Welcome to me, yesterday.
We're currently operating at 100% Rocky Montage mode over here.
These might help you out

Fisherman's feast: does not affect fish difficulty (rod center/side time), does not affect fish auto regen/depletion, does not affect stamina depletion or recovery, does not affect time to reel in fish, does not affect intution. These are the only things I could test for from the incoming fishing packet.
It is possible it could affect bite rates, angler discernment rate, or (require longer testing) something to do with fatigue (unlikely...).
^ this is the other option I forgot to include. This seems more likely. Good call.
So does using the Config plugin in windower to slow down fps work for what you guys are talking about. what FPS should i try? Maybe it would work with Hakuryus i was having trouble with last night. Sometimes the arrows pop up and go away before any human could hit them. or they would be there and Id hit the button and it would jsut go away like i didnt hit anything.I got close or actually fully drained it maybe 2 times but lost the catch. I have never actually been told what mooching does (basically does it actually aid in realing fish in or is it just needed KI to catch certain fish). I dont have it yet but I might work on it next if It really does something.
Oh also I forgot to mention I did better with Hakuryus using the Duck Ring I still have from the first fishing ROEs added. But still couldnt reel them in. Duck Ring makes more Gold Arrows appear. Also the enchantment only lasts 5 mins /sigh
Got pumped, tried again. Failed hard :'(
So short of exploiting the game, is it realistic to think that this fish can be caught, even at capped skill + items? Someone on my server already fished one up and put it on the AH, but I suspect they got it through questionable means...
Fishing is one of those funny these days where on really hard stuff you are pretty much forced to use questionable means if you are PC (at least decent ones) but are just fine on crappy ones or consoles. iirc someone once brought it up in the OF and was asking about if they did something as benign as merely forcing themselves to lag to try to slow fps and SE said basically no that's cheating git gud n00bs
Has anyone tried Zaldoning the following fish yet?
Shen
Cameroceras
I tried shen but he didn't want it
Went 1/3 on Phantom Serpent off the Aby-Mis cliffs (same spot as Soryu.) No items/monsters but a fairly low bite rate, was able to deplete it every time at 102+items, support, Albatross and Penguin. 2 line breaks and a catch.
Livers are not 100% from the older Legendaries, seem to be around the Cherax -> Dwarf Pugil conversion rate from Zaldon.
Ok, so for Lord of Ulbuka, there is a puzzle you have to solve to catch him! He is physically uncatchable until you solve it.
SE gave us the clues to do it, but I won't spoil it.
SE worked SUPER hard on this quest and I have to respect what a sweet victory beating it is gonna be. I just have phantom serpent left, and I have bait made for him already.
I will wait until monday to post spoilers on how to finish the quest.
I urge any fishers here, for the integrity of what a challenge ebisu+1 is, to wait before spoiling how to catch lord of ulbuka
All I can say is good job SE for thinking outside the box. The only reason I figured the trick out on how to catch this fish was discussing things with a JP who had managed to land it, and we figured out what was different between him and me.
All Ill say is this: The other fisher who could catch the lord had only 102+5skill, I have 105+10 skill and couldnt land it until I did the trick.
Super neat, and really clever. Once you solve it you'll be like "aw damn, cool"
Good luck everyone!
But... he basically spoiled it for you![]()
Not really, he could catch it, but we werent sure why we had differences. We compared the things we had done and found out a key thing he did I didnt.
I did the things and now can catch lord of ulbukas.
Ill word it like this. When you successfully have done the things, he gets weaker. Like way easier to catch and doesnt snap the line.
Edit: Think absolute virtue shit. Really out of the box, "You have to zoom in on the chat log and the time of day" bullshit.
Its NOT something youd do for ANY other fish in the game. This is a very special thing you have to accomplish that ONLY lord of ulbuka does. Makes him feel very special, and makes catching him feel like a big accomplishment because of all the work you had to go through to make him catchable.
My guess is that it has to do with the 'bonded to the lifestream' from the quest text. How to sever that bond I have no idea (hit the Cirdas Locuses, make sure all the WKR are down, be on GEO, kill X mobs somewhere, idk) but once that's done I'm guessing that makes him catchable.
