I would've ding into ebisu on my mule except I lacked the gp for the key item. I still do. It's so easy to lvl faster than you can get enough gp especially when it's repeatidly stupid stuff at lower lvls.

Also for fish ranking I often see people with ones really good for that months ranking selling them for a good 100-200k easy

Ya it's seriously worth it, especially if you're not to 53ish yet and you can go from making 70k a day to NPC to 120k quicker. People always scoffed at a guaranteed winner for 200k until they actually had the ring once, then they realized how amazing they are.

Oh yeah it was. That's actually how I got one of the rings for my alt. Because despite fishing up over 2k jungle catfish over the course of a week I didn't get a single one that would've won the contest lol

I know it was mentioned a while ago that some testing was needed to determine if Haks were hookable without Serpent Rumors, but I didn't see if anyone tried it out, so I went ahead and did so myself today. After 100 casts with 100+7 fishing skill, noddy ring, puffin ring, sinking minnow, and Lu Shang, black soles were the only fish to bite.

I was actually hoping to not be eligible for this test since I've had my ebisu items for a month and a half, but I got started on fishing gps late since I was still working on my goldsmithing gps.

And while I'm at it, I might as well join in on posting "Inside the Belly" stats:
1/1 Crocodilos (from a croc I bought from the AH... O_o)
1/5 Gugrusaurus
1/53 Lik
and the worst one...
0/150+ on Pelazoea until yesterday when I went 3/50

Just need 23k GPs to get ebisu!

My luck has been limited to this quest, trust me. For example, novio earring was my "gotta have it" item for years. When it was finally my turn in the priority list, it took 13 months of sea farming every Thursday for it to finally drop. It was agony!

Lik/gugru could net ya 800k+ a day with a good buyer.

I can still make 300k/day on trumpets if I spend like 6-8 hours there. :o

I should probably start catching the breams also.. it's not like I ever reach fishing cap on trumpets anyway.

Has anyone noticed increase in break rate fishing hak fishing? Last several days I've been breaking about half of the ones I pull up instead of my normal 3:2ish ratio

Yes. I'm seeing the same results dasva. Often the ratio is breaks > catches and catches eventually catch up if I fish long enough.

I'm trying for fisher's torque, and currently have +3 casket prowess. I also capped merits/exp from GoV.

Should I do more pages trying for higher prowess (and not getting any xp), or should I just try to get caskets from all the lower-level mobs in the main chamber? I'm doing the latter at the moment, but not sure if investing in greater prowess would be worthwhile.

Well...from personal experience I would try to get those last two levels of prowess. I don't really know how much more chests you'll get from lv.3 to lv.5, but I know I got a shitload of chests when I was at level 5 versus level 1. Buuut then again, I got the first torque at level 4...so it's really only up to how much faster -you- want chests to drop. And even at level 5, they are mostly just shitty blue chests anyways. I spent almost an entire week there and had capped merits after 1 day ><

But hey, from all the people that I saw farming the same thing (at least 3 other JP), everyone got a torque in no longer than a week so...hang in there!

It doesn't look like I'll be doing much with it today, though. For whatever reason, my router decided to stop working properly. I lose my connection every few minutes, get it back for a few minutes, etc. Going to either get myself killed by DCing when I train the whole room, or get myself flagged for pos hacking because of all the lag

my first 2 tries at torque i spent hours building up prowess with no luck on drop.. i eventually got the torque on a quick 30 minute visit between events, no prowess, no pages, just killed a few mobs and got it. have also spent hours trying for rope with no luck.

True to fashion: I log on, AoE the room, open a chest, fisher's torque. This was still with the level 3 casket.

Now to work on the rope.
