Well, right now your rod fights on a 110+ fish about the same whether you're a lv95 fisherman or a lv110 fisherman with all the gear, at least that's what I notice. If I'm wrong, it certainly is pretty damn close, and an Ebisu makes it really close. And the sad thing is, it's pretty close on the risk of losing your catch end of things. Perhaps this will make the difference in levels more evident. In my example of lv95 vs. lv110 in the world of regular crafting, our lv95 crafter wouldn't even be able to attempt some crafts that a lv110 crafter could. Not saying the lv95 fisher shouldn't be able to fish up the 110+ fish in my example, but it sure shouldn't be as hard for our 110 fisher as it is for our 95 fisher. And if they remedy that, well then, I can't really argue that point.

Kinda what I'm saying is it's already there true it's not as pronounced as other crafts then again neither is synergy. So are they making the effects more happen with smaller level differences or something? Just seems odd to say they are implementing something that already exist. Especially since the dev note says only if there is a large difference in skill... just like it is now. That said if they do increase no way should it be anywhere near pronounced as in crafting. The amount of decent places to skillup and lower rates would be horrible.

While I haven't tested 95 to 110 there is a noticeable difference in catch rate between 100+9 and 110+9 and even a diff between 110+9 amd 110+10+other fishing furniture that probably isn't doing anything. So every little bit helps

Interesting that it's a charged ring. The only other charged fishing rings come from quests (pirate's and brigand's chart quests, and fish ranking).

If it helps I'm like 34 fishing while doing this. I haven't seen a problem with catching anything yet tho I haven't tried sole..

Duck Ring is from RoE quests Enter Fish Ranking. You only need to enter and have your fish approved.

YEah they announce it now when they change fish like that... I think they have every time for the last few years. Not sure if the same holds true for fish they add teh same update though

The new Fishing system is pretty fun! It's now very much like a mini-game. You still have to have very quick reaction times when pressing the direction that corresponds with the arrow on the screen.

I'll say this much, though. I seriously used to struggle big time fighting Ryugu Titan. Now? Cake.

Going to try for Gugrusaurus this time and see how much easier it is.

Yeah also noticed easy stuff is way easier now. Like things I'm decently over the cap for, items and monsters will go to no hp before I even see an arrow

I also used to struggle with Silver Sharks. Now? With this new system I was bringing them in within 4-5 seconds.

Ok, Gugrusaurus is a little bit of a struggle for me still. You REALLY have to focus on the arrows. One too many mistakes and you'll lose the catch.

I'd guess the odds of getting gold vs silver arrow and/or the discernment

ah ok. The gold vs. silver arrow makes sense, but as far as discernment is concerned, I'd find it weird that they would suddenly call it something else.

Has anyone tried haks at the glacier? I was using a minnow and didn't have a single bite in the 20 min charge of my pelican ring. Lots of bluetail and gigant squids though. The gigant squids were never hard to catch but now just like 5 taps and boom.

Haven't fished much since the update but I wouldn't let 20 minutes discourage you. I've gone 4 hours without a bite and still managed to average 10/hr for the day lol

Ok, I'm going to post a more detailed impressions of the new system after I try the other fish I've been leveling on but short answer is haks are still there as I've gotten a couple bites(but no catches), but I think they're actually harder to catch. I'm only 93 at the moment so this may be SE's way of making fishing skill more important. For me, haks seem to have a much higher regen than before.

update #2:

I've tried cave cherax and, in a nutshell, they're even easier now. So there is at least 2 fish that i've tried(also pterygotus about the same ease) that i could still level on. I used to lose a cave cherax every once in a while, because, under the old system, like all crustaceans it seems they would linger in the neutral position too long where you couldn't deplete their stamina. There's a definite change in rod behavior under the new system though. What I think(my opinion only) that SE has done is replaced longer times in one direction with gold arrows(but shortened the time) and shorter ones with silver so the overall time needed to deplete a fish in shortened.

In other news, got the duck ring just from entering a fish in the fish ranking contest but haven't tried it out yet.

Also completed the catch 30 large fish roe quest for 100 exp and 2000 gps(!!).
