well i read that i should still be doing Quu's but after 2 hours of no skill ups i went to try these guys:

Tricolored Carp (12/27), Dark Bass (18/33), Gold Carp (41/56)

in jugner using Lushan + little worm, i got about a stack and a half of each before calling it a night, so total 6hours now and still no skill up.

This is very discouraging for a newcomer lol

If I'm not mistaken, I think I skilled on them when I was lower, and they generally had a very poor skill up rate.

And dont expect for fishing skill ups to be fast, it has its ups and downs. Fishing isn't like other crafts, fishing NEEDS the patience, unlike say cloth and gold which can be bought to 100, basically.

Fishing to 100 is one of the few things in the game that no amount of gil can buy (unless you buy your account).

So just stick in there and be patient.

Fishing is slow and can't be powerlevelled >_> The only way to skill it up faster is to get a penguin ring and even then it won't be like other crafts. You won't see skillups on every other fish you catch like in other low level crafts

I just noticed that GreatBlue lists Lik as a fish that can break an Ebisu's line...is that true ? If so, it sucks :/

Edit: Oh and same for Gugrusaurus.
Edit2: Actually, most of the 100+ fishes are said to break Ebisu's line O.o

Always there to the best of my knowledge. You can MPK them pretty easily by binding a mob behind the cabin then logging though.

"GMPK" the pos-hacking ones -- usually calling a GM results in disappointment, but GMs will take care of the pos-hackers fairly quickly.

Well once I got it I didn't want to see another ferry ride for a looooong time. (1/225 on Gugs) So I haven't had much legendary experience with the Ebisu. Might be right though.

I'm at 86.x now, and after the skillups on Pterygotus in Nashmau kinda died (even with ring) I figured I would try boat fishing for Titanictus and Ryugu Titans and Sea Zombies, hoping the skillup rate would be better. And well...it's not :/

Kuftal Tunnel on Cave Cherax (100) with Lu shang + Meatball. Might catch a devil manta. Cherax's NPC for 1.8K.

Talacca Cove with Lu Shang + Sinking Minnow to catch Ahtapot (90) & Dil (96). Ahtapot NPC and dil can sell on AH or NPC. Dil is the ToAU Black Sole.

I did a mix of: Quicksand Caves for cave cheranx, and the boatride for ryugu titans and titantictus. Npced the first and last, gutted titans, got two merc. swords out of it :D

That's the only option I didn't try much so far...gonna do it today.

I did that for weeks, when I was 82ish. I used up 50-60 ring charges there. I got tons of Dils, probably more than 30 stacks. But not a single fucking skillup in the whole process ; ;

Titanictus and Sea Zombies are really easy to catch at 86, but so far after ~120 of the first and ~20 of the second, I only got a .2. And Ryugu Titans are a real pain in the ass to reel in at this level...but after ~50 or so I just got .3 once. All this with full-time ring use.

Maybe it's just me, but I feel it's so slow since the day I hit 85...

From the day I it 86, it probably took me about 2 weeks of fishing to hit 100. Most of it was on cave cheranx because nothing else at all (besides occasional rusties) will bite in QSC, not even monsters.

Oh, I also did a few levels on Lik's close to 96 or so for my ebisu item. Forgot those :D
