Well, I don't know if it's necessary to do it after *every* update. SE is pretty diligent about mentioning in the update notes that "Additional fish have been added to the 'Inside the Belly' quest." Have they ever added any in without mentioning it?

I only mentioned trying Matsya this update as a half-joke. I'm not really expecting anything to happen.

Grabbed a shrimp lure and ported to qufim. Fished up a couple of soles. Feels exactly the same. 100 with Ebisu. Had no gear on. Weren't they adding some sort of changes to the fishing system? They were 'good' feelings so that is still there.

They mentioned it was an issue as something they would be working on. Same thing with the botting problem. It didn't mention specifically that they were implementing something this update; just that they were aware of it, and would be working on it.

Thanks for testing it, though.

Edit: Zaldon does not accept Matsya. Color me shocked.

Something clamps onto your line ferociously! I will give my impressions if there is any stamina difference on hakuryu after I am done with gp fish.

Keen angler's senses apparently do not require your skill to be higher than the fish you're pulling in.

I checked through all the synergy enthusiast recipes. No sign of the new fisher/chocobo/misc. hobby items. I'm stumped. Not sure where else to check. Guess I'll go check Irmilant...(edit: No dice)

Of course, I could be going on a wild goose chase, and they simply may not be implemented yet.

Ooooooh....Perhaps MMM! Not sure if I'm going to test that out, though. Still, a good place to check!

haks are still completely uncatchable for me without slowing PC down.

I got this message when I hooked a hakuryu "This strength... You get the sense that you are on the verge of an epic catch!"

The fish id's before are the same, but >.>

If you fish something and get this message:

Your keen angler's senses tell you that this is a pull of a (name)!

It is a whole new id.

I just found this out with bladefish:
Ebisu Fishing Rod

Bladefish : 7-240-21-10
Bladefish with angler's senses : 7-240-21-7

This might be what they did to bots? Not sure but it isn't very sneaky telling us the fish's name LOL

Also, the angler's senses are of course not 100%, maybe 25% default.

It depends on the level of the fish it seems. I am getting critical bite ~8% of the time on grimmonite and about 33% of the time on nebs on my lu character. She is level 89 fishing, so shouldn't be getting critical bite on grimms if SE is to be believed that it only works on fish lower level than your skill.
Or maybe the grims I was getting critical bites on were actually level 88!!!!

edit: Oh i'm an idiot, I'm wearing +fishing skill gear. so 3 over cap gives some critical bites at least

edit2: fishing messages apparently are more accurate now, or at least aren't worthless. I am no longer getting fairly sure, don't know if, messages fishing in SSG. Everything is good feeling or critical bite. Which should be expected since none of this is difficult or will break my line/rod.

What I want to know is if this "This strength... You get the sense" message is a critical bite as well. Maybe it only appears on legendaries. I will try with my lu account on hakuryu after I get serpent rumors to see if she ever gets that message.

Found a Tarutaru Sash (level 70) in a brown chest in Inner Horototo Ruins, so at least we know that the equipment that drops here can be high-level.

Also having more luck finding chests off of the higher level mobs (the new ones they added into zones).

I seem to have 100% critical bite rate on cobalt jellyfish so far after 9 fish while fishing for gugs.

Still need CPU Grabber on PC or play on PS2/PS3/Xbox360 w/ controller for easy "legal" fish catches. Hakus still sell for 10,280~10,440. No critical bites after 30 Haku's but plenty on the Black Sole in the same area.

The ID4 value is related to something, stamina/regen/depletion rate/etc. We haven't figured out what it is yet, but Yekyaa, Invader and myself have started to study these values in the windower IRC room to figure out what they mean. They're definitely not 4 unique identifiers as previously thought.

That message is the "critical bite" message, so it would appear that this value changes and the fish is probably easier to catch as well. Makes sense since its a "critical bite" you could definitely get a boost to the ability to reel it in.

Or I could be completely wrong, but we're working on it :/

Edit (from patch notes):

Scoring a critical bite will also slow the target's stamina recovery in the event of improper reeling, allowing players to reel in lower-level fish with greater ease.

So that may settle it. ID4 is likely stamina depletion rate.
