Asura's Fish Ranking is lightest Armored Pisces. Anyone had this one pop up before?

Considering going for a ring but would like a rough idea of what to aim for and otherwiki has no info on it.

So I'm thinking of taking fishing back up (currently 40) and I see several options:

Minnow @ Selbina Ferry - Calamary, Bluetail and Noble Ladies all skill me up, but Ladies can break Halcyon line.

Insect Balls @ Western Altepa - Sandfish for skillups and Carp for working on Lu, but may be better to do skill/carp seperate than at same time? Also have to choose between possibly breaks with Halcyon and lost catches with Composite.

Rogue/Robber Rig @ Bubu/Nashmau/??? - Shall Shells? I skimmed over the thread, something about these being nerfed in certain places?


tl;dr - what do you guys think I should do @40 skill without Lu Shang's?

I believe at 40 I was in South Gustaberg with a sinking minnow stamina fishing letting go all bastore breams and I think Gold Lobsters skilled me? I also did monke-onke occasionally because smaller fish were boring.

I suggest you stay away from Sandfish, although moats do bite there, Sandfish are little bitches to pull up, they move way too much and dont bite all that often.

Shall Shells are good, Halcyon With Rogue/Robber rig is good IF you can tell a rusty subligar from a shall shell, because they will snap line and cost you the lure. Not sure if its definitely Halcyon, though.

They nerfed shells on the cliffs in bubu peninsula, but you can still get a good bite rate on the beaches in bubu and in the dunes. If you arent willing to risk the lure, I think you can use crayfish balls.

As for moats, I suggest fishing shall shells or nebs and selling those, using the money to buy your moats. It'll take probably a third of the time if you did this rather then fished your carps on your own.

Shall Shells are decent profit on my server, and at the least it's reliable money. Though ymmv depending on your own market.

I've been doing Shalls since 19 Fishing and before I bought my Lu's I did Halcyon/Rogue Rig at the beaches in Bubu and Doons (Also Fishing on ferry for Nebs/Ladys With Halcyon/Minnow) and only ever lost one Rig to a line-break and that was because I wasn't paying attention.

If you cancel all the "Bad Feeling" and the "!!!" you shouldn't lose any Lures, and after a day or two you elarn when a Shall is on the line and cancel everything else anyway.

In Bubu you'll get the occasional Bluetail which are absolute whores to pull in, and in the Doons you'll get the occasional Greedie which make your Rod bounce like a superball.

Only fish I've noticed that have sort of the same stamina as Shalls are Quus which are few and far between.

If you're after Shalls for Profit you can also fish up the ToAU versions at Nashmoo port, though at least on Asura they run at 1/2 the going rate of Shalls.

I'd look into buying a Lu's too. They don't devalue much and they pay for themselves in the long term.

If you're thinking of questing one I'd also go the "Fish for profit then buy Carp" route. It takes me about 4 Hours to catch the 200 Carp limit, but in that same time I could also catch about 7-8 stacks of Shall Shells which would buy more Carp than I could fish in the same time.

Not many fish up to 100 will break Lu, and the ones that do are uncommon. You can easily find someone to fix. If you're planning to go for Ebisu that's a different story. No WW just makes this quest frustrating. I have no WW, so i bought another Lu and borrowed a LS mate. 3 Lu's and fishing for Ebisu is still a pain, but manageable. 0/126 on Gugru & 0/85 on Liks. -.-'

Btw, the secret pond of Lu Shang himself has been discovered. There is a pond in Rolanberry [S] that has 99% bite rate on moat carp. Lol.

Slug Pond? It's pretty good for Carp, I tried it out a few weeks back. Long walk there though.

EDIT: Wafik, Alchemists can repair Halcyon rods can't they? You can skill to 50 or so pretty reliably with one. If you can repair them you can probably go a little bit farther with them, just need to be careful what you target.

Thanks for the infos though, I do have quite a few WW friends who'd gladly fix my Lushang though if I were to break it so that'll be of help I'll just have to pass the rod back and forth I guess in the later levels.

I have a small question. Between Nebimonite and Shall Shells there is about a 5 level gap or more. I dont want to go fishing for Shall Shells right after I cap Nebs at the fear of terrible bite rates from Shalls. Is there any other semi profitable or good fish to be fished in the gap before Shall Shells?

I did Shall Shells from about 34 to 53. I got a Shall about 4/10 casts, which seemed low after skilling up in Jugner and then La Theine, but Red Terrapin and Black Eel were much worse bite rate. Shalls are relatively cheap on Ramuh atm, but still decent gil.

It's convenient that Istiridye can be caught in Nashmau, but they don't really sell on the AH, and the recipe for Fish Mithkabob that uses them uses the Grimmonite equivalent rather than Nebimonite (which doesn't have an eastern equivalent). But if you're a cook it's convenient that you can pull up all the fish for Pescatora sitting in Nashmau...

From 27-33 I fished at the SE lake in La Theine with Composite/Frog Lure getting Giant Catfish (rank up fish), Dark Bass (useless) and Red Terrapin (306 gil to NPC). Once the Catfish capped at 31 I switched to Halcyon to avoid the too small messages and just released all !!!

I'm 0/83 on Liks. Its been slow...

Read on titanictus its an average of 110 to get it.

It took me 222 Liks to get mine, wiki says its an average of about 200 for each item, .5% gutting rate. I got my gugru on #20 though.

Fished all of my liks with just albatross ring, bought all my gugrus D:

And I'm glad too, its the one thing I know a lot about in this game, crafting/fishing.

Is there a site that lists the current fishing competition requirement, or do I have to go out to selbina (or is it mhaura?) to find out what fish I need and then go get it and come back.
