# 18 Lu Shangs +1 on Shiva! So in 3 days theres been about 13 made?
#14 Asura Lu's +1 last night. Skill wise went from 14-51 during the quest. Wish Marissa's and Titanictus were still around for full fishing nostalgia. Being unable to fish high level fish I really had to run all over to get 60 individual catches. Luckily the new check list by Katsunaga seems to be ordered by skill level making it easier to identify low skill catchable fish in the new areas.
In other news, new login campaign has confirmed fisherman's feast increases fishing skillup rate.
Where was this 8 years ago!?! I'm almost tempted to skillup my 6th character just to see if I can break my old most skillup in a day record
Skillup rate is already way higher this update. Adding ring and food on top of that is getting my alt account mad skillups.
Oh yeah forgot about that. Not like it was bad before... last guy I took up got to ebisu quest lvl in under a month though part of that was one super lucky day with contest ring. Could probably do it in 2-3 now with some luck especially if you mix in good areas with some too small method... but then you'd get 3 day vacation
Lord of Ulbuka is a nightmare to pull in... with a Pelican charge I can barely get him halfway down. Only gold arrows get him down in stamina at all. I'm 103 skill, but I have every bit of fishing skill I can have otherwise aside from the new glasses.
Going to try it with a Duck Ring and see if I have any more success. If not I'll have to get some peeps to do the Pirate's Chart quest with me.
Definitely not on-par with Matsya, I will add. I had trouble with Matsya sans Pelican (though I could get her down without a few times), but I was 100% with the ring.
Edit: Yeah, the Duck Ring does it, but barely. Almost nothing but gold arrows, but they only stay on the screen for a split second. Some literally only flash, making them impossible to hit, with my reaction time at least (which I'm pretty sure means impossible without guessing/spamming). Still managed to miss two more even with both rings. Got SIX goddamn line breaks, followed by a successful pull. Went through 8 Duck Ring charges...
Also, second post because it's nice to be fishing again and posting here. <3
Pelican Ring isn't going to do anything for you. It just helps you skill up. Duck Rings don't have charges... Are you getting your water fowl mixed up?
Yeah that was probably your problem wrong rings. I was barely able to land one without any rings and support. With MMM rings it became fairly reliable though not fun
Penguin ring is the ring that helps you tire them out faster i think. Albatross gives u more time I think?
And duck ring indeed has charges (50). They last 5 mins. u get one for doin the roe of tradign a fish in to the contest. and u can buy more from logins.
I cant recall the MMM ones but i think one is called Heron? I dunno never did MMM much
I meant Penguin Ring. Wrong bird was on the brain. (I threw my Pelican Ring away five years ago or so when I hit 100.)
Seagull Ring and Heron Ring from MMM
I've done Aquatic Depopulation Team quite a few times; many, many years ago, but something or another acted as a stopgap and I couldn't do it anymore and stopped caring. Never got the rings and at this point I'm not sure if I want the -2 inventory. I should be able to do Matsya with Puffin and Noddy with an Ebisu +1, which is the only fish I care about once I finish Lu Shang's +1.
Yeah they aren't nearly as good as the enchantment rings and I was able to land all fish in the quest including the random 100 with noddy/puffin with nq ebisu no tools so they aren't needed. In fact the only ones that even got the time warning on was one of the Lord weakening fish which was more a case of me underestimating it and trying to watch a show while doing it plus stupid gold colored manta making me think it was arrow on that side. And then Lord itself was difficult so I used the MMM rings to make it a tad easy enough that I wouldn't get the time warning but not necessary
I'm gradually plowing through the Lu Shang's +1 RoE while skilling up, eventually going after Ebisu. Given that I don't do any endgame and my best gil sources are probably dynamis/salvage (i.e. ~1.2m/hr) will it be faster to buy Gugru/Lik, or fish them up myself?
I'm always in favor of buying them if you can, esp. if you don't have woodworking leveled. Back in the day I struck a contract deal with an Ebisu LS-mate to fish exclusively for me, was definitely to both our advantages. Told him a min amount I would pay him even if it took one fish and a per fish rate above that. I was free to not deal with broken rods and my clothcraft self whilst making gil in my own way, he could fish a few boat rides/etc a day and we'd meet up for 20 or so fish a day.
Does Ebisu still require a conquest tally to finish? Because I got my Silk on Sunday and.. yeah.
It did a couple months ago.
