Se made the e-rod and there where very few with it. Building one took months even if you knew a fisher. Not so much the case anymore. And each rod can make another even faster lol

Yeah I didn't keep exact numbers but I remember when I first went for gugs at 70 god my break rate was around 50-66% lol. Once I got to 100 though it was still about 33% lol
whoops wrong thread
Just to add some more data to the minnow/sardine comparison me and dasva were building earlier, excluding bait crafting, running, etc time - so just the time from your first cast until your last catch/line break, after 48 hours (from combined fishing sessions) I have about 7min42sec per hak (been rounding up or down to 5minutes, and it's been almost exactly 48hrs for 374 haks so far). I'll continue adding to the totals to get that time more accurate but just wanted to post an update on it.
From the previous comparisons, we know that the sardine method has a faster and cheaper setup, the question is whether the time actually sitting at Glacier fishing was faster with sardine or minnows. My personal feeling is that minnows are faster. I have no data to back it up as I never recorded fishing time with minnows, but it just feels like it takes longer to catch 100~ haks with sardine balls. I'll be interested to see if I'm right and it is faster with minnows or not.
Whoops almost forgot about that. Yeah been kinda busy with other stuff ig lately but I think I have some data in my notes. I'll thru it when I get home. Iirc I actually got minnow production cost per hak caught to be a little less than sardine but a little more time. I believe minnow catch rate was a tad better but not much. Surprisingly sinkers were enjoyed a much larger advantage over regular then I'd thought. Makes me wish I was alchemy main... I'll get actual numbers for real comparison later tonight though
Someone write a program to turn in all these god damned Cave Cherax. Spamming /trade "Cave Cherax" <stnpc> 100 times a day with a 5 second delay between trades is miserable.
Such things have been out for awhile. Hell you could probably make spellcast loop That does that
edit: answered.
ok probably my final numbers on farming.
So far since I switched to the tonberry method I've spent ~625 minutes between gearing/running and synthing to make 1439 glass fibers. I used up 524 lightning crystals which at current cost of 4k a stack comes out to 174666 gil. However I made 710267 from just npcables so net +535601 gil for this stage
Time to make enough ingots for that accounting for 5% break rate assuming 2 seconds per buy and 22.8 per synth should be 777.5 min and with ore being 11 gil each and fire crystals being 5k a stack a cost of -697788 gil.
Assuming same times and costs to synth all those into minnows should take another 546.8 min and cost -599583.
So grand total for 1439 minnow synths is 1949.3 min and a cost of 761770 gil. Or about 81 seconds and 529gil each.
Now to the times. Sadly because of various things like testing and comp restarting in the middle of fishing data is still meh but here it is.
Using my 110 fishing mule with all the crafted gear and rings + smock +megamog with reg minnow I've spent 5325 minutes to catch 739 fish or about 7 min 12 sec per catch.
Sinkers so far is 2160 minutes to catch 394 or about 5 min 28 sec per catch. Though admittidly that sample size is poor.
Going to my other mule that has same stuff except 100 skill with reg minnow I've spent 4450 min to catch 545. Or average 8 min 9 sec each.
Sinkers is 2780 min for fish 422 or average of 6 min 35 sec each.
I'll try to get better sample sizes when I can
Edit: I'd also like to add that time is going to be hard to really get accurate. Not even counting for the way fishing varys alot without keeping track of fatigue and really who has the time to really count all that out it's gunna throw things off a bit. Wish I knew a way to math out based on catch/cast etc parses
I've just been writing down timestamp for start/stop times, and then like I said rounding it to the nearest 5 minutes. I think that should be accurate enough for what we want already really.
I'm thinking with those Sinker times that it might not be too inaccurate even with such a small sample size, I've also felt it be substantially quicker myself too.
Recently I did a massive sardine ball synth session (10644 sardine balls, or 107 stacks) instead of synthing just enough for one night's haul. When I run out what I'll try and do is synth enough in one sitting to give a comparable amount to your 1439 minnows, then give time and cost based on that (I wont include sardine mule fishing time in that though as it can be done completely afk while you fish up haks, if that's ok with you?). I still have 74~ stacks of bait left though so it'll be a few days!
Yeah I just send myself a tell and recall the times later but similar thing. But yeah it just irks me how different the times could be with the exact same catch/cast. But I don't see much way around it. Even if we figured out exactly what the time between casts was depending on bite or not and such and used full parse data on rates and added in fatigue as it happened we would still have to make assumptions on how long people stayed in zone how many fished in a day etc. Oh well. Either I'd feel more comfortable with
Oh and those weren't all at once. Iirc that was 5 different cleave sessions. Plus all the time to do all that yeah definitely didn't make minnows for 32 hours straight outside assistance or not lol. I certainly don't have the invent space for that either lol. As far as not counting fishing up time I suppose you could not count that but if we aren't counting fish up time I could just be fishing up masks too. Granted it would cost more since I'm not npcing dark rings (plus desynth rate seems a tad better for some reason) and in real time actually be longer but would be less at comp time. I could look thru my old numbers and do a comparison of masks perhaps too. Though for me since all my accounts have ebisus it doesn't really matter who is doing who is doing what it all eats into hak time

fu with all your ebisus ._. maybe I should take time to fish liks/gugs for my other 2 chars...
Yeah it's really not so bad to make another one if you have one. Really at the point bait is like it might even be a nice little time off to get some gugs lol
So... going rate for a Hak now is?
Friend just checked. No adjustment.
Thank god.
I have a feeling we'll be targeting something in adoulin anyways. Signs pointing toward the epic new crafting rings possibly being inside the belly.
