Most of us fishers for years have dealt with GMs. I have had an E-rod for a god damn long time. Mine and dasva I think fell in the same month and I have had a Lu shang starting as far back as 04 I think. Never once have I or anyone I know seen this "pop up box" hell I think people went into the data files and said nothing like that is around.

Understand that for it to pop up on our screens as the few pics(that seem shopped show) it would have to be in the .dat files somewhere. That is a full on myth with zero backing.

Yeah I got mine forever ago. Was hard since only like 1-2 people on server had them and I didn't have WW. Was so glad when they finally made it useful with hakryu. Gotten a few talkings to even back in vunkrel. Always tells.

As far as pics I remember one but it was obviously shopped. Like totally wrong backgrounds in the text box compared to the rest of the screen lol

I don't know about half of what sevvy said since it can't be verified but I don't believe there are any EU specific gms, at least not anymore. The budget for this game is extremely low now... I believe they have downsized considerably if there ever even was any gms stationed in UK.

Not true, all NA and EU Game Mastering occurs in Los Angeles where all other GMs are, I know this for a fact.

this is wrong, there is a GM department in England for EU. My friend works thereas a GM/Translator for French Forums for FF 11 & 14. Why should i make this up?

The multichoice box is real. Way back in 2004/2005 era when there was early dragon's aery drama, our ls got thrown into jail for "holding" nidhogg. The gm ended up being a cool guy, and we just sorta chilled there for a while. Like we took LS pics with the GM in it and stuff, lol. I guess he started flirting with my female friend in the ls, and he sent her a multiple choice box with a silly question/answer in it to make her giggle.

Yeah, it's second hand, but this person has been one of my best friends for well over 10 years (including a few years before ffxi came out), so I buy it. You don't have to if you don't want to.

This doesn't make sense when you consider that Drakenyte would have to be an EU gm to ban these players, yet I've had dealings with him before and one of the people banned two days ago was using an NA account...

I'm not trying to say that either of you are wrong, but it is certainly not as cut and dry as you claim it to be. Clearly there are grey areas that both of you aren't considering. At a guess I'd say Damane's friend probably works for an out-sourced call center/data center that is servicing SE, LA branch as their client. Tasks have probably shifted significantly with the advent of FFXIV ARR beta/pre-launch I would question if your friend is even actively policing ffxi as a GM.

Edit: As for the gm multiple choice box, if they are using this as a tool to nab fish botters it's a pretty raw deal... Fishing without tools myself I know there's a high chance I would mess this one up completely, especially if I was mid-cast or reeling in a hard catch... I just mash those buttons as if pressing harder does more damage, lol.

I'd like to also confirm this pop up message box. It appears left part of the screen bigger than chat/magic/abilities menu. In 2005-2007 whatever year it was, in DA I got it once asking if I was at my computer while i was spamming dia waiting for pop. I have no proof of this but thought I'd add to the conversation. That being said I have never seen it again ever.
