since bladefish took over abaia for lucky broth, are they a viable skillup fish? I just hit 50 so a 71 cap fish selling for 15k/ea (more if i craft myself) is mighty tempting.
Personally I would just do Tala cove/Nashmau, considering you can net 130-150k just a day from capping on fish caught and npcing them.
With the influx of how lucky broth can be, you might be sitting on some for a while. Maybe fish some every couple days and see how it goes from there.
edit: nvm i'm fucking retarded.

thank you lord. that was the one i DIDN'T want to deal with fishing.
Caught my 5 Jungle Catfish in 5 casts.
Fishing, the only "craft" where you can repeatedly make 1.5m+ gil in skill up attempts in a single day, while actually getting 0 skill ups.
skimmed the thread again looking for an answer and didn't see one. My mule is out at nashmau with a halycon + robber rig, fishing for isindryte. She fatigued out at 164 fish, which i thought was odd. Was there ever a concensus about why this happens? same thing happened with my brother. I never had this issue with my main, but he has a lu shang's, so... is that the reason? I really don't remember what people decided was happening.
Anyone else been getting hit with GM checks alot recently? Even got one from one of those completely invisible untargetable ones just now?
i dont know what that is, so i'd say no
Nothing for me... Could be some guy with a grudge on your server.
Perhaps. They always say they doing whole zone checks... but I'm usually the only person up here lol
I am a jerk and I don't like to share. However, against my better judgment, I'm going to share the fishing data I've kept myself. However, I'm kinda sad if my suspicions are correct.... Fortunately, it's only been one night of data but it is not looking good.
100 Fishing, Before I used noddy/puffin, All GP items except the 200k one, Using Minnows:
72/107
71/95
78/131
93/143
80/115
100 Fishing, WITH noddy/puffin, all GP items except 200k one, minnows
79/111
81/127
97/140
Average Catch Rate 100 skill without 2 rings: 67.23%
Average Catch rate 100 skill with 2 rings: 68.08%
(makes sense because rings should not effect line snaps, only skill should)
I was trying to determine the potency of each ring months ago. If anyone cares, my data had about 8% less monsters hooked, so I concluded that noddy ring likely is 8-10% less monsters hooked. Data on puffin was a 2.78% increase in big monsters hooked (since I was using minnows I had to count haks and gigant squid), but I felt my data on this could well fall in margins for error, so I said screw it and deemed it inconclusive.
Just ran one test last night after hitting 110 (I've been using my pelican ring), and here's what's different:
110 Fishing, WITH noddy/Puffin, acquired Fisher's Torque, All GP items except 200k one still, Sinking Minnows
97/141
Average Catch Rate 110 skill with torque: 68.79%
Conclusions: I've added 12 skill. My catch rate on haks looks to be the exact same. God I hope the next few data sets improves that.
P.S.
If you are pulling up haks, gugru, or liks quickly, you are doing it wrong!
If you are fishing/catching haks with your Lu Shangs, you are doing it wrong!
If you catch liks or gugrus and do not have an albatross ring equipped, you are doing it wrong!
When did fishing get this bad?
You can use 10 lures to catch 60 fish, or 40 lures to catch 10. Definitely needs more than one night of data.
Again, I think a better test altogether would be bite rate @110+7~12+Rings, minnow and sinking minnow.
Right now, I'd estimate bite rate with minnow to average ~8~10%, and sinking minnow ~15-20% (@100+6ish)
I doubt anyone is really surprised that 10ish fishing skill is pretty irrelevant. Considering most folks with a Lu start fishing level 50+ fish from level1
