I am 41 fishing at the moment, and soon to have my lu shang's rod. When I get it, I was wondering if I should go for shall shells? I tried fishing them in dunes a while back and remember catching absolutely nothing with crayfish paste and halcyon. Alot of fishing friends say to just fish on the ferry but I hate the wait in between rides... So shall shells yes/no? or could someone suggest anything else for lvl 41?

edit.... was reading through this thread and I guess robber/rogue rig is better for shall shell.. So I guess that's why I wasn't catching anything before... And I answered my own question <.<

You can also go to Qufim, use Minnow lure, and you'll catch Cone Calamary, Bluetail and Gigant Squid. Cone is the lowest cap (in the 30s I think), but Bluetail has a cap in the 50s (be warned they put up a good fight) and Gigant Squid caps in the 80s. Despite the high cap, Gigant Squid are actually quite easy to real in. All three of those fish sell very well and fast as well.

My cooking is at 96. I leveled it with fishing too. I actually starting fishing first, but cooking skills up alot quicker than fishing and I didn't need a lu shang to cook so.. hehe, but I'm trying to get back to fishing as that was my plan to begin with, and it's relaxing to just sit back and fish/watch a movie or whatever.

I used to do this, but the sushi market just blows on my server. Right now, I'm a bigger fan of just trying to sell the fish in bulk.

I'll likely be deleveling cooking in the near future and raise woodworking so I can fix my own rod as I will likely be wanting to go for Ebisu and will be seeing quite a bit of rod snaps on my way there.

Buburimu is actually a nice place to hang out and fish shells, long as you're high enough to ignore the bounty hunter gobbies.

If rigs hook monsters then Nashmau is the best, otherwise it's a bit out of the way. My rmts got banned this week so the bite rate is nice ^^ 38.8 > 39.7 in 4 stacks so far tonight.

Ok.. so I just got my Lu shang rod. I am at buburimu at K-8 cliffs with a rogue rig and have yet to catch a single thing.. Am I doing something wrong?

yeah.. robber rig doesn't work either. I tried the south beach of buburimu (where you farm for carbuncles ruby) and also all along the cliffs on the east of the zone. Gona just go on the ferry I guess.

SE ninja updated Shall Shells out of Bubu an update or 2 ago, if you go back 2 pages there is a small mention of it. There are still shells in Valkurm and aht urghan version is in Nashmau, but I've never tried either of those spots.

Ah okay, I guess I missed that, thanks. I haven't tried dunes or nashmau yet... Might give it a go this weekend.
I decided to just go to qufim with a minnow, and skillup is nice there plus the squid and bluetails sell fast, and I can make ink out of the cone calamary

That can't be right. I was chocobo digging in Buburimu a couple of days ago on one of the beaches. There was someone fishing there and he was catching shall shells. Didn't examine him so I don't know what he was using.

That's not cool at all. I was going there on and off a couple days then said screw it and skilled off of bluetail, cone calamary, and noble lady on the boat.

How many gugrusaurus does everyone get per round trip? I average 2-3, and i'm not sure if this is on par with others?

A little late, but just to clarify: SE nerfed shall shell fishing from the cliffs (where there are no GBH's). You can still catch them on the beach.

I've also struggled to catch any Marlins in the last few weeks; bite rate is lower than I ever remember and reeling them in is a bit more difficult. Probably just pacebo, but it's to the point that SE should really just take fishing out of the game if they can't figure out how to target the RMT without fuking over the legitimate fisherman.

So for a brief summary :

One hand, the part concerning the “Selbina contest” joins together fishmen in a network for circling the information which concerns the contest (which fish, which day, which rule?).

The other hand, the part “Exceptional fishes” is a continuation of the table of result which the NPC Chenon presents at the end of every contest. We will get a rank much completer and much more exciting than the one available “In game” by conserving the data of a maximum fishes.
