Well then, perhaps I should just give up on this Cape! All of the anecdotal evidence is hardly conclusive about how much it actually affects skill ups!

Not claiming it's shit, more venting out of frustration because I farmed the majority of those squamas by soloing pixie after god damn pixie because they've become quite rare on Odin AH.

As soon as I get my bonecraft mule to zaldon I'm gunna start lvling subs. Not quite the same as high lvl stuff but should provide a better idea what it's capable of. And then once I get the character to 70 and get ahold of some staghorn coral (seriously only 2 ls's do legion here and one is jp and someone appears to be ahbotting for them so it's really hard to get :/) I'll start comparing high lvl stuff.

I had 18 breaks and 2 successful reel ins on sat night. I think it's pretty safe to expect a 75% break rate

before doing so try and take note of what craft and skill you start at as well as the sys you use. that way someone can do the same ones to get to the same lvl and look at it side by side.

Depends on how you do it. If all the monsters are out of the pool in the long run almost exactly half my bait goes to matysa the rest to jelly fish. Of the matsya each run I've done has averaged between 2/3 and 3/4 breakrate. Overally generally I expect 1 fish per 8-10 bait if I get all the monsters out first 10-12 if I don't. It's part of the reason I generally only go with alot of bait since I first started a few years ago

I don't know, I'd be leaning more towards 5% than 2%. Our group doing Matsyas has seen rates of 1/9, 1/30, and 1/4 so far (seeing those 3 in a span of 26 trades). Even with a 5% drop rate, going 1/100 is fully possible, just not likely. Going to be doing a lot more and keeping track so we shall see, I guess.

Not even close to half of the existing shawls are spoken for in terms of drop rates. I'm still thinking a larger sample size is needed for anything definitive.

He was being reported because he went 1/1 and almost certainly wouldn't have been reported if he'd gone 0/1. That sample is biased. Still, you're talking about the difference between "Maybe it's 1 or 2%" and "Maybe it's 1 or 2%."

Whether it's 10/706 or 9/705, it's still not a 5% drop rate.

What you're saying would be true if everyone were forced to report their success rate. But they're not, so anyone going 1/1 is much more likely to report it than people going 1/100.
