It's not fishing that is broke, it's the bots. Making 80k an hour for a few hours before bed after spending 2 hours farming/harvesting/fishing/crafting your own bait isn't the game changer.

with limbus/namis really fishing is not broken you are right. But SE needs to do something about the bots. I wish we had a lot more fish like mastys. the real thing that comes into play is the damn fishing game is on our side, not the server.

I hope SE cleans out some of the E-rods if they do fix fishing... it feels so much cheaper then it did when I got it years back.

That's because of the self-imploding market ebisu rods create. More rods = more people fishing Lik/gug = More rods. I sell guaranteed opal/saber for 10m now and 90% of the time can have it done in a weekend.

    Oh looky here: http://www.ffxiah.com/item/5127/gugrusaurus
10k gugs on AH and over 260 currently in bazaars

holy shit, odin looks really looked form a fishign point of view!

I dont mind if SE adds more items to inside the belly that are good/awesome, but also sellable (only haveing a rare tag). Would be awesome. Imagine if shaper's would only have a raretag ¬.¬

I am catching essentially 0 masks in oldton movopolas. I thought I was close to a new break here, especially now with the ability to warp 5 feet away from the fishing spot via proto-waypointing.

However even with moghancement: fishing and shrimp lure or sabiki rig, I am catching 4-5 masks an hour, which is not evenr eally netting me a whole stack of fibres an hour. What spot are you all fishing at, Im using the big round pound area with the paths overhead, and no Im not using any rings or apron.

I've found Shrimp to be better than Sabiki and I feel like my mule with 87/Lu did better catching items than my mule with 90-something/Ebisu, but I didn't actually keep track of time, bite/catch rate, etc. I used Noddy Ring and had Mog: Fishing active. It's still really streaky and I didn't feel I got a lot of masks, but I ended up with a lot (12-ish? stacks) of glass fiber due to HQs. I'm having a harder time not blowing up the Copper Rings, even with Kitron Macarons.

I just used sabaki. Not sure how many I got exactly but did it over the course of an evening + overnigh and filled my invent. Was in that circular area. Got enough glass from that even as gold main to last me a couple of days. Though that was really streaky too lol. Like litterally 8 HQs in a row follow by 30 breaks in a row

Here is some fishing data for you to chew on this morning. Sample size is over roughly a week. Figure you catch Bastore Sardine to make Sardine Balls, and synth your own copper ingots from ores as well as Glass Fibers from Masks. I went into this looking for the least time consuming way to fish Haks as well as the least costly. I have 2 110 fishers with waders and synergized apron and mega moglification. For minnows and sinking minnow I alternated fishing days.

    Sardine Balls
    Casts 7122
    Caught 517
    Released 4915
    Lost Catch 220
    No Bite 695
    Bait Used 6427
    Bite Rate 10.35%
    Bait per catch 12.4
    Cost per catch 399

    Minnows
    Casts 6683
    Caught 502
    Released 3965
    Lost Catch 253
    No Bite 1124
    Bite Rate 11.3%
    Bait per catch 0.5
    Cost per catch 371

    Sinking Minnows
    Casts 5778
    Caught 558
    Released 1181
    Lost Catch 260
    No Bite 2439
    Bite Rate 14.2%
    Bait per catch 0.5
    Cost per catch 343

As I am sure you all know, but whenever I talk about fishing I always have to reiterate that fishing is streaky and somewhat random. As expected going from sardine balls to minnows to sinking minnows you see an increase in bite rate.

I was a little surprised to see it actually took more synths to get an equivalent amount of minnows compared to sardine balls. It was however very convenient to take out a few stacks of synth mats and be ready to fish in a 72 synths compared to 210 for sardine balls. It just means a get to move the majority of my synth time from right before fishing to a more convenient time.

When it comes to profitability the lines get blurred even further. While you have better bite rate with minnows/sinking minnows, overall you will spend more time synthing your bait. Personally I have 106+1+1+2 alchemy and have over a 50% HQ rate on synthing minnows, so your results may vary based on that. I did not parse the time it took for me to catch a batch of Bastore Sardines, nor did I parse the time it took to get a batch of masks for glass fibers. Eyeballing it masks would win hands down. A day for Bastore Sardine fishing would net me maybe 20 stacks of sardines, and 4-6 hours of mask fishing would net me 15-20 stacks of fibers.

After looking at all the data the conclusion I came up with is there is no real wrong bait to use for hak fishing. From the start of the process, getting mats ready for bait, to the npcing of haks you will end up with very similar amounts of gil as well as similar amounts of time used.

Desynth is like that- even if you're sixty zillion skill levels above the cap, it always has much higher HQ and failure rates. It's one of the reasons I just ran around Starfall back in the day- meteorites and yagudo necklaces are a synth rather than a desynth and hey, zero fishing fatigue. For a bonus, if you don't have your Fisher's Torque already, there's a Ruins tower right next door- between Giddeus and Starfall. Go in, obliterate all the Goblins for the occasional mask for fibers and caskets (and hope for the torque), run back out, take a quick spin around Starfall for necklaces/meteorites/silk threads, repeat while the goblins respawn. You can scoop up the entire room of goblins in one circuit without trouble and AoE the lot of them to death, then scoot around Starfall the same way since crawlers link to each other, so do Yagudo.

Am I missing something or is there a reason why you wouldn't use rogue/robber for fishing up masks?

Is there a reason you would? As long as nothing bites it, wouldn't they all be equal?

I'd always thought that the rogue/robber rigs attracted items more but I readily admit that this could be based on a 7-8 year preconception.

Sometimes. Though with rings my hq rate is more normal while my break is really low

What price do you think I could bazaar a metric fuckton of minnows at in beaucedine to have the sell fast?

I'm trying to find some direct buyers but no dice yet, but they sold real fucking fast at 4K each so I need to obviously up it up more.

Would depend alot on the server... that's a pretty decent idea though. Wonder if I should do that... though now fire crystals are becoming a pain to find lol

I'd say if prices on all ships tend to stay near capped (outside of pirate rides of course) chances are you can probably sell at least a couple thousand above that price just for convience and actually being able to get them.

What is the reference to Hak fishing I've read a few times? Sorry old new guy here.

    Also had some questions:
Litterly just got my ebisu (1/70ish Lik, 1/489+ gugs•FML•), I pick it up on Sunday.
I'm curious, what is sinking minnow used for? I see the discussion, but in missing the purpose.
My goals right now are: finish up +skill items (smock, waders, stall, torque, rope)
Any other items I should be working towards? Also plan on spamming MMM for those rings once a day.
My end goal is to be able to fish up a couple of matsya a day. Is that realistic?
I assume shaper shawl is the big ticket currently, what sort of income should I be working towards per day?

I know that's sorta hard to quantify but I honestly don't know what to really fish up, other than matsya, once I get my ebitchsu rod. Is it really just liks and gugs and matsya?

P.s I am 97% sure I'm spelling the name of that fish wrong but am to lazy to actually verify the Correct spelling.

Fishing up Hakuryu, which you then NPC for ~10k each. Minnows and Sinking Minnows are the lure of choice, Sinking have a higher bite rate. Line breaks are common (~1/3rd), so you need large quantities. The other option is Sardine Balls.

Rope won't actually help your skill, discernment does next to nothing. It's a nice "look at all the stuff I have" piece tho.

It's quite possible that Puffin Ring doesn't do what people use it for and may be quite useless. Noddy may also turn monster bites simply into no bites, so may not be overly useful either. If you want Matsya legit, you're likely going to need the Mooching KI even with capped skill and all +skill items.

If you level ~100-110 on Cave Cherax and turn all of those in, you'll likely end up with something like 700-800 dwarf pugils. Otherwise you're looking at ~50 Dwarf Pugils per day (200 Cherax), and maybe 1 Matsya per 10 pugils without someone holding mobs, a little more with.

If you're fishing up Matsya looking for a Shaper's, why would you need income per day? I don't quite understand the question.

Liks, Gugs, Matsya, Cave Cherax towards Matsya, and Hakuryu for NPCable gil.

You're spelling them all right, actually.

I don't know about matsya or whatever else, but I'm pretty confident +skill does absolutely nothing for fishing haks. My bite/line break rates are the same at 110+12 as they were at 90+6.
