If I'm wearing +crafting gear that takes me above the cap of the fish I'm skilling up on, will I still get skillups?

Yes same as with normal crafting

If you're using a bot, don't bother. Mooching does not seem to affect break rate from what people are saying.

Because the reality at this point (atleast on Odin) is the majority of "serious" fishermen bot. I'm not talking about the occasional fishermen, but if you /sea all beau. glacier I would guess at least 80%+ of those are botting, same for cave cherax/matsya, lik, and gugs.

Not saying it's right or wrong, nor, I imagine, was Yugl.

To further expound no matter what you do the gil/hr fishing is horribad. Even with gugrus at 50k now that's basically on par with a cruor pts gil but that's only if you got rings to burn or you bot so you can actually catch them. Plus you gotta find buyers. The bread and butter of ebisu fishers is hak's which is a little over 100k an hour. Pretty much any farming you do can beat that. The only reason it is done is you can afk it easy. But if you are at your comp camp other stuff. I mean 2 hours in dynamis solo can make you more than 24 hours of fishing. Also I'm not sure but the update really helped fishing you might be able to get them down in time without mooching rings or bot. You gotta really be on your toes paying attention though


Unrelated side note I just made a weird discovery. So I had 4/5 monsters up and at the same time both my mules got a monster on the line. One of the reels it up first. The other gets lack of skill message lol

at 50k a pop gugs make it darn good lol. I have been getting around 5~6 per hour. 250k~300k per hour is not that bad at all.

finding the buyer, now thats the hard part.

Well it's not that bad for fishing... especially if you can afk. But there are alot of other things that are better. At the very least you can find an xp pt and make more from cruor. Dynamis is much better salvage maybe even limbus farming stuff like squamous hides etc. Just saying that's part of the reason most serious fishers bot because if they were actually at the comp paying attention and such (or leeching in abyssea) they could make more faster. But fishing is a very low maintence way of making money

Where the hell are gugs being sold for 50k? They're about 17k each on Odin with 40k a stack meatballs. I'll server hop to where gugs are being sold for 50k each...

wtf 40k stack of meatballs.... costs me all of about 5k to make a stack. And that's if I buy the meat. Lately this guy I met while farming some meat has just been giving me stacks and stacks that he gets while killing bunnies for whatever reason he does lol. Shit I could make decent money over there farming meat and making meatballs lol.

But yeah suprised me since last I saw they were 30k. Can't believe they so cheap over there. You'd have to be an idiot to sell them at that price compared to haks

Ya, I just plain don't. If someone wants bulk and will pay 20k a pop I'll find them a couple hundred lik/gug in a day. But I'm sure as shit not going to clog my inventory and put in the effort trading, bazaar pricing, and bazaar idling them for less than 20k. 20k has been a steadyish price for somewhere around 5 years on Odin which I feel is fair.
