Yeah, ID4 has changed for quite some time, probably forever, which is why we've been looking into it. I want to make a fishing status plugin for Windower 3.5 to give *all* fisherman a way to parse their statistics so we need to have a better understanding of how those ID's work.
I think, fishbots since forever just sort of assumed that all 4 of those ID's made up an unique identifier to ID the fish on your line. And since fish bots usually just store a local database of ID->String, as long as nothing changes from the fisher these ID's will remain "unique".
However, if you change your moglification/moghancement/other factors you'll see ID4 change. This would explain why people have complained about the popular "FinalFisher" reporting fish incorrectly all of a sudden, because people using the bot started getting moglification and such more commonly and this was one of the only known bots to use a networked DB of all users. So once someone with a different ID4 caught a fish, it would mess up all the other users.
There's still a lot to figure out about fishing that people have had the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" mentality for a while. It won't make anyone's fishbots catch more Hakuryu but it'll provide some cool information and statistics, which is why many of us are on BG in the first place![]()
Yea, I've always been more interested in the mechanics of fishing than the fishing process itself (although I love fishing lol).
(BTW, I'm using Fish Fighter - 5.0.0.5 to find the ID's, I notice different bots organize the numbers differently and I'm not sure why so this might make a huge difference)

Nitsuj I'll do what I can do to help regarding Windower Plugins. Drop me a PM if you need anything beta tested or whatever.
I have noticed the game treats cobalt jellyfish as items. Or at least the messages indicate it's an item.

Also was doing some testing before about the different rods:
Sorted By Fishing Rod
Spoiler: show
Sorted By Fish
Spoiler: show
Seems to be consistent, the lower ID4 is better faster stamina depletion (or lower stamina regen, I should probably figure out which one).
The update notes said specifically that the hp regen from pushing rod the wrong way would be lower on a critical bite.
Updated it again Nitsuj, I was testing the ID's accross multiple rods. Hope it can give you some info
Have you been able to see if fish with the "this strength..." message have a different ID?
Something caught the hook!!!
You're fairly sure you don't have enough skill to reel this one in.
Kalilla caught a hakuryu! Both were surprisingly the same ID o.o;Something caught the hook!!!
This strength... You get the sense that you are on the verge of an epic catch!
Kalilla caught a hakuryu!
Hakuryu : 4-260-37-24
So... the message doesn't give any special benefits to reeling in fish as far as I'm aware (since it has the same ID). I'll take a look at the time left on the line and see if there is any additional time.
Edit : Nope, same time on the line too. So weird... Could possibly be lower snap rates.... but I couldn't possibly prove that with so few samples per hour and even fewer of the "This strength..." message ones ><
Edit2 : We could take it literally... Maybe the "This strength..." messages are heavier versions of the fish (or closer to the upper cap). I'll keep an eye out on them.
Notice the music changed for items, they are the !!! music now (monsters as well)
This strength... You get the sense that you are on the verge of an epic catch!

Also since when can I pull up liks without albatross ring?
I wasted like 3 charges before I accidentally fished one up without enchantment on.
