Under level 20
Online for less than 2 weeks? (The time allotted for the free expansion)
Some other condition.

Basically made it so that if you're using the free-trial thing, fishing is not for you.

I don't know if SE messed up something again ...
Needed some Roasted Carp for cooking GP so I made some Insect Ball and started to fish in Windurst Wood.
After 8 Carp and 2 rusty leggings, I always got the "You didn't catch anything".
Because I were on my lvl 16 DNC, I changed to a lvl40 then lvl75 job but still didn't catch anything.
My fishing skill is 34 and I didn't fish for a few weeks.

@Juib <3 you can skill on the gold carps yes, and colelct moat carp while you do. but i would go skill on Shall shells like i said last week, atleast they sell fast and on our server one stack of shalls will buy you 2+ stacks of carp

Poor bite rate on Pterygotus. I'm skilling on these lately, @90.4 right now.
Skillups are also rare, but not rarer than they were for me before patch...also with full-time ring...got a new one last week.

yeah skill up has been really poor but i dont mind so much since you make quite a bit NPCing the fish. Plus i have nothing better to do, really all i do is fish or craft if i am on the game

yeah i know i did that for a while. but they dont sell fast enough, markets been getting flooded and undercutters fuck the price up. and when im fishing 15 or so stacks a day, it makes it hard to be patient or spread out my sales.

instead ive been fishing for moats and golds in windy mainly just because i can reach fatigue for the day a lot faster, usually about 3 hour, whereas in outdoor areas i have to single out my fish, such as shalls, avoiding monsters and whatnot. it will probably take longer in the long run doing it this way but i spend less time per day fishing which is nice because i've been really busy. im just gonna keep pluggin away at it...@5k now

I tried to fish there just to avoid the trip to the ferry for skills up on Sandfish with a Lu and a Sabiki and being level 31 fisherman the bite rate was like 1/15...so...meh...

Anyone got feedback on this from previous experience?

Anyone get any weird results from fishing for liks with minnows? Since the patch I've been line breaking and rod breaking like a mother fucker. As soon as I switched to Drawf Pugils (because I went through 20 minnows in like 15 minutes), I caught two. Wtf. :/

Use a worm lure. Sandfish love the thing. You may also pick up an occasional giant donko as well.

Liks and Gugru can go on a hot steak and break rods like mad. Hate this damn quest 0/140 on gugru & 0/50 on Liks. I got 5M tied up in 2 Lu's. @#$#@$#@#@

Tested succesfully. Works really great. Improved the bite rate and yep, I do fish Giant Donkos also which I npc for 196 Gil each.
Also good skill ups.

Gonna stay in Rabao until capping @ 50.
Then we'll see where to go.

Well it's worse then a hot streak atm. It's been breaking everything every time I come out here now. :/

When I was skilling up to cap on Black Sole, I noticed that I was getting 0.1s and 0.2s until I hit 95, but then only 0.1s between 95 and 96. Then looking back over my logs, I see the same thing when I was capping on Shall Shell and Trumpet Shell: when I was just one point below cap, I'd only get 0.1 skillups. Is this a general rule?

When I was on the last few levels to 100 I found the Cave Cherax in QSC to be very skill up friendly. Was much , much better than trying to target the various 100+ skill fish on the ferry or Liks.

I finally got lu shangs a few weeks ago. Its been great. I've read pretty much every guide out there and considered all my options for lvling but I've ultimately settled on pretty much sticking with Nashmau/Talacca Cove for most of it. It just seems to easy to pass up. The income is pretty solid and the skillups have been pretty good even 30 lvls under the cap. I seem to still average about 2 lvls per day when I fish to cap.

Any opinions? Any recommendations on a better place? As of right now I have no problem staying here till 96
