I agree that you may not be seeing some high numbers because it's either too exhausting, too expensive or too soon. Matsya are holding firmish on odin at around 490k a fish, so assuming you bought them all, even 0/100 would be 49m gil, a hefty chunk. Assuming you have 1 dedicated fishing character and you fished 150 cherax per day, you may end up with 30 pugils if you're lucky, which then may net you 3-4ish matsya which equates to say 25ish a week. Cape has been out how long? 3 or so weeks now?
These numbers are rough estimates based solely on my one character who has fished nothing but cherax/matsya since the update day, but you get my point that the larger fail numbers may not be seen quite yet. Personally, I think it will average about 2.5% drop rate.
I haven't posted my numbers yet because I don't want to burden the recorder with multiple updates, but what CDG says is correct. This is miserable and I do this on my main (I usually try to hit the 210 cap too).
I'd put that turn in rate for CC higher. Mines always between 1/3 and 1/4. And the bait to fish will vary alot between individuals who can hold mobs on another character and those that can't. But yeah the last big push I did with 2 mules was around 3ish days of fishing to get ~130 bait for each of mules to fish up 48 matsya while my main held the stuff for a few hours. Was able to get a few more CCs that day but still uggg. So not going to even both with my cooking mule unless they raise the cap. Though will probably throw my extra fish at it
After cross-referencing wiki's Inside the Belly quest and JP wiki's quest page, I noticed the JP wiki page had 2 more fish listed: Morinabaligi (2009 update) and Yayinbaligi (2010). Morinabaligi just have cuir gloves inside of them, while Yayinbaligi have something called a Telluric Ring. Pretty useless on both accounts, but a neat overlooked tidbit. Looks like Cdgreg owns one of the rings.
edit: It looks like Draylo was the one investigating where the ring came from in the Question thread
edit2: As for why I was on JP wiki in the first place tonight, I was going to mention that contributers there organize Inside the Belly "gutting results" into a few general drop-rate categories: .4%, 1%, 1-2% (brigand's chart), 3-5% (pirate's chart), 5%, and 25%. The chart probabilities don't really coincide with the English wiki's results anymore, so not sure what's up with that. Not that these categories are so cut-and-dry to begin with. It's too bad they haven't updated drop rates for items in any fish that was added to the Inside the Belly quest after it was introduced.
It probably doesn't help to tell you, I was 0/7 on my main, caught 12 more, then turned 2 in on my alt for the cape. It was her 2nd fish ever to trade to Zaldon. xD
Yeah I could see how that would affect things. Like I said, I was 0/7 before, but I knew I was going to fish a bunch more so I didn't post until after that, and I had gotten my cape.
68 Bait > 12 Matsya.
Very much enjoying the cape btw, power-leveling my alt's Smithing from 15 with cape/kitron macaraon, and it's rather rare that I don't get a skill-up. Definitely gonna save a lot of money, I hope it stays this way until 110. lol
Matsya can DIAF seriously 0/30...
0/7 zzz its really boring to do!
Update:
0/176
This is seriously making me want to quit this game. It's that ridiculous...
I know the cape saves major money but is there anything worth leveling a craft to 110 for atm?
Occasionally after a marathon of fishing, I will have all my characters locked into 15 FPS. I talk with a lot of people who fish and they say it doesn't happen to them.
It requires me to log off and reboot my PC to get back up to 30.
Does this happen to anyone else?
Assuming you have a craft with the +2 torque you can T1 the hexed gear for your craft. However, it's probably more of a completionist/enjoyment piece than anything else. I do imagine as the caps continue to raise that you will be at a distinct advantage.
For me it's simply a goal in-game to work towards. I know it has cost me 11m for my last .1, but who cares. I don't want relics, will not put the effort into mythics, and enjoy working on something most others do not.
Yeah I can see that. Unfortunely WW has no hexed gear or skill torque. But I am making 08-09 profits on HQ staves because people are fucking morons.
Yeah golds in a similar boat. No skill torque and really really really expensive hexed gear that well mostly sucks
Yeah just saw a whole bunch sell for 700k here... that might be worth it to me but once that buyer gets cape...
0/40, going to wait for price to drop a bit before attempting more. dropped 14.2 mil so far
What is the easiest way to go buy garunteeing myself that skill up fishing ring from the Selbina Fishing contest?
