The point I'm making is that in the instance previously quoted if the GM had banned that player/account then there isn't anything he could have done about it. You know it, I know it... we all know it.

Going into detail about "baiting" etc. is pretty pathetic. It won't wash with anyone, anywhere. If you get caught botting then wipe yer mouth of it and move on.

I think that's his entire point- GMs CAN bait, entrap, trick all they want. Is it a good business practice? Probably not. Can they do it? Sure, and much more.

This is what it boils down to. Honestly, I'm rather surprised that so many people are strangely aggressive when it comes to discussions regarding proper customer service. Apparently, things aren't being done right unless you're being treated like shit (e.g., a criminal instead of a customer). Furthermore, businesses do not have to adhere to any sorts of standards, and can do whatever they want, because that's how businesses make money. Really?

I suppose this is the logical extension of the general mythos that people surround videogame companies with, as if they were some extraordinary, fantastical exception to the rules of the professional world, simply because videogames are involved. It's strange.

What I think most are having a problem with us he/she was cheating.

What they need to be told is from the gms side he should not be treated like a cheater, he had no idea, he is just doing a check up. He answered and it should of ended there. He was treated as if he was a repeated offender.

Putting the debate about customer service aside, it did contain information that evidently wasn't common knowledge in the community (e.g., how and when the GMtell command is used), and which was also directly related to fishing, so there is that. I doubt there's anything left to be accomplished, though.
