Had a good little fishing experience yesterday.... I was able to get .8 in skillups while fishing in The Sanctuary of Zi'Tah @ G-10 because its right near the outpost. This has proven so far to be a great spot @ lvl20. Catching Dark Bass (cap@33), Crystal Bass(cap@35) and Red Terrapin(cap@53)...I have been using a Halcyon Rod and a Frog Lure. These are the only 3 Fish in that pond, minus a few arrowwood logs and a few monsters. IMO so far .8 skillups is great for only catching 38 fish. The Red Terrapins were not even hard to catch at my level and I am making some gil while skilling up. 3684gil a stack and skillups is great.

I fish Nashmau mostly is there anywhere else i can make good gil?

I have wood skilled up to fix the rod so that does not matter to me. The boat as at one point, but luck has not been on my side.

Also with M sword dropping in price its looks even less of a spot to go to.

You and I are at the same spot, i'm 31 fishing as well and have had a HORRIBLE time skilling since I capped tiger cod at 29ish. I was still fishing in Qufim for cod and herring, getting really no skillup, but cod sell well.

Then I tried shining trout, but the bite rate stunk, got lots of bites, but only 1/10 bites was a trout. So I tried shall shells, but the same thing in Bubu - 1/10 bites was a shall shell.

I then picked up a frog lure, headed to LaThiene and fished in the pond south of the crag, catching both Red Terrapin and Dark Bass (bass cap 33, terrapin are 60+ I think) and I got 1.5 levels of fishing relatively quickly. Bass only NPC for 20gil each, but the terrapin NPC for 300 each (says 10K/stack on AH, but seems like either they are never in stock, or they rarely sell, so i'd suggest NPC'ing), so thats not shabby for skillup and NPC profit. Bite rate was MUCH better though, 6-7/10 bites were either Bass or Terrapin, both skillup fish. My ratio was 2 stacks of terrapin and 3.5 stacks of Bass when I went to NPC first time, so catch rate is pretty even on them. I am using Lu Shangs with Frog Lure.

Just make sure to release any !!! you see, its either a monster or giant catfish (which caps at 31 I think, so no use bringing them in now). Hope that helps, even though its coming from a low level fisherman.

Damn, that's where I fished back when I was in that level range (that was very long ago, pre-patch...in 2004). I talked with Electro yesterday and totally forgot to mention that place...but from what I remember, it rocked.

Yeah you sorta did talk to me veg....lol.....minus all the zoning issues....but man I did happen to get some great skillups. Will possibly try that spot tonight, but so far The Sanctuary really is my skillup sanctuary atm .

I'll try Sanctuary tonight as well, see how that goes. what is the POS there? or just any water in there works?

Well i'm probably gonna just stick with shall shells in the 30s since pelican ring really speeds things up. Probably wouldnt recommend it to anyone without it though

yeah i should have mentioned that shining trout isnt the best to lvl off of, but it beat everything else for me, i guess to each his own

dont you have to be 78 in order to fish them up? i never started even trying till i was 90+

but the key item to land them is skill 78+ i think. so he must be buying them?

editalso you could land them i bet at lower skills if you lagged yourself to no end i guess.)

I'm not honestly all that upset. All it reminds me is that manually earning Lu's is more of an achievement than Ebisu, based on that reason alone.

Again, the only reasons I'll ever ever ever finish the Ebisu quest is to take my WW back down, and to justify how long i've already spent on it by actually getting results.

Considering in less than two weeks i've caught more than he had to turn in total, i'm gonna just say I've done what I can and I'm pretty happy with that. :3

I'm working towards 78 and the GP so i can assure you it will be put to good use.

If you want to compare it to 'not earning it' yea, maybe there's a case there, but i did manually do my lu shang's. I figured if i had a little extra money and a friend to lend me a hand i might as well go for it. Either way i'm pretty damn stoked and I wish everyone else the best of luck.

... A E rod and you can not even quest it lol my god man. you making so many people cry i bet. im now 0/107 gug and 0/42... (been going after gug last few weeks.) but to not even be in the 90's and have it is nuts, grats and i hate you!

btw does your friend have the rod? i hope to god he does.

Wow o.o Gratz! I've been suck at 97.6 for a little bit, got my ebisu recently and am now helping a friend get his, caught about 60 lik for him so far and not a single skill up

i wanted to do what your doing, go after lik and finish to 100 but i found out (a little late since i misread a whole bunch of crap) that i can't fish w/o the key item. i read things like "you can get the saber shoot and thread w/o having key item or quest" so the whole time i was skilling up i was like yay i'll just skill up getting my ebisu and work on the key item at the same time! then i finally got more interested in ebisu at around 90, asked around, and found out i need the key item now i'm 6k/95k, LAME! lolz
