Help!
I need to start catching Gugrusaurus but I have not even had 1 bite in approx 10 ferry trips?
WTF am I doing wrong?
Lu + Meatballs on both Mhurara and Alzabi Ferrys
Fishing skill 97 +4 for gear
I have KI Serpent rumours
No rings so I expect not to be able to actually pull em in....but why no bites?

On a side note I had no issues with Lik and amazingly went 1/19.
I have since spent 6 or 7 mil on Gugrusaurus and am 0/????

As Dasva said, sounds like human error on your part. If you're on the correct Ferry and using Meatballs they will bite. If you're botting make sure gugs are added to your fish list, otherwise they will not be identified as gugs (unknown) and thus not reeled in.

As for your numbers, I always overestimated at 1/200ish for each item. If you went 1/19, I'd tell myself expect nearly 400 gugs before getting saber shoot. I'm sure this is some sort of opposite gambler's fallacy, but it kept me sane as I made multiple Ebisus.

Thanks for the encouragement, I have not kept accurate numbers for the Gugs turned in but I can estimate over 300.
Therefore I am skint and need to start pulling in my own Gugs.
I have not tried again for a few days but when I go :
Open Sea route from Whitegate to Mhaura - Lu - Meatballs - Fishing Skill 97 + 4 (Serpent Rumours KI)
May work on ring first (def will if I get bites but unable to bring in)
What other GP items are a must to get?

Should not need any other KI. Many moons ago when I fished gugs I'd use Albatross and can't remember the second ring. Either way, some I would not be able to reel in time. They were the hardest fish for me to catch.

Yeah the only obvious reasons I can think of are you are on the wrong boat, you are getting bites without knowing it, or you are getting bites without your bot knowing it. Watch the actual messages since they do change IDs sometimes. I don't think I've ever gone a whole ferry ride without at least 3 bites. Also since you are using lu I'd recommend getting as much skill as you can including hq support. Your rod break rate on those gugs is painful

OK thanks for your input...he he i'm such a dope.
Turns out the first few rides were on the wrong Ferry, my 1 ride on the correct Ferry I must have just been unlucky.
I spent several hours riding the correct Ferry last night and managed to catch my first Gug (6 in total)
4 rod breaks and countless line snaps.
Plus another 4 from the AH @ 20k....I hate zaldon.

My advice has always been calculate the Gil per hour you are "saving" by fishing your own. If you caught 6 gugs in 3 hours that equates to making 40k per hour. If you can make more than 40k per hour doing anything else do that instead and buy all of the gugs.

If you are worried about AH supply, shout a few times in the city and I'm sure someone will take your order, probably for less than 20k each. Many fisherman now will offer a flat rate guarantee. I have done 8m flat rate for both items or 5m for one. In general, I filled orders within 1 weekend.

Also when factoring your catch rate if you are trying to math it out instead of averaging make sure to account for rod repair and ring acquisition. Especially if you don't have woodworking and have to hope over to rabao

I pick up my Ebisu on Sunday.
But just saying Zaldon dropped the shoot on Monday directly after the version update.
There were only 7 Gugs on AH I bought em...the second one turned in produced the shoot.
Go figure.
I bet I've only caught about 20 Gugs myself and bought about 300.

So when I get my Ebisu wtf do I do with it lol.

Thread hasn't had any action, but figured I'd post some stats from my Hakuryu fishers. I know dasva likes to see them. All of these are 110 fishers using minnows only. Each row is a different character.

It's worth noting that he runs out of Minnows sometimes. The lower fish/day numbers don't necessarily represent competition or skill differences.

207084 Hakuryu = 2,129,858,940 gil (without region bonus)
1196 days of fishing = 1,780,818 gil per day per fisher on average

Since the addition of case I don't run out as often. If I fill up the character can run the whole day without being touched. It comes down to if I have time to keep them stocked everyday.

That minnow or sinking minnow? And yeah case helps a bit even more so with mules and the ability to make them. Though it's been awhile since I cleaved tonberries myself. I've also noticed competetion for getting bait as gone done alot. And like right now only 24 in zone inlcuding the 1 mule I have fishing right now.
