It makes sense though. Fucking crazy ass fish that you need to be capped in fishing just about to get. Lol

Odds are its a 1 to 5% gut rate too

Let's see. I'm push the price of the fish at 350k each. And the cape at 20mil if I gut one. If the 1-5% rate like on anything else worth gutting stands.

Thought the cape was rare/ex? or you gonna set a price fish till you get cape?

I believe SE may have broke Haks in Beaucedine. I just went 6 bites in 1.25 hours with 4 catches.

Anyone else coming to this conclusion besides me?

Would not be surprised that fish adds so much gil from npcing and se always use to see that as a bad thing.

I noticed the same thing but wanted to put a full day in before saying anything.

As for Matsya: 52 Caves > 13 Pugils > 1 Matsya....

People all say this like 1 hour of fishing after an update... you should've fished hak's long enough to know that that happens. I have personally gone 2 hours without a single bite and still averaged 11 catches for the day (partly because the next hour I caught 20+ but meh)

Didn't really record the little bit I did with the sinkers I had last night and after that I purposefully used regular since I think I got enough parsing of sinking by now lol but here it goes.

Cast: 1017, caught: 74, Break: 46. Looking back on past logs the break to caught rate is pretty much what it should be and while a little on the low end the caught to cast is still higher than a few of my runs

Well, I havent been fishing for haks for that long actually. I only just got my ebisu rod a month and a half or so ago...sorry for asking.

At any rate, my experience with Matsya after 24 pugils was 2 Matsya

That also sadly is actually around the average . And considering the only item not found so far is the synthing cape it's probably in them lol. Imagine it turn in rate compared to ebisu items combine with a fish that takes litterally hours to get just one if you count bait (sometimes even if you don't count bait lol). Then making it so you can't sell the cape directly making the fish price have to be rediculously high to offset opportunity costs... but at the same time make it potentially save crafters millions of gil.... would've been really nice before I lvld my stuff to about as high as I can get it lol. Oh well guess my crafting mules are doing the quests to be able to gut stuff now

Just went to try Matsya with 24 baits, ended up with 3 of them.
I also brought my mule with me to hold any monster i'd fish up (they're TW or EP at best at 99) and it made Matsya bite rate significantly better (ended up with 4 mobs to hold).
It pretty much puts it down to Rusty shit/Arrowood logs that won't consume your bait and Matsya bites (and some rare Cobaly Jellyfish).
Now to gut them or sell, the first one apparently sold for 1M ._.

Someone needs to try this:

Fish up all monsters and hold them on alt.
Fish for Matsya.

Report back with results. I am planning on getting a stack of bait and trying this.

I do know that there are a limited number of mobs in the water, so this should help reduce the number of things that can steal your bait.

Oh btw did you get approximate rates with all the fish out? When I used to do composure sneak if I got all or most out fast I'd go up to about 50/50 matsya/jellyfish. Vs the about 1 matsya for every 2-3 jellyfish/monster? I ask partly because want to math out if its worth it for me since my sleeper would be another ebisu rod character... might just be better for all my characters to go down and sneak fish together lol

Hmm, I only got Cobalt Jellyfish once or twice in this 24 baits sample, essentially Rusty/Logs.
As for Matsya bites, 50/50 seems correct, and even if it's something else than monster/cobalt, it won't consume your bait so it greatly improves your chances still.
My sleeper is an Ebisu char aswell but i'm really not motivated to get baits on both chars ._.. I assume you could safely pull like 30 matsya with a full stack of baits

Hmm I'll try it out later when I get enough bait and try to get rates. Though looks like I'll actually have sleep on my main.. even at that not looking forward to having to actually be there to sleepga ever 1.5 minutes. Less for resists lol. Wonder if it might just be easier to grab them and hold them in pdt + phalanx...
