Well, after close to 4 hours in Kuftal yesterday evening, I got 45 Cave Cheraxes, 60 line breaks, but not a single skillup :/

Trying again right now, so far so bad...I hate my luck lately.

Just stick in there, then. Look into picking up another one just incase, contest just started if I'm not mistaken? Or will be very soon.

Try quicksand caves at the pond where the sandy mission is done, no monsters will bite, no other fish, just occasional rusty items, use lus with meatballs.

I wasn't concerned about gil when I skilled on them, I just wanted 100 fishing. If you dont mind the loss of the devil manta's possible drop, try Quicksand Caves. Only problem is during any weather effects your bite rate will drop a lot.

That's pretty much my plan. I'm going to try Quicksand tomorrow though, just in case skillups are better there.

Even though I don't get skillups right now, the gil isn't bad and I actually get a good amount of BSs/KSs from EP mobs here.

Everything else in this game, I am subpar at. If theres one thing I know, it's fishing.

But I did sorta rush the craft. Took me six or seven months to get from 0-100 and ebisu. Compared to some players who have taken a year alone to get ebisu. I just wanted that accomplishment.

Well I started fishing in March 2004 and am still far from 100...It's only lately that I got motivated to get 100 or as close as I could.

Since the day I reached 40 I always took the money road, which has been slow but rewarding But now I'm trying to speed things up, and it's not working so well lately...oh well...

If I don't have any GP items yet, should I go for the signboard first (assuming I don't opt for Serpent Rumors&Mooching first)? I should be Veteran rank by the time I have 200,000 GP saved up.

No one knows exactly what moglification: fishing does, as far as I know. I read somewhere its supposed to decrease line snap rates, but I'm not quite sure. I didn't bother saving for the signboard, instead I just bought "The Big One" so I could get Moghancement: Fishing.

Fishing apron, from what I saw, has a noticeable difference in item catch rates, and waders have 1 more fishing skill them moglification/moghancement.

If you plan on going for ebisu, I suggest doing apron/rumors until moglification stats are proven.

Apparently the description says that it "makes it slightly easier to reel in your catch", which otherwiki interprets as lowering fish stamina.

It used to be Rabao, but Yughott Grotto (at the northern ponds) yields caps and rusty picks.

Yughott Grotto yielded pretty decent results for me. I just need .7 more off them to be done with half the terrible 30s.

Not like anyone would care, but I finally hit 90 after a looooooooong, looooooooooooong streak of evenings fishing hundreds of Pterygotus without a single skillup (with ring on full-time).

Anyway...I have the feeling the last 10 levels are gonna be big fun.

So I've been steadily lvling fishing for the past few months. At first I started with the carp route to get lu shangs while lvling but at around 30 switched to a more profit oriented fishing and I've been using all my profits to buy more carps, mostly targeting fish worth twice as much, or more, than carps. Well I dont know If I've been lvling abnormally fast or what as I am now lvl 52 fishing and am sitting on only 3500 carps. What did I do wrong...oh well guess its time to just buckle down and finish the bitch up.

Head to Windurst: in Woods/Walls/Waters you can skill up to 56 on Gold Carp which NPC for ~300 gil while you pull up moats.

You might as well take Shall Shells to 53 first, though.

But I took my last guild test on October 1st, screen shot it, and I also screen shot when I hit 100 fishing on October 15th, took me two weeks to finish from 88-100 :D

what did SE do to fishing in this pre-update? I heard lvl 20 below you can only catch certain fishs per-week. Well thank-god I have lvl 75 @_@...
