Yeah, people use killfish on the Mhaura to Al Zahbi ferry. It allows them to not use Albatross which enables them to use Noddy/Puffin. It's pretty obvious when someone is using killfish, but it seems SE is only concerned with banning legit players nowadays.

The guys in the quest like typical fisherman seem to just give out random numbers. I beleive it is a huge game of one upsmanship with the guy next to him which is why the girl in the back is the one keeping the correct count lol

Actually the seemingly random numbers the brothers give are really the total amount of fish EVERYONE on the server has traded them since the last server reset.

Their sister behind them just keeps your personal tally.

Just task force anyone you see pulling gugs in without a albatross ring. Theres a ton doing it on quetz.

You can catch the harder ones without cheats like killfish or extend fight. It's just hard at least on comp and even then you wont get most of them in. Also extend fight time is something some bots can do and that looks less suspicious then just randomly killing fish lol.

And yeah cruor burn is alot of effort. But with mules its pimp monies

442613, think I used lugworms or little worms. You can fish him at any spot, so you might want to check if some JPs are fishing him while you are trying

I mostly see him being fished at #4 near Cara, I've hooked him many times fishing crocs with meatballs

Assuming Armored Pisces is correctly designated at Lv.103, the Epic Catch message occurs 9 level below fish cap.

This would put Hakuryu at Lv.155.

I just noticed the "Your keen angler's senses tell you that this is the pull of a Gugrusaurus." while on the Selbina>Mhaura ferry. Based on your theory what would that estimate Gugs at? I'll be curious to see if it matches up against the previous regen/idle/deplete ranges.

I was testing Epic Catch, not Keen Angler. I did notice I started getting it on something whereas I previously did not...but I honestly can't recall. I think I didn't take note of it because that message seemed to occur randomly at the time. If I had to guess, I got the message on Armored Pisces somewhere between 83 and 93 skill, or -20~-10. The reason I may have dismissed it is because I knew if that statement was true, then I should see the Keen Angler message on Haks, and I do not.

Edit: Just saw Selb/Mhaura ferry. Well those are easier to reel in, could be they are a lower level than the ones on the Open Sea Route.

Unrelatedish: I personally think Gugs/Liks are higher Skill cap than Haks only because the skill up rate on them is much better. While I did have a lot of time to test that and while there was a noticeable difference, fishing is fishing so it could be nothing.

At 152 skill, I have never seen a Keen Angler message on Gugs and my other char is 0/557 now, can assume I only caught 2/3 at best so at least ~830 bites.

To comment on this, it depends heavily on how much you can buy each bait for. Sinking minnows will hook more hakuryus, but they will also break more often and cost a lot more. From my 5 day straight parse of 2 fishers with 100 base skill, +6 in items, stall+big one. Sinking minnows net you about 1 more hakuryu an hour and lose you 1 more bait. So its like, per hour, 10 fish NQ vs 11 S, 5 lost bait NQ vs 6 lost bait S.

for 1 hour of fishing:
104,900gil NQ
-5 bait

115,390gil S
-6 bait

300 gil minnows = 1500 gil, so for an hour of NQ minnows you make 103,400 gil.
1k sinking minnows = 6000 gil, so for an hour of S minnows you make 109,390 gil.
1.5k sinking minnows = 9000 gil, so for an hour of S minnows you make 106,390 gil.
1.8k sinking minnows = 10800 gil, so for an hour of this price, you make 104,590 gil.

What it basically comes out to based solely on my 5 straight days of parsing NQ vs S and nothing else, you need to buy sinking minnows within 1200 gil of NQ minnows for them be slightly better/even, and if they're more then that, you shouldn't even bother. Also, if your skill is below this, then sinking minnows hold absolutely no benefit for you, they just cost more and break more often and don't get you more fish, and you shouldn't even bother with them.

I use 1200 not 1500 because sinking didn't really net me 11 hakuryus an hour compared to NQs 10, it was like like 10.8.

Another thing I think people should remember for those overcrowded servers, is that if you're using your ebisu's to look for bait, and you pass up slightly more expensive bait to try and find cheap bait, you're only hurting yourself. Every 30 minutes you spend out hunting minnows is 50k you're losing by not fishing. So buying those 1500 minnows and just going back to fishing is going to end up better for you then spending an hour or more trying to ride different boats and find cheap bait.

Sardine balls are also a good alternative, provided you either have a random mule you can fish them with for a few hours a day, or you don't fish all day to cap and can catch sardines yourself.

Now that SE said key item to break level cap will be more like 20k GP I don't care as much anymore about a couple shitty days. When I thought we needed 100k I was stressing over shit like bastore sardines and yellow globes for 2k points.
