Well once I got it I didn't want to see another ferry ride for a looooong time. (1/225 on Gugs) So I haven't had much legendary experience with the Ebisu. Might be right though.

with that said, I don't have an Ebisu, so I can't comment on its impact on fishing. Sorry!

What?! I was under the impression that you couldn't even get Liks or Gugs on the line unless you had Serpent Rumours key item. So either that info is completely wrong... or wtf? Were you in a party with a fisherman who had a full inventory? Does that even work?

Or did you just buy from the AH? I gotta say that I wouldn't risk buying from AH in case you can't get the "drop" from the fish unless you at least activated the quest. If you did just buy them then at least we know you can do this now.

I purchased them. I read somewhere that someone with 40fishing had gotten both items, so I knew that you could at least receive the items, just can't activate the quest to turn them in until rumors at 78 fishing.

I thought it was determined that the enhancement either eliminated or greatly reduced fatigue?

Sadly not true on the eliminate part. But i've noticed it is a much higher limit. Think the best I did in a day was 170ish, but that was many many many hours.

You only need Serpent Rumors to start the quest. You can fish up the fish any time if you have the rings and enough RL skill, and can get the items from zaldon without having the quest active.

You need rumors to be able to hook the fish and pull them in, aswell as allow you to start the quest.

Last two days have been crap GP, 1200ish max. But Im now 93.5 fishing, cave cheranx have been good to me, averaging about 1.5 levels a day. Hoping to hit 100 by the middle of next week.

Does skill up rate drop at all in the mid to upper 90's?

I'm quoting wiki on the fact that you cant catch the fish without key item.

And cave cheranx npc's for 1.6k on average. But expect probably 60% line snaps.

I decided to do ryugu titans because they have a better chance at snapping my rod, which I need, and I can gut them for merc sword.

I'm gonna try Cave Cherax for a couple hours today, and see how it goes.
Note to self: bring some light xtals...

Just be aware, they can be EXTREMELY streaky, and weather effects them a lot.

One good thing is I fished in Quicksand Caves, theres no monsters there, and no other fish will bite meatballs, just the occasional subligar.


Edit: Got my rumors this morning, placed third in fish ranking contest and got silver hook title! Working on opal silk now, caught 4 liks in about an hour, 3 line snaps, 1 time out, albatross ring only.

Excuse me butting in here... with my level 15 fishing but I need some practical advice. I'm trying to level my smithing sub and actively want rusty picks and caps. I'm not sure where I'm most likely to have the best luck. I tried Korroloka and Jugner but didn't do well. Suggestions?

It's been a long long time, but rogue rig + strong rod + some place you can pull up caps.

I seem to remember getting enough rusty caps to be annoyed at them when I was doing shall shells in bub. pen.

I don't remember finding a place where I got annoyed at the number of rusty picks. But I think those were AHing for noticably more than rusty caps, so my reaction was probably, "Score!" when I fished one up.

Rabao used to be the bees knees when fishing caps was at its height of success, not sure if its still good, though. Rogue Rig was the desired lure.

Not so sure about picks, though. As you mentioned, korrokola tunnel, never fished it personally, but i saw a few rmt's catching them there about a year back, I think.

For those of you still questing for a Lu, I tried out Slug Pond in [S]Rolanberry for Moat Carp since it's supposed to be a great place according to:

After 2 Hours or so Just under 10 Stacks of Carp, 3 line breaks and 3 Items. There were a few "!!!" which were likely mobs but were cancelled.

Not fished for Carp at the un-named pond in Rolanberry for a while but this seems like I pull up less items at this pond.

Only downside is that there are a stack of EP to 75 Slugs and Gobs around the pond, most patrol around and have a habit of sneaking through the bushes so lower levels may get aggro.

I'll double check my Windower logs to see if I can find what the total Carp/hour is and exactly how many "!!!" I got.

Checked my Windower logs after hitting fatigue cap

22.2 Fishing Skill +4 from Fishng Gear
Halcyon Rod + Insect Paste

Took 4 Hours to hit the fatigue cap but results were:
200 Moat Carp
9 Line Breaks
8 Rusty Items, only 2 fished up, rest cancelled.
27 "!!!" messages which I cancelled out of.

If anyone has a Titanicus account you may want to cross-post this info to the thread linked in my previous post since they're testing the place and registration is closed atm.

EDIT: Should be noted I was there about an hour to an hour and a half before I hit my first non-carp catch, though that may have just been luck.

To be brutally honest with you. RMT has basically cockblocked you for any hope at a fast way or good place to get those 2 particular things. They killed Rabao for caps, then korroka(w/e) tunnel for picks. You could do what Val suggests and try the grotto, but, that's where the RMT bots went after tunnel got nerfed, there was a patch a couple years back then they dissappeared from there, so gl to you.

(RMT has ruined all that was awesome about fishing, sadly)
