My guess is that it has to do with the 'bonded to the lifestream' from the quest text. How to sever that bond I have no idea (hit the Cirdas Locuses, make sure all the WKR are down, be on GEO, kill X mobs somewhere, idk) but once that's done I'm guessing that makes him catchable.

Kind of, but yeah once you do the thing he becomes a normal fish that you can catch like any other.

When I compare him to AV, consider it like this.

AVs locking two hours and gimping his regen are a weird special mechanic no other mob in the game had anything close to.

Lord of Ulbuka has a weird special gimmick that makes him very different from any other fish in the same way, and the gimmick takes a fair bit of effort to do.

Anyone can do the gimmick. Dont need a special job for it, its just a lot of work to do for one fish.

Not really, he could catch it, but we werent sure why we had differences. We compared the things we had done and found out a key thing he did I didnt.

I did the things and now can catch lord of ulbukas.

Well you said you have yet to catch the 5th fish so it's not something like you have to catch every fish in the game. This would've been my guess.

It took me about an hour and a bit to do it. Its not a big deal, just clever.

And its not completely random and unrelated. In fact, as soon as I figured it out I was like "oh damn! It makes sense!"

The hint the man gives you IS the hint. Its just clever.

And yeah, when you do the thing, the fish becomes a helluva lot easier to catch overall, and it doesnt do the "you didnt have enough skill" bullshit anymore either.

Snapped my line like 8 times though, but it was the "your line snapped" message instead of "You didnt have enough skill"

This seems more and more likely, since the game tracks and remembers the ones you've been to so you can buy tinctures. Really not interested in investing the time to hit them all without some confirmation though

Its not that big of a thing to do. Like I said, only took me an hour.

Your kinda close though. It does involve a bit of legwork. You gotta break down some reives to get to some places.

Biggest and best hint I can give you:

Dasva in very particular will have a very easy time doing this, and as soon as he figures it out it should take him like 30-40 mins. I know this for a fact by reading his posts here

In fact its probable hes already done this by now and didnt realise it.

There's a reason the JP friend of mine had already accidental done it, it was just natural course in the process of making the rod to be honest.

Dasva has done this all before, and itll be easy for him to do again.

There are four tasks to do. Two you could do before this update, two after the update. But you have to do them now. Possibly you even have to do it after youve already flagged the quest I think.

Switchorz probably accidently already did it, based on their posts hes been making past few days.

The ties you have to sever involve the fact that all the water lines from the 4 gates areas go to cirdas caverns. You have to 'sever the ties' that are keep Lord immortal, by doing something...

"Serpents are said to guard the vast natural energies pulsating..." Note the fact its plural.

"Intimately connected to the lifestream, and immortal as long as bonds aren't severed"

Figure out whos guarding the energy that keeps Lord of Ulbuka alive, and sever that bond. Once you figure out who the guards are, its easy to do

And the answer, but I really say you should figure it out for yourselves, makes the rod feel much more worth it. I spent 2 days solving it, and it feels good doing it

You have to catch the new Legendaries in all 4 of the gates areas. Remora, Cameroceras, Ancient Carp, Tusoteuthis Longa

Remora: Who Gates J-11, Minnow. Snapped the line A LOT

Ancient Carp: Moh Gates K-6/K-7. Insect Paste

Tusoteuthis Longa: Dho Gates F-12/G-12, Minnow

Cameroceras: Sih Gates, map 2, H-9, Minnow. Snapped the line a couple times

Once you have successfully caught all of these POST JUNE UPDATE (so game can register them under your caught fish log) Lord of Ulbuka changes.

His HP is lower, his regen (like AV) gets crippled, he calms the fuck down... Altogether about as hard as matsya.

Also doesnt snap the line that much.
