Pterygotus
99-100 QSC, Meatballs/Cave Cherax OR Oldton Movalpolos, Sinking Minnow/Armored Pisces, OR Lik/Gugs Minnow/Meatballs
3rd try got it. For some reason avatar still wouldn't stay and melee even as I was running away, but somehow HF didn't insta-kill them and I was able to kite them til it wore and pets were able to melee the sahagin down. Maybe I need to assault after using diamond dust.
Skillups slowed down on lu account since pelican ring ran out(and been a little busy). Should have the testing for 88-92 tomorrow though. 87 now.
Not to toot my own horn >.> but I made this guide while I was leveling fishing based on the places I found that have the fastest skill ups...hence the name. Keep in mind around level 80/90 that you could probably start fishing Haks instead of the other stuff, I just haven't edited it in a while to add them. I went from 30 - 100 fishing in like...a month fishing in those places
In addition to the guides, my only real piece of advice is do not rush to 100. If you can reel in high gil fish for slower skill ups in your final 80->100 push or whatever range DO IT. I can't speak for anyone else, but nothing killed my motivation to fish more than the inability to ever look forward to a skill up again. Not being able to skill on a line break really is a mental blow lol. If I had to do it all again *now* I'd make sick gil off Haks with slower skill ups vs. faster skill ups and less gil in Nashmau. 100 fishing vs 85 fishing matters very little other than a sense of accomplishment when it comes to making gil.
Do Haks break Lu Shang's. Tempted to give them a try but WW is currently not high enough to fix Lu yet. Thanks.
yeah
Do you need serpent rumors to hook them?
Hmmmmmmmm....good question. Not sure anyone has tested that. I know Finbar tested whether or not they break a lu (they do) but idk if he has serpent rumors
I have a friend who has lu's and no serp rumor yet, I'll ask him to try once tornado's are done fucking up where he lives.
Im 90% sure I was catching haks with my lus before I had serpent rumours, as I was using them to break the rod and level up woodworking... but I honestly don't remember when I got serpent rumours in my leveling so I can't say for sure =/
If so that is going to be new skillup location for my Lu account
I still found nashmau -> tallaca cove to be best skillups to 97. Im now apparently permanently stuck at 97 according to SE since I'v seen all of .3 of a skillup since I've gotten my ebisu, no joke.
Has anyone else gotten the ebisu before hitting level 100? Im starting to think the ebisu seriously gimps skillups, as I've caught several thousand level 100 fish since I've had ebisu and I've gotten I think one level up, not even. I know fishing is slow but goddamn.. not that I care about 3 levels but still, you'd think they'd be a bit faster than this...?
A month or two back I spent the better part of a day trying to hook Hakuryu and was unable to do so. Once I got serpent rumors I was able to hook them at a decent rate.
